Jesus fuck, could you imagine having such a zealot for a mother? She is so hopelessly mired in her own delusion of persecution and celebrated victimhood that she can't even see that she's driving her sons away. Surprise surprise, when you proselytize ad-nauseum that men are such pieces of shit, men stop listening to you.

This article is so full of buzz-words and solipsism that I'd almost think that it's satire. She's so far up her own asshole that she can see the light at the end of the tunnel.

She's so far up her own asshole that she can see the light at the end of the tunnel.

Unrelated to the debate at hand, but I liked your phrasing and I've been thinking about it.

I think it is very interesting in topological light.

Unfortunately, it is not possible for her to see light this way; as her head reaching the digestive system up to the amygdala would let her see the mouth, which has been inserted with her head into her asshole. She wouldn't see light, as there is no light up there.

On another note, I think there would be a some sort of infinite behavior occuring if her head reaches and tries to get out of her mouth.

EDIT: After some googling, of course this philosophical conundrum has already been dealt with. I mean, obviously. And of all sites of the internet, guess where it this debate is adressed?

[–]Orgell_Evaan 3 points4 points5 points 9 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

I think that there's an assumption (if you'll forgive the term) that there would be some form of Klein-bottle effect that would indeed allow one to remove one's adenoids with their own incisors.

[–]SRSLovesGawker 4 points5 points6 points 9 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Klein bottle feminism?

Jesus. The only relief I got from reading that bullshit screed was (a) seeing that her sons weren't buying her shit, and (b) neither were most of the commenters on the article. Hopefully WaPo will stop giving page time to loons like that soon.

[–][deleted] 32 points33 points34 points 9 years ago (9 children) | Copy Link

It's like they're anti-Feminists, publishing this kind of shit that everybody understands as shit.

[–]xNOM 16 points17 points18 points 9 years ago (8 children) | Copy Link

Which is why trolling is actually a very effective way to fight social justice idiocy.

[–]Tedesche 0 points1 point2 points 9 years ago (7 children) | Copy Link

Why? Because it causes them to spew crap that most people disagree with? Why not just let them do that on their own and deny them the ammunition of accusing their opposition with engaging in tactics are similarly widely disliked?

[–]xNOM 6 points7 points8 points 9 years ago (6 children) | Copy Link

Why not just let them do that on their own

LOL I suppose that's one approach. But then they can just choose to ignore things.

I doubt we would have heard the equivalent of the words "Would you rather your child had feminism or cancer?" out of Hillary without Milo's trolling. They can't resist that stuff.

[–]Tedesche 0 points1 point2 points 9 years ago (5 children) | Copy Link

Eh. It's not that trolling never produces favorable results, it's just that it costs the troll (and those they're representing) quite a bit in social currency as well. Seems a better tactic to engage in honest debate and use good argumentation to frustrate your opponent enough that they make embarrassing statements.

[–]xNOM 1 point2 points3 points 9 years ago (4 children) | Copy Link

Seems a better tactic to engage in honest debate and use good argumentation to frustrate your opponent enough that they make embarrassing statements.

I think that would work if the argument were over something amenable to reason. Social justice seems to be immune to reason. It is a religion. There is a free speech problem. People are getting fired and outcast for speaking common sense. (Think Tim Hunt, or the space scientist guy who wore the wrong shirt.) When this happens sometimes, the only recourse sometimes is to cloak one's arguments in satire. I'm not saying Milo is on the level of Oscar Wilde but the idea is the same. Sometimes only the court jester can tell the truth.

[–]Tedesche 1 point2 points3 points 9 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link

Oh, I get how apologetics work, and I'm not saying the people you'd be debating with would be amenable to reason. I'm saying that, with good enough arguments, you can expose even the most sophisticated apologetics as irrational. Atheists have been doing an extraordinarily good job of that lately with regards to religious apologetics without having to resort to satire or trolling to do so. In fact, I think to the extent they have, that's where a lot of the more recent hostility they've gotten from the general public has come from.

Similarly, when MRAs identify as entirely antifeminist, rather than merely feminist-critical, and espouse blanket disapproval of feminism in very coarse terms, I think that does the movement more harm than good. We would be served better by making intelligent, well-articulated criticisms of feminism in the areas in which it crosses the gender equality line, while making it clear we are not attacking women or their rights. Feminists have spent decades equating criticism of feminism with misogyny, and we've got to start dispelling that myth. You don't do that—quite the opposite in fact—by mimicking a sexist feminist tactic and engaging in "ironic misogyny." That bad behavior on the part of feminists is working against them in society overall, and it works against us for the same reasons.

[–]xNOM 2 points3 points4 points 9 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

I wish that worked. In fact it DOES work at the highest levels sometimes. No serious economist believes the wage gap crap. The political situation is completely different. Unfortunately I think sometimes it's like racism or homophobia. You just have to wait for that generation to die away.

