I didn't notice till now you linked to another sub. You need to remove that or this post will be removed. I will check back later. Thank you.

That thread is so interesting because the two comments I read that were constantly repeated were:

"I once opened up emotionally to a girl and she didn't respond so I will never ever again do that."

and

"Something bad happened to me and I couldn't tell any of my guy friends because they would tell me to man up."

Like...guys won't open up to their friends and when they expect the ladies in their life to shoulder all of their emotional baggage (which, omg some examples of them *opening up* are actually some scary ass confessions) they're surprised when it's too much.

My last post demonstrated exactly what these men mean, straight from the dragons mouth.

Tldr:

Woman: "he cheated on me and then he started freaking out and crying about how hard his life is. What a loser"

Men: "wow, he opened up to you and you just laughed at him? This is why men can never speak about their feelings, you should be more compassionate towards him. Men are oppressed."

When women brush off men who speak about their feelings its because he's trying to get sympathy from his bad behaviour or he's treating her as a therapist.

100 percent. We are not fountains of unconditional love.

I had a guy friend "open up" that he had been lying to his wife about being unemployed for 6 months, spent most of his days gaming, and had spent their kid's confirmation money on a PS5. First off, I did not ask for that confession. Secondly... just WTF I'm not equipped for a compassionate response to that.

Reminds me of when my ex said I gave him PTSD from questioning him when I found out he had been cheating for 7 years. He kept asking me why I was putting him through so much pain- the pain of answering my questions about what he had done behind my back while I was raising his kids! Later when I said I was the one who may have PTSD, he shrugged it off. If anything every made me want to fly into a blind rage...

We are conditioned to be kind and gentle if a man shows tender emotion. They know this. That’s why they always sprinkle in some crocodile tears and self pity with their confessions. “No no no you can’t be mad. You have to feel bad for me! Me me me!”

In regards to womens "support system": having a support system requires daily maintenance and years of building trust and reciprocation in order to have someone who will always be there to support you. Men seem to think that if you're born with a vagina then you just have a flock of friends there to support you, but it works exactly the same for us as it does for them. They just got unlucky that male friendships suck. They're they only ones that can help themselves.

Edit: just came across the post you were talking about. LOL I've never seen such tone-deaf, sexist, unaware wolves men in one post before. Its literally: men can't share feelings, stop telling us to share our feelings and let men be men not cucks, women suck, women are too emotional, women aren't having sex with us for some reason 🐺, we have no male friends but women have lots of female friends so this must be womens fault, etc. 😂😂😂

[–]outgrabed-momerathFDS Disciple36 points37 points38 points 5 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

Yessssss. Friendships are work. I wake up and try to remember the important things going on in my friends' lives: birthdays, promotions, breakups, etc and then I reach out or send thoughtful gifts or plan an activity for us. And they reciprocate. There is nothing in those actions that is specific to my female gender!

[–]quarterlyavocadoFDS Newbie25 points26 points27 points 5 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Same. Last week my friend texted me to confirm the date for my impending credentialing exam; in theory this date has nothing to do with her, but because she values our friendship I bet she's going to text "good luck!" and "how did it go?" when the day arrives. Of course I do the same for her nursing school exams. Apple Reminders and iCal are free and accessible regardless of gender lol

[–]mirrormirror114FDS Newbie11 points12 points13 points 5 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Yes! My sister is the one responsible for remembering her husbands parents’ birthdays and sending gifts. Her husband is not even paying attention to remember his own mothers birthday!!!!! It blows my mind how someone can be that thoughtless and put in no effort.

[–]MaingurlFDS Newbie14 points15 points16 points 5 years ago* (0 children) | Copy Link

Absolutely! The only reason I have a great support system is due to daily maintenance. I always check in on my friends and they return the favor. It's not always an easy task but it's totally worth it.

[–]honumaluhiaFDS Apprentice7 points8 points9 points 5 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Exactly! They think women were magically born with support systems. Creating a support system takes time, emotional labor, and hard work!

Women who have support systems in times of hardship were there for their friends and family during their times of hardship or need. And they invest in such relationships.

Planning movie nights at a friend's house after her break-up so she isn't alone, spending time with grandparents, taking time out to call Aunt Beatrice twice a month, keeping up with out-of-state cousins and college friends (graduations, birthdays, holidays), planning and organizing a surprise graduation party for a friend who completed optometry school, making home-made trays of lasagna to a friend's home after surgery because you don't want them to struggle.

