100% If you are unmarried then you are single. I don't play the fake commitment. I had and ex's brother call me the sister in law, in front of his family. Thank you. I find it SO EMBARRASSING when I see so many women these days talking about how they don't need marriage and how they're fine just dating for...idk, forever. I want to shake them by their shoulders and say, You've been brainwashed into accepting no commitment and low standards! Seriously, imagine being a man's GIRLFRIEND at the age of like 45 — when you've been dating for years and years — and knowing he could walk away at any given moment and leave you totally empty-handed, with no laws protecting you.

I get the same feeling of embarrassment when I see a woman who's like 29 or 30 finally getting engaged to the guy she's been dating for like 10 years. It's not her age that's the issue, it's how long they dated. Like honey...you really let a man just date you for years and years with no commitment? You gave up your youth for a man who wanted to just DATE for ten years and couldn't get his shit together to propose sooner than that? Yikes.

In my opinion, once a woman is out of college, it's game on, get serious time. That ring better be on the finger by the time they've been dating seriously for about two years, otherwise he's just wasting her damn time.

What if I don't want to be married (again ...)? How would a man show commitment? I got screwed over in my divorce because he was military and they protected him. I was TRAPPED because of marriage until I could get the divorce processed which is taking two years... I'd rather just not deal with it tbh

Personally, I don’t agree with this. As someone who doesn’t want to get married (been there done that), according to this guy, I’ll stay single forever. The thing is, that if I were trully single, I’d date other guys, which I obviously won’t do in a commited relationship. Also, nothing guarantees that HVM will stay HVM even after marrying you. On the contrary, some men show their true colours only AFTER they “lock you down” and marry you. Divorcing a LVM or NVM can be hell and can drag for years (esp. if you have kids). Also, statistically, being married is more benefitial to men than women. So what’s the FDS stance on this?
