A guy I had been dating for months and thought I knew decently well took me out to a romantic dinner. This was right after the Isla Vista mass shootings where the shooter wrote out that long misogynistic manifesto. At this dinner the LVM started talking about how he kind of saw the shooter’s point of view since women hold all the power in society because they control men’s access to sex. I thought he was kidding at first. I was like “excuse me look at corporate boards, senators, and the presidency-in what world do women hold more power?” He wasn’t kidding and he got very animated.

I threw money on the table and broke up with him right then and there. I walked out of the restaurant, it was a whole scene. Blocked him and never spoke to him again. This was pre FDS but even my past pickme self knew this guy was fucked up. (And yes he was a pornsick tech bro that couldn’t cum from sex because he had deathgripped his dick to hell.)

I agreed to go on a date with a guy that I wasn’t really attracted to (first mistake I know) but I thought he might have a redeeming personality. I like guys who work hard and I love volunteering so he suggested dinner and I requested that we volunteer with an environmental group planting trees instead. For the first 15 minutes he was working his ass off and I started to think he might be more attractive than I originally thought. Soon after we start though he begins to get tired which wasn’t surprising because he wasn’t close to athletic at all. He gives up because it’s “so much hard work” and follows me around with a shovel for 3 hours while I dig all the holes, carry trees over and plant them, and cover them. He spent the entire 3 hours complaining about how much hard work it was and how tired he was and how he can’t wait to go home and play video games while he followed me around and watched me do everything.

He told our mutual friends that he genuinely thought it went well and that he thinks I like him after proving what a hardworking and caring person he is. All he proved is that men are delusional.

On the bright side, I now have a way to weed out the lazy men from the real workers.

Been on a few dates with this guy who i had known as a child. Our fourth outdoor date got rained out so I settled on movie and takeout at his business so he could do some paperwork. I had made it clear no hanky panky would be tolerated but he got a little drunk and started pressuring me to stay the night on this gross ass couch in his office. Im like nah fam and he got irritated that i wouldnt kiss him. I go to grab my keys and they are gone. Im so confused because i had laid them on my phone. He starts gaslighting me into thinking i had locked them in my car and that i better stay the night. The warning sirens are going off in my head but i stay calm and tell him I'll call my guy friend to come get me. I go outside to check if i had left the door unlocked by some miracle and when i come back he says he found my keys on the floor, after i had spent 30 minutes searching. Needless to say he was blocked as soon as i got home.

So I went out with this guy I had met through a fandom I was pretty into at the time.

First date he took me to this vegan restaurant. I didn't mind - I'm not vegan, but whatever. But it turned out the restaurant didn't even have vegan versions of normal food. It was like a trendy spot, and the food was all... genuinely weird. The most 'normal' thing I could find was this strange mushroom pasta that was strangely chewy and kind of grainy in my mouth.

Then we went for a walk around the city, and I listened to him drone on about his mediocre music, and how he wanted to become a famous DJ. I would not have even gone on a date with him had I know this beforehand lmao

And then later in the evening he started crying about how he wasn't over his ex yet but he really wanted to date me. In my head, I was like wtf how long ago was this and why are you even out with me right now.

He texted me the next day like that last bit never happened, and needless to say I did not respond lmao

This was several years ago. Nowadays I always pick the date spot myself so even if the date sucks I got to do/eat something I wanted. And I budget for 1.5 hours max.

I’m tied for 2 worst dates...

First story: Dating a guy for a couple months and I organize a date to a lantern festival at a lake. I paid for all of it as a surprise and when we get there all he does is sit on his phone and complain about how stupid it is. When we decorate our lanterns he just draws videogame stuff on it, not even things related to our relationship...I felt crushed that he didn’t find it romantic in the slightest and that I put so much effort in. Probably the most romantic date idea in the whole state and now I never want to do it again.

Second story: Went on a date with a random ugly rich guy just for fun. All he does is talk about himself, and his hobby where he creates mannequin size serial killer props? He even wore a Friday the 13th shirt to a 5 star Italian restaurant and said I dressed like a grandma when I arrived. It was mortifying. And I’m an artist so obviously SOMEONE has to make serial killer props but that is NOT a good first date topic and he sounded (and looked) like a maniac...