This is work. The only reason men don't see value in it is because it's invisible labor. It's unpaid labor and care work that women have been performing for centuries.

No one is stopping men from creating their own support systems but their own damn selves.

Men need to be talking about their mental health with their fellow men. Men are the ones dismissive of men's mental health. Women typically take that shit seriously but get called emotional or sensitive for doing so. The fact that they need to bring up how women have it easier in this domain (lmao) shows that they have no interest in genuinely discussing mental health with other men, but want to circlejerk about how women actually don't have it that bad.

Wow you really summed it up. They think women’s lives are inherently better... because men want to have sex with us.

Maybe they should just go fuck themselves, literally and figuratively.

[–]Phoenix__Rising2018Ruthless Strategist156 points157 points158 points 5 years ago (5 children) | Copy Link

It takes a lot of nerve for a group of people that generally prey on women, rape us, use us as housemaids and servants, use us for breeding, abuse us, to then turn around and whine about how nobody cares about their mental health.

[–]hopewingsFDS Newbie77 points78 points79 points 5 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Women are stronger because we have to be.

Yesterday I read a sad story about a woman who had a miscarriage and said she was fine afterwards, but she was on reddit asking how to better support her boyfriend who was depressed about it. People like "oh just show him that you are strong and fine."

[–]ReignOnYou9528 points29 points30 points 5 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

So true. Also women are called too emotional all the time as reasons to not be taken seriously so how are womens mental health taken more seriously exactly? Maybe in the sense that its a stereotype for women to be more emotional but thats literally it, and its not a good thing since they use it against us.

I know I find it hard to sympathise with men, considering they are so keen to jerk over videos of women being sexually brutalised, dominated or humiliated. They don't care about the mental health of women they wank over being exploited and abused, they even get pleasure from it.

Because women are never lonely because they always have so many men willing to “provide companionship” aka use their bodies. /s

Hmmm hey wait a second maybe men mean something different when they use the word “lonely” 🤔

Also lol @ the below:

women have it much easier and better because we have “support systems” like friends and family 🤡 As if men dont have friends or family too many just dont give af about them 🤡

Once again men discounting emotional labor and expecting things for free. Women typically have more friends and family to rely on because they do the emotional labor to cultivate the relationship. They don’t just do the bare minimum in a relationship and then expect to be helped when they’re going through a hard time.

[–]fdssavedmylifeFDS Newbie5 points6 points7 points 5 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Women are also much more comfortable with “loneliness” because men don’t positively contribute to our lives. Men take way more than they give.

The reverse is true as well. Men struggle with loneliness more because women are a positive contribution to their lives. Plus it’s usually their fault they’re alone, but they don’t want to admit it or work on their issues.

How many men do you know that pore over self help books trying to figure out what’s “wrong” with them? Yeahhhh, not many.

[–]nebsemiFDS Newbie109 points110 points111 points 5 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link

I'm telling you - men didn't bring any attention to men's mental health until we brought attention to that of women's. Kind of like they do with rape victims.

Also: Men are usually the cause of women's decline in mental health.

Women bear the brunt of the wars men wage.

[–]hopewingsFDS Newbie30 points31 points32 points 5 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Men are usually the cause of women's decline in mental health

This needs to be said again and again.

Men rape, steal, murder, commit most of the crimes, and cause most of the mayhem and destruction.

In response, women have had to support each other, look out for each other, and travel in groups to stay safe. It's survival.

[–]grayforamericaFDS Newbie36 points37 points38 points 5 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Such a good point, and it’s like they’re trying to overshadow women’s issues by piping up saying “We get hurt, too!” and pretending to care about other men’s mental illnesses, when it’s really about oppressing us.

[–]weekend111FDS Newbie20 points21 points22 points 5 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Men don’t bring men’s mental health unless you bring women’s mental health. They don’t give a shit about men’s mental well-being, they just want to silence women.

[–]millennialpink2000FDS Newbie50 points51 points52 points 5 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Yet another reflection of a society that prioritizes men over women. Society is fine with women suffering and being depressed, but not men. Even though they're the one's who perpetuate it by shaming their friends for expressing emotion

[–]SapphonieFDS Apprentice25 points26 points27 points 5 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Because men need to be taught to cry /s

[–]janeaustenfan99FDS Newbie19 points20 points21 points 5 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

They might think we have it easier in terms of dating and maintaining social relations. But lots of women’s relationships are based on providing some form of care and emotional support to others, especially in dating/romantic relationships.