[–]Tedesche 1 point2 points3 points 9 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Indeed, some societal changes require generational shifts. I personally think millennials are open to men's rights though. I'm on the early end of that generation, and I definitely grew up feeling like feminists had already become fairly sexist. Seeing as they've only gotten more so in the last 20 years, I think younger people are at least as open to it as those my age (mid-30's). I think we're going to start seeing growing acceptance of men's issues and less tolerance of misandry from feminism over the next 5-10 years.

[–]BookOfGQuan 1 point2 points3 points 9 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Feminists have spent decades equating criticism of feminism with misogyny, and we've got to start dispelling that myth.

Exactly. Which is why a blanket dismissal of feminism is entirely justified. To deprive that narrative of power, we need to encourage the discarding of feminism, in its entirety. Pulling off the leaves doesn't do anything if the root is still intact - they'll just grow back. You don't play by the opponent's rules, you delegitimise the opponent and demonstrate that they have no moral leg to stand on.

[–]Florinator 2 points3 points4 points 9 years ago (9 children) | Copy Link

I can't read WaPo articles anymore.

[–]Tedesche 1 point2 points3 points 9 years ago (4 children) | Copy Link

Eh. IMO, WaPo is a mixed bag—sometimes they publish articles that are sympathetic to the men and men's rights/issues, and sometimes they publish bullshit like this.

[–]The_0bserver 2 points3 points4 points 9 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Well thats good. :)

They should give a chance to idiots too. If they are idiots, let the readers understand for themselves.

[–]Tedesche 1 point2 points3 points 9 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Oh, don't get me wrong—one of the things I highly respect about WaPo is that they seem to actively try to give both sides of an issue roughly equal voice, and explore viewpoints in society that are taboo. I'm not complaining about that in this instance. I just think this is a garbage article, and they could have published a much more intelligent, nuanced piece on rape culture that I still might have strongly disagreed with, but could at least respect for its overall quality.

However, perhaps it is telling that they thought this was a good piece, or at least a representative piece. If the views expressed there are supported by a majority of or even just a sizable proportion of feminists, then I suppose that is giving that side a legitimate stab at the issue. If that's the case, then I retract my criticism, but somehow I think most feminists would cringe at this.

At any rate, regardless of what feminists think of the piece, I was very happy to see the vast majority of commenters on the article seem to view it as garbage. That's a good sign.

[–][deleted] 1 point2 points3 points 9 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Its almost like they have semi-unbiased reporting! They do a good job pissing everyone off and that is awesome.

Absolutely no way a progressive shithole like WaPo would let Schow publish for them, they're on opposite ends of the narrative spectrum.

Schow writes for the Washington Examiner.

Actually they probably want to keep her on staff. She generates a lot of views.

The news has not been about the truth for a very long time.

[–]baserace 0 points1 point2 points 9 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Hopefully WaPo will stop giving page time to loons like that soon.

Nonono, they need to keep printing them so more and more people become aware of the casual misandry of feminists and society in general. Expose the cunts. Every article like this brings us closer to reaching our goals.

[–]manicmonkeys 50 points51 points52 points 9 years ago (18 children) | Copy Link

One of the most fucking stupid things about this is they ALWAYS talk about needing to get a woman's consent before having sex. Why the hell is it NEVER about them getting a man's "enthusiastic consent"?

And obviously this is tongue-in-cheek. I know why they don't talk about it. These types assume men always want sex, to them, men are living in a state of desperate consent to any sex they can get. Their worldview would be shattered if they ever stopped to think for a moment that maybe men don't want sex with every woman all the time.

I've got a pretty strong sex drive, but on the uncommon occasion when I've told significant others I didn't feel like having sex at the moment, they got PISSED every time.

[–]Evets616 30 points31 points32 points 9 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link

Ditto. It turned into a whole conversation about her and reassuring her that I find her attractive and being there for her needs and how it makes her feel if I say no.

Yeah, that's not at all setting me up for shaming if I ever say no again.

[–]manicmonkeys 15 points16 points17 points 9 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Basically, we need to stop treating women like delicate fucking flowers who should never have to endure the horror of hurt feelings.

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point2 points 9 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

[–]Archibald_Andino 15 points16 points17 points 9 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link

Why the hell is it NEVER about them getting a man's "enthusiastic consent"?

There isn't a feminist on the planet who has ever done this... even once. Just another in the endless list of double standards.

[–]manicmonkeys 11 points12 points13 points 9 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

It's also funny since feminists often tout themselves as super empathetic and compassionate, but that's exposed as an obvious facade in light of this kind of shit.