Tbh I've been with my HV fiance for most of my adult life. I haven't been on a ton of dates with other people. So mine isn't really that crazy. This is way before I discovered FDS, too.

But this dude I agreed to go out for coffee with totally catfished me with old pics. I'm not into fat guys, and I show up to the artsy fartsy coffee shop, and he's at least 75 lbs heavier than his photos. Off to a bad start.

He had gotten there before me, and already bought his own coffee. He says "I'll get us a seat", not even offering to pay for my coffee. I should have left by this point, but I bought a chai latte and sat down.

He immediately starts talking about his video game design course that he's taking at school, and will NOT shut up about it. He shows me videos on his phone and everything. After about 30 minutes of that, he segues into talking about his crack addicted sister. This whole time, I haven't gotten a single word in, and he hasn't asked me anything about myself.

Then he has the scrodacity to say that he lives with his grandparents so if I come over to have sex we will have to be quiet.

Naw sis. When I got home I blocked him. Months later, I looked at my blocked messages log and he had sent me "Did I do something wrong?". Lord have mercy. I feel blessed to not have to deal with this shit anymore.

Ahhhhh I thought of another one after reading one in here! I had already been on 3 dates with a guy, and they were good/normal. I invited him to join me on a big group weekend camping trip. (Mistake #1 of many. I was so so dumb in my early 20s.) We set up camp. Spend all night hanging out, and everything was normal. Next day, everyone floats the river. I see one of the second-day arrivals is a college friend that I hadn’t seen in a couple of years, so I maneuver my tube over to him to say hi and give him a big smooch on the cheek. Date goes BERSERK. He berates me for kissing another man, screams at me in front of everyone. I’m like...uhh...chill. It was a kiss on the cheek. And it shouldn’t matter, but this friend was gay, so I told him that, thinking it would calm him down, because I was legit scared. He calms down slightly, but then he just has to tell me he thinks being gay is wrong. Uhhh...no. He throws another mantrum and disconnects his tube from the group and loses us.

When I came back, he was at the campsite, and I try to make good, because I’m still scared. He acts normal for a while, then loses it when I apparently spend too much time talking to another guy, who is married. I’m like...uhhh...there’s his WIFE. He decides to go back to the tent to sulk, and I hang out with friends and keep drinking. When I’m tired, I go to retrieve my keys to sleep in my car, because of course I wasn’t going to sleep in the tent with him. No, he’s hidden the keys. I ransack the tent, and he just sits there smirking like an idiot. I keep searching and getting more frantic, and I demand them from him repeatedly, or I’m getting some friends involved. Then he’s like “oh here they are!” and tells me I better not drive off and leave him there. I was semi-drunk at that point, so I didn’t, since I couldn’t. I should’ve left him there the next morning, but I felt obligated since we were a couple of hours from home. He berated me the entire drive back. I have never driven faster in my life. Blocked him as soon as I dropped him off. What a psycho.

I never dated prior to meeting my husband, but I had something, that wasn't supposed to be a date, but it was meant be one and actually wasn't.

The couple I was friends with invited me to go grab some coffee and chat on the weekend. I thought that that was a nice idea and happily agreed. Closer to date they asked me if their friend I didn't know prior could join since they haven't seen him for a while. I agreed again since I hoped it will be a nice cozy evening with friends and coffee so why not.

As I arrived at the venue I get a text from the couple that they will be late and I could wait for them inside the coffee place since it will take a while and it was winter outside. That is exactly what I've done. While enjoying the cup of nice warm coffee on a snowy day I saw a guy coming from across the room and sitting next to me. He told me that he's that friend they wanted to meet and they're apparently not coming, because they wanted us to have a date. It was really disheartening for me to hear, because I never actually agreed to that, but being a pickmeisha I was I decided to give him a try. Like, there must be a reason why my friends thought I might be interested in him.

There wasn't any reason. We were completely incompatible in so many ways. First thing he asked was why I wasn't dressed up for an occasion, at least a nice dress and heels. I answered that I don't even own such things, because I don't go to the places where I might need them (I was 18, a student from a rough neighborhood, so no money and therefore no reason to be fancy) and even if I did it took me hour and half to get there by public transportation in the middle of a very cold winter and this alone would make everything look roughed up anyway.

