Why do certain men take pride in lack of proper skincare? Why do they think it's "too feminine" to take care of a big part of their body?

One of the last guys I dated had an absolutely incredible body, but he had acne-prone skin (in our thirties) and refused to see a dermatologist because "he saw one in his teens." Uh. What? It was off-putting that he put so much effort into his appearance but refused to take care of his skin properly.

You know what's hot? A man who takes care of himself, including making sure his skin is dry and peeling. I'm not saying he needs to drop $100/mo at Sephora but understand the basics of cleanser, moisturizer, and SPF....

How about socks? It looks like he isn’t wearing any. A long pair of socks would help protect ankles. I get dry skin on my feet and hands but I have never heard of ankles getting dried out like that.

I’ll admit my feet are like that. I do what I can to do damage control, but the rough skin insists on being there. It’s frustrating.

I guess the difference here is effort. I put an effort in having presentable feet, they’re just extra sensitive or something and grow rough skin easily. This guy gives no fucks.