[–]toodrunktodraft 0 points1 point2 points 9 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

When a woman accuses you of lacking empathy, what she is implying, more often than not, is that you need to shut up and submit to her demands.

[–]CountVonVague 0 points1 point2 points 9 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

I wonder how many guys become "unaccounted for victims of sexual abuse" when we consider how "normalized violence against men" is, like really, ever had a girl unexpectedly Grab you or get a little too drunk and wake up with a woman you'd rather not have slept with? Oops guess you're the 1 in 4!!

[–]SRSLovesGawker 2 points3 points4 points 9 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

Why the hell is it NEVER about them getting a man's "enthusiastic consent"?

To be fair, she is talking to her boy and his male friend, not to girls.

Would she have the same talk to girls? Well, that's anyone's guess. I mean, I know how I'D guess, and I'm guessing you'd guess the same, but it's still anyone's guess.

[–]manicmonkeys 2 points3 points4 points 9 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

I get your point, and there's a degree of validity to it. Having said that, I've seen countless instances of men being told they need to get affirmative consent from women, and literally not a single instance in my life of women being told they need affirmative consent from men (not saying that means it has never happened of course, that would be foolish), so it's not like it's a shot in the dark....a relatively educated guess, yknow?

[–]HotDealsInTexas 0 points1 point2 points 9 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Why does she automatically assume they aren't gay or bi though?

[–]tlahwm1 1 point2 points3 points 9 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

She also mentions that the son's friend needed to convince or coax his last partner into having sex because she was initially hesitant. Girls do that to guys all the time, too. There's nothing wrong with that. It only becomes a problem if someone says "No, I don't want to. Stop asking me."

[–]manicmonkeys 5 points6 points7 points 9 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Exactly. If I don't want to go to the town fair initially, but my friend convinces me to go there eventually, it doesn't mean I was abducted.

[–]newfoolery 0 points1 point2 points 9 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

[–]manicmonkeys 1 point2 points3 points 9 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

Men very rarely press charges against women for sexual assault, and we already know that very often this is due to the stigma, negative perception of their masculinity if they do (after all, men don't generally like being seen as victims), but I suspect you already know these things. Therefore, referring to how many men are CHARGED with sexual assault isn't necessarily relevant.

In addition, so the fuck what? Women not getting men's consent is obviously a problem, both from stories in the news, and definitely in my personal experience in life. So even if men ARE statistically more likely to commit this crime, since we know both genders have issues with how consent works, it should be addressed to both of them.

[–]newfoolery 0 points1 point2 points 9 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

This isn't even the point. Women are allowed the privilege of hypoagency when it comes to the dating game, even with the vanishingly small amount of men they'll admit they're attracted to. When only the person who approaches can commit sex crimes, and only men approach, what do you think is gonna happen?

[–]fengpi 146 points147 points148 points 9 years ago* (11 children) | Copy Link

I never imagined I would raise boys who would become men like these. Men who deny rape culture, or who turn a blind eye to sexism.

Golly. It's almost as if people resist having an ideology rammed-down their throats and maudlin attempts to manipulate them into following your political agenda.

The solution is clear: more stern, finger-wagging lectures that nobody asked for.

Yes, to be a "good man" you must do exactly as this woman commands. To not follow her diktat is to acquiesce to that gosh-darned invisible raep kulchir/flying spaghetti monster that only she can see.

[–]unbelievablepeople 69 points70 points71 points 9 years ago (8 children) | Copy Link

The way she writes this:

They’ve been listening to me talk about consent, misogyny and rape culture since they were tweens.

She sounds like she views her sons as two guinea pigs in her social science experiment to see if she can turn two boys into raging feminists. She seriously seems like she loves her ideas about rape culture more than she loves her sons. It's sad to think of two boys growing up in an environment like that. Fortunately they seem like they've got good heads on their shoulders. Perhaps they have men in their lives who are good role models.

[–][deleted] 28 points29 points30 points 9 years ago (4 children) | Copy Link

Gone Girl is the closest thing I can think of. I don't want to say too many spoilers, but the main antagonist frames her husband for her own murder and does some other stuff later that just shows how really psycho she is. I don't know about the book but in the movie she celebrated because they still see her as the victim and not the perpetrator. She gets away with everything, and no one but Ben Affleck's character knows anything.

[–]pvtshoebox 2 points3 points4 points 9 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

OK, I understand now. She is celebrated by the fictional society she is in but not by the author, narrator, or presumably the reader. We witness the injustice and loathe her for it.

Precisely. As the outside observer we are impressed at what she is able to accomplish, but we despise her for it. [–]ShakespearesDick 5 points6 points7 points 9 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

It is extremely popular to do now. An old friend of mine had a girlfriend that would always tell this rape story for a pity party. It was basically she didn't give "enthusiast consent", to use the article's term. Her boyfriend would always laugh it off when she brought it up. Claiming to be raped is a bragging right to a lot of women these days.