Then we tried to communicate. And it was very miserable since we had absolutely nothing in common. So it was mostly uncomfortable silence and a quick goodbye twenty minutes later.

I went on a date with this guy years ago. He was my friend's "brother" (some dude she wouldn't have sex with probably). At the end of the night, we went to this popular hang out restaurant in our city where a bunch of people we knew were. Something happened and everyone left and went to this house a few minutes away. (Like 40 people). Apparently, someone he knew had been kidnapped and everyone decided to take matters into their own hands and show up to the house and force them to let this guy go. My date started trying to break the windows on the SUV outside. He was chucking bricks at the windows for a few minutes with no luck damaging anything haha... But the people in the house came outside with guns and shot warning shots into the ground. Everyone scattered except my date and a couple others. I wasn't sure what to do since he drove me so I just stood there like an idiot (I think I have a bad fight or flight reaction and I just froze). I don't really remember what happened with the kidnapped dude or anything. I never went out with him again and I can't remember his name.

This is not a long crazy story, but it was my first date ever. Pulled the “forgot my wallet” excuse. I really think he did forget it, but I still didn’t care. I remember thinking “Fking seriously? THIS is my first date?!?” It wasn’t even an expensive place. But if he really liked me, he should’ve double-checked to ensure he had his wallet before the date. I paid for the meal like the decent human being I am. He begged for another chance, but I told him we could only be friends. I almost felt bad, because I could tell he liked me, but I just lost all attraction after that experience. I’m sure he thought he could win me over by being friends, but eventually he just got butthurt that I wouldn’t date him. He’s lucky I was young enough to even give him that - would just block him these days!

This wasn’t really a date, not by FDS standards but in my Pickmeisha days I thought of it as one.

A few months after my divorce, I went on a real date with a Military Bro who told me he was going through a divorce and it was almost finalized. We went out for dinner at an Italian place, it was good and I went on another real date with him after that. Our third date was the famous “how about come over my house and we can cook better Italian food than we had at the restaurant?” Pickmeisha me was happy to do that.

First thing I noticed was that this house was clearly decorated by a woman for Halloween, and there was still a wedding photo on the wall. He said she just hadn’t taken them down yet, she moved back to their home state and was going to come get the stuff later.

So we made dinner and yes, unfortunately had sex. No more than five minutes after he finished when I was getting dressed, he started crying and told me that it was best that I left. I was so confused as to what was going on, I was shuffled out of the house the second I got dressed with no goodbye or anything, just him sobbing.

Turns out his soon-to-be-ex had pulled into the driveway to start getting stuff, saw my car and called him during sex. He saw her missed call and a bunch of texts about how she was taking a picture of my car and showing it to the divorce lawyer. Not sure if he cried because he was scared (he had a two year old daughter, maybe he was worried about custody, and also the military doesn’t take kindly to cheating spouses) or because he missed her.

He called me back a couple of months later and said the divorce was finalized (not sure if it was true) and asked if I wanted to “come see his new place”. I declined.