[–]mostlycoderFDS Newbie8 points9 points10 points 5 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Yeah, they could do the things we do. They just don't. And then whine that WOMEN aren't doing enough for them. Nothing is stopping them from opening up to male friends and family.

[–]alwaysonalongtripFDS Newbie18 points19 points20 points 5 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Men have more resources than women to care for their mental health.

They are under the illusion that they don't bully women when women express emotion which is insane.

Women are shamed when they express emotion but we still manage to support each other and our family and friends and seek therapy when we need it. It's all we can do.

[–]Grouchy-Math41FDS Newbie14 points15 points16 points 5 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

It's literally daily, you're right. It's hysterical how they think no one talks about mental health in men. In their eyes women can't be mentally ill, it's a little scary. AskMen is a shithole.

[–]MaingurlFDS Newbie13 points14 points15 points 5 years ago* (0 children) | Copy Link

All their problems seem to come from a place of mediocracy and wallflower syndrome. Mixed in with the idea that women's emotions are 100% coddled and reciprocated.

[–]grayforamericaFDS Newbie34 points35 points36 points 5 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Because women have it soooo easy 😤 mEn Just FlOck tO tHeM 😤 they have large social groups, the woman species is a social creature. 🤬

I have seen these ridiculous statements on multiple subreddits. I have suffered from social anxiety my entire life, along with a small family and like 1 friend. I never blamed men for my loneliness like they blame us for their mental problems. Why are we expected to ~heal~ them while receiving absolutely nothing in return? Men made me feel even more lonely when I was dating. They don’t care about our mental health and they don’t understand what it’s actually like to be us. And they’re assuming all women’s lives are the same lol.

[–]PasDeToutFDS Newbie12 points13 points14 points 5 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

I think most people living alone are female. This is largely due to quite a few elderly widows living on their own. Do we think they’re not lonely? Some might be lucky enough to have family close enough to visit regularly but it’s also an age when your friends start dying off and it’s not easy to make new ones. If you’re in your nineties, chances are your children could be in their sixties and seventies and one or more of them might have died.

[–]Kitty_PompousThrowaway Account21 points22 points23 points 5 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Men, and especially incels, love to pretend that isolation and social rejection do not exist for women. All conceivable social issues simply vanish into thin air by virtue of being a woman. My theory on the loneliness/isolation issue is that men boil down all intimacy and bonding down to sex. If having positive social experiences is just sex, of course I can’t take issue with being alone, because with a moderate enough face I can simply invite some scum over to do what he wants and then leave

And I swear, when I was friends with these incel “mentally ill” (ie sad sociopath) dudes, they’d downplay everything I said or discount any advice I gave as totally obvious. Being their free therapist is the least rewarding volunteer work I’ve ever done. So no wonder nobody else wants to do it when you’ll be actively berated in trying to help them. They don’t actually want help. The kicker is, they don’t care about men’s mental health either, they just hate women so much and blame themselves so little. Every little thought in their head is one of absolute selfishness

Thank you so much. I live alone. You have made me feel heard and seen which is the first time in a long time. Working through another lockdown in the UK and get sick of hearing people bleating about not seeing family members. At least they have a family. Not all of us are that lucky. Thank you ❤

Because any discussion about mental health that leaves out men is SeXiST! So they have to talk about mental health in a broad and gauge way. Which helps no one.

[–]VillanellohFDS Newbie6 points7 points8 points 5 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

I was literally thinking about this - there are all kinds of charities and campaigns tailored for men but women specific mental health issues are swept under the rug. When was the last time you saw a news article about post-natal depression? Or poor mental health caused by gynaecology related problems? Exactly.

[–][deleted] 2 points3 points4 points 5 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

I thought we weren’t supposed to link to other subreddits from here? Or is it certain ones?

[–]uptownxthotFDS Newbie2 points3 points4 points 5 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

women are pretty much brainwashed from birth to accept all forms of abuse from men bc “tHaTs JuSt HoW mEn ArE!!” even though it clearly hurts our feelings and wrecks our self esteem. but we’re supposed to care about a man’s mental health when they’ve been given a free pass to completely destroy ours their entire lives?
