The society has such a misogynistic view on women, that women try to show that they stand out from the mass of 'evil backstabbing bitchy women'. Everyone of uf always gets confronted with those stereotypes in movies, books, etc. And then they are scared to demand anything or have any standart at all, because they don't want to be one of THOSE women.

I think the big issue with memes like this is that it highlights the “other girls” as superficial or otherwise places them into very negative stereotypes. Liking pizza and anime does not set someone apart and there is really no point bringing other women down while at it. That’s absolutely a very pickme thing to do. The vast majority of people love pizza and anime also has a huge audience worldwide. It doesn’t set someone apart liking these things. Not even sure why she added “internet” in there too. But yeah whoever made that meme is 100% a raging pickme imo, the whole bringing other women down to uplift myself thing is trashy.

I like it, but I am also concerned it's not for good reasons. I would like it to be popular just to push more women and girls into the concept of self-respect and standards, but it seems it's just a general misogynistic shaming-women-for-anything-they-can-is-fun! thing. Like how 'Karen' started out as shaming insane, entitled customers or racists and it just turned into a "silence any woman who speaks out about literally anything" type of shit.

Pick me is not just a FDS term, I believe it was black women on Twitter that coined the term. It's almost interchangeable with "NLOG". Here in FDS it's more dense than that, since we have terms like "pick me culture" and stuff.

That said, even my 14 year old niece who doesn't speak English but is always on TikTok used the term "pick me girl" out of the blue a few days ago. I almost died laughing.

No you are not a pickme for liking anime (watching tv is an "interest" now? Ok). You are a pickme for acting like the idea of someone courting you is ridiculous and courting is dumb, as you are too laid back for it.

One of my friends is a pizza lover, I mean she can eat pizza every day of her life. So if she doesn't like flowers her boyfriend can organise a pizza making evening at home, take her to an Italian restaurant to eat really good pizza, etc.

What makes her a pickme is not her different interests but her 0 expectations of a man.

Pick me is a common term outside the sub but I’ve most seen it use to insult women who aren’t hypersexualized by liberal feminism. It’s used to insult women who someone thinks is trying to hard or is “not like other girls.”