🥴pre fds I was a pickme. "M" matched with me on OLD and had a nice looking bio and pics. We got to taking and he seemed, nice, and like he was motivated and had an awesome career. We moved to the phone call stage and it went well, he asked me out and said hed plan a date for me. I said ok. He lived over an hour away from me. Then he started to get weird saying he wanted me to drive all the way to his town and was asking "what do you want to do for the date? I dont know what there is." I was a pickme and cOmMuNiCaTeD that we could meet halfway or he could drive to my area, where I had tons of date ideas. He began to complain he didnt want to drive that far and I could come over to his house or meet halfway. I said let's meet halfway and he still was difficult so I ended up researching the halfway town. It was small and only had a few options. One was a nice little cafe, a coffee shop, a super fancy but small restaurant and the other was a dumpy little pizza joint. I suggested the first three of those options saying that's all they have do you have a preference? He started saying let's go to the restaurant and was like "but is really expensive and I know you're not as well off as me". I told him that I really couldnt be dropping $50 just on a meal just for myself. He didnt offer to treat me and just texted "well guess you cant afford it and we cant go there then." I suggested the other two places not mentioning the dumpy pizza place. He started saying he isnt that into coffee and I suggested he could order something else or even just get a water. He started saying he thought he had an eating disorder and all of my options were too fattening and unhealthy. Being a pickme, I advised him to talk with someone and it was okay he could just get water or a light snack. He said I was pushing unhealthy food on him and said let's just meetup at Walmart in the halfway town at 6. So I drive to walmart. It's cold af and I'm a fool I still dressed like I was going out to a fancy restaurant 🤡. I text him I'm here and i will meet him right inside the entrance. He calls me going off saying well I'm parked in the parking lot come find my car. I was like its freezing out the parking lot is massive and I dont know you or your car I'm not doing that I'll be inside. Hes huffing and groaning "well seriously why cant you come to my car? I've been here for an hour now waiting for you!" I looked at the clock and said it's a few minutes before 6 and we agreed to meet at 6. I'm a little early. He backpedaled "well yeah we did agree to meet at 6 but I just guess I got here super early and it was a long drive still!" I said something like well I'm inside if you want to come in if not I'm gonna grab some stuff to pick up for my house while I'm here. He makes his way over. I see him walking towards me and my heart sank. He didnt look much like his profile picture he was thinner and scranier and much much shorter. I smiled and waved and pretended to be friendly but was already thinking oh no. He was wearing dirty looking Jean's and an old hoodie, a beanie hat, and a t shirt that was advertising "his" business and it was 2 sizes too big. He looked at me smacked his lips and hugged me "way to keep me waiting" he said. Then he asked what I thought of him. I was like you said you were taller than me and you are actually shorter than me. He laughed and was like oh no I'm actually taller than you it's just the ground or maybe your shoes (I had flats on). I was like let's actually get all the way inside the walmart. I lead the way and theres a set of 2 clear glass walls and doors. The glass wall was directly ahead and the doors were to the right side. I was walking through the doors leading and I looked back to see where he was and I saw him stepping into the glass wall and heard a huge SMACK as his whole body crashed into the glass. My mouth dropped. The dude just walked into the glass and was trying to brush it off like it didnt happen. I asked if he was okay and hes like no problem as hes clearly not. A worker had been sitting on some potting soil and watched this he started laughing so hard he was sliding off the bags. I looked at him and he mouthed the word RUN to me as he shook his head. Then we actually got inside walmart and I'm like do you want to look at anything in particular? Hes like nah I just want to look at you. I brushed it off and started looking at some holiday decor. He said that was boring and was like can I hold your hand my hands are cold? I was like no. We moved through some food and gifts until we got to the electronics department. I started asking about what books and films he liked. He was like I dont know. Then all of a sudden he pulled out TWO safe bags stuffed with cash from his hoodie and showed them to me and hes like "see I told you I have my own business. Look at how much I make. I can buy whatever I want" and I was like I never said I didnt believe and its impressive you have your own business you should be proud you're successful. He then got degrading "well I just wanted to show you because no one believes me and how about this? Go get me a shopping cart and we will play a game. You then take the cart and Ill follow you as you fill it up and I'll buy you whatever you want." I said no thanks I really dont need anything and I'm not looking for handouts. Then he got insulting "well come on I know you cant afford it this will be like me helping you out I mean look at all my cash" I said no thanks bit if you need something you can get it while we are here. He started looking at the electronics they keep locked behind glass. I occupied myself and looked at other stuff. He was looking at something with lights and I walked over and was like wow what is that? He said "I dont know but I want it." He called a worker over and said "i want this go ring it up" it was rude and I called him out saying why is he spending $250 when he doesn't even know what the item is. Anyways then hes looking at more stuff or so I thought because I had my back turned. Then I hear him going MMMMM THATS HOT and smacking his lips. I turn around and relaize hes standing there looking me up and down and saying that to me. I was like what did you just say? He said "your dress its soooo hot. You have these gorgeous ling legs and such a big but and curvy figure it's just stunning. I realllllyyyy love that dress its hoootttt" I was like okay and thinking if how to leave. I tried to start sneaking away and he followed me. He found another hoodie and put it over his hoodie and then went to the body wash section where hes like I need a new body wash help me pick one out and I was like I like that one he that he didnt. He buys his stuff and I was like I'm gonna get going now. He started following me to my car and I didnt really stop him. He asked me to the dumpy pizza place I found on Google maps but didnt mention to him. I acted like I'd didnt know a pizza joint was around here and being a pickme I jumped at the offer. He was like well thats my car right over there which one is your car? I was like it's that one. His jaw dropped as he said "wait that's your car?" I smiled, "you really think I'd drive a rusted out car from 92 with two different color doors and a body?" He was like "well yeah most people do..." I laughed, "yeah that new car brand is mine. I custom ordered it too and upgraded that, and got that done" Hes like "well I bought mine for 3k and did it all myself and it took forever" and I'm like "that's great for you but umi just paid the guys to do it" I was stunned as I drove a much nicer car than him. He had no idea I also had a business or any money. And now the outfit and car made sense to him. Hes like well we can take my car to the pizza place I said okay and got in. His car was very very tiny it actually was like a clown car and much older and made a lot of weird sounds. He said hes "always ordering parts" for it because "something always goes" Luckily the pizza place was very close by. We got there and sat down. "I want mozz sticks for the appetizer," he said. I said okay. Then hes drinking his water and hes like "I hate all this fattening food. I'm ordering a steak you should too it's my treat." I played along okay ill try your recommendation. The mozz sticks came be was chomping them down and we made awkward small talk. I didnt take any. Then he suddenly goes "this is awkward. I want to see you eat one." I said I wasn't a fan of them and no thanks. "How do you not like mozz sticks I ordered them for US!" I said well you can take them home if you cant finish.

I went on a first date with a guy and we were set up by mutual friends. He takes me bowling and the whole drove there he talks about expensive shoes he’s buying and reselling. I have no interest in this but asked a few polite questions as he bragged about it. We bowl and I’m having an ok time until I walk back over to him after my turn and he says “you know... you have a great ass for a white girl”. NOPE. He drives me back to drop me off at my dorm. As we were sitting in his car and saying goodbye, it seemed like he was waiting for a kiss. I was not interested, so I held out my arms in a hug motion. He took that opportunity to kiss me, mouth open wide open from the start. I was so shocked I just froze there with my lips pressed shut. He made out with my chin for a bit before I pulled away and said “ok...bye” and ran away while I wiped spit off my face. He then told EVERYONE that I kissed like a middle schooler

Okay. Prepare yourselves for some cringe.

Background:When I was a pickmeisha, I was dating a real loser- drug addict, chronic liar, high-school drop out with no prospects or intentions of improving his standing. I was working/attending a local community college. I didn't want to focus on myself so I gave him my everything (I know... I cry on the inside). I was dating him because he was cute (but not really) and I had low self-esteem and no standards.

I did not like it when he drank so he promised he would stop. Of course he didn't. He asked that we go to the movies. It was a movie he wanted to see, something I didn't have any interest in, but I went anyway because I love movies.

He walked to friend's house and spent 15 or so minutes there, and what I didn't know at the time was he drank there too. Apparently a lot. He met up with me at a fast food store and I saw when it hit. He said he only had a beer.

Fast forward, we're watching the movie.

This motha fucka falls asleep. And starts. To snore.

The people behind us start to laugh and I try to shake him awake but he's fucking out. So he sleeps for most of the movie. At the end he's drunk and out of it. We take the bus home. I break up with him and he doesn't even remember that when he wakes up. He's *pissed* because he slept through the movie.

I break up with him (*when he's sober this time), he throws a man-tantrum. Kicked him out... but I was still a pickme so I'll spare y'all the rest of the dirty deets.

Only plus side was that I loved the movie.

I don't know if this counts as a date, but the second time i met him he just had minor surgery (very very minor, he was awake during it) the day before. He was being all sooky, telling me he's had 3 surgeries and has always gone alone. The whole day he asked me to come over and when i said i could after work, he gaslit me and made me feel that it was my idea, like i was inviting myself over.

I went over, he was handsy straight away. He went in for a kiss, put his hands down my pants trying to grab my butt etc. I felt uncomfortable because he was recovering and he mentioned it would be a chill one because he was sore. He asked me if i was nervous when trying to kiss me and i felt he was very condescending.

During the night he asked what i was doing for dinner because he wasn't expecting company and only bought one steak (after asking me to come over the whole day). I said i'm not sure, expecting him to offer something we could share. He decided to get up and cook his own steak and dinner and eat it in front of me while i sat there and watched. Later on, he got a protein bar he bought earlier at the grocery store and shared it with me lol. He fed me the protein bar and kept shoving the bar in my mouth while laughing. I felt like an animal.

It was time to go home and he would try to be all handsy again, shoving his hands in my pants etc without asking etc. Then after saying our goodbyes i walked out and he told me to press 1 on the elevator to get down to the lobby then said bye and shut the door. He didn't walk me down to my car and he lives on quiet and dark street. I drove home feeling miserable and used. I stupidly kept in contact with him until 2 weeks later where i blocked him because i realised asking for the bare minimum was too hard. Thank god i found this sub just before i blocked him. Naive little pickme i was.

I met a guy online and the conversations was going great, so we agreed to meet at a local bar for a drink. I arrived a few minutes early, ordered a beer and sat down to wait. And wait. And wait. 45 minutes later he’s still a no call/no show and my beer is just about done. As I’m getting up to leave he comes walking in talking on the phone. I walked over to meet him and say hello, but he put his hand up in my face “talk to the hand” style to shut me up and he continued with his telephone conversation. I was so astonished I didn’t move until I heard his friend on the other side of the conversation ask “so you fuck her yet?” And he replied “nah not yet I just got here. “. I was appalled. He still hadn’t even said a word to me and was ignoring to continue this conversation. I loudly said “and he won’t either” so his friend could hear and walked out. That night was a waste of good mascara.

Met him on OK Cupid. American living in Canada to study microbiology (cool), good figure, good looking, and seemed pretty smart and driven based on his area of study. Cool I'm in. Showed up to the date having come from the gym, complete with gym bag and protein shake. Ok cool, fine. We start drinking at a local pub and having an okay conversation, I'm pretty interested in hearing about these core samples from peat bogs he's studying and he's keen to tell me about them so its going decently well, no awkward pauses or anything. I'm in school at this point, and fucking BROKE, I had no money, worked a shit job. Drinking/ eating out is pretty expensive so I'm sticking with one beer and some fries to keep the date budget friendly (I dont like it when men pay for me on the first date, I don't want them to feel like I owe them anything or like I need anything from them right off the bat). He's on his second pint. Third pint. Now he's encouraging me to drink another one, I tell him I'm trying not to spend too much, he says "no no don't worry about it". I take this to mean he will get the next round (wrong) so I order another one. He orders another one. Midway through his fourth pint (literally 25 minutes into the date) he starts talking about....the Chinese. I come from a city with a large number of Chinese immigrants, but most of them are second generation and the demographics are pretty mixed in my city anyways. Never really think much of it. But right, this guy is American and I didn't think to ask what part of America he comes from. Well, its Alabama. And he is racist as shit (no offense to other alabamans, idk ur life). He starts talking about how "they dont know how to walk", "theyre so dirty", "the old people will take a picture of anything" (thats ALL old people on vacation bro), then launches into how Chinese people are "Canada's Mexicans" but at least they "don't hang out in the parking lots looking for work". I'm literally panic texting my friend at this point like "call me and bail me out of this date" which she does. I take the call and say "oh no, my sister fell off a ladder and she's in the hospital, I have to go!" (I know its terrible but I was like, 19 and didn't know how to tell racist assholes to fuck off properly yet). He says "oh shit, I'll drive you" sorry, you'll DRIVE me? Four pints deep?? I say "no its really okay the skytrain is faster, I'll just grab the bill and then I gotta go" we get the bill and (unpredictably) I pay for three of the drinks + fries, which came to over $30 and made me sick to my stomach because that could have been grocery money (I was B R O K E). I peel out of there real quick and ghost the fuck out of him.