[–]CountVonVague 2 points3 points4 points 9 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Starting to be the same for men too. A former friend accused another friend of mine that "that one time they were really wasted and did butt stuff" was rape because the former friend was "too intoxicated" to consent. Both dudes. Another friend actually has legit Audio of the event ( due to his ex-gf having sent him an audio message she was sent by the former friend/"rape victim" where he talks about wanting Her to be there) and prove it was consensual. This former friend is also a Communist/Spiritualist/Futurist/SJW/Trans*genderfluid retard-kin who uses fictional labels as excuses for real-world behavior, preferred "they" pronouns obviously.

Indeed. One of the best comments:

Hiri

So Jody, did you get your sons informed and enthusiastic consent before you published an article in which they can be easily identified No? Thought not. You've effectively done something pretty close to raping them yourself.

Yet not one of the comments bothered to point out (as has Janice Fiamengo) the substantial argument for Turner's innocence - possibly reflecting sensationalist headlines and coverage to which the public has been subjected.

[–]v573v 20 points21 points22 points 9 years ago (6 children) | Copy Link

I always get the feeling that people who proselytize enthusiastic consent have not used it themselves.

I'm all for having the sex conversation before hand about everyone's likes, dislikes, lines, and boundries but during sex it's a cold shower.

If you want to pester your spouse do enthusiastic consent in your everyday life around them.

In fact, that's what her sons should do - apply enthusiastic consent in their everyday life with mom.

[–]unbelievablepeople 15 points16 points17 points 9 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

Under the strictest definition of "enthusiastic consent" I have been raped by every woman I've ever had sex with. I've never felt the need to tell a woman, "I consent to having sex with you," nor has any woman ever stopped and asked, "Are you consenting to having sex with me?" I just think the evangelists of the "enthusiastic consent" doctrine don't really grasp how human relationships work.

[–][deleted] 9 points10 points11 points 9 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Its more about controlling people's sex-lives than anything else. And giving women plausible deniability, of course.

[–]Philarete 5 points6 points7 points 9 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Even if someone gives express verbal consent, why is that better than the usual extremely obvious body language? It seems to miss how human communication works generally.

But they have never been sexually abused

Nope, but they sure as hell are being mentally abused. Think how awful it is to be called a rapist by your mother.

[–]unbelievablepeople 16 points17 points18 points 9 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

I wonder how she's so sure she knows her sons have never been sexually abused. She sounds like the type of woman who would teach her sons that rape is something a man does to a woman, and that men aren't rape victims. A boy who has been raised by a mom like that, and then gets sexually abused, probably wouldn't feel like he could tell her because he would think she would brush it off.

I hope for their sake that if they do ever experience any kind of victimization, there's some other adult in their lives they can go to.

[–]Mythandros 6 points7 points8 points 9 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

This is literally child abuse. If there was EVER a situation where a parent needed to lose custody of their kids for the good of their kids, this is that time.

[–][deleted] -1 points0 points1 point 9 years ago* (1 child) | Copy Link

Disagreed. Raising someone to share your (batshit) belief system isn't abuse and she isn't saying they're rapists, she's saying they encourage and condone 'rape culture' by their inaction.

[–]Mythandros 3 points4 points5 points 9 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

You can disagree if you like, but the fact remains that indoctrination into any belief system is harmful to a child. This is child abuse. The kids are just too smart to fall for it.

And in this broken system, anyone who isn’t with us is against us. Particularly, and especially, men. Even my own sons — even yours. It’s not enough to teach our sons about consent; we have to encourage them to have the courage to speak out against rape culture, too.

This is cult level nonsense.

Everyone who isn't part of the cult is an enemy. You should turn on your own family if they reject the true path to salvation.

I'm glad the kids have seen through it. Women like this shouldn't have sons. It's like a white supremacist adopting a black kid and raising him to hate himself.

We were sitting around the dinner table talking about the news. As soon as I mentioned the Stanford sexual assault case, my sons looked at each other. They knew what was coming.

So as expected with most feminists she's found one legitimate rape case vs hundreds of hoaxes and she's trying to force her sons to listen to her bullshit because that one incident somehow justifies all her bullshit and they have to listen to her because of it and it automatically means that because of how they were born they're somehow going to end up raping a girl as well.

I'm so glad to see that they're completely ignoring her, hopefully they'll be able to get out of that household fast before she starts getting really controlling and abusive. This is why it's so important to publicly counter the feminist propaganda, if it weren't for contradicting viewpoints and evidence spreading across the internet these boys would have ended up growing up as another bunch of self-hating idiot male feminists but they've clearly done their research and realised their mother is both stupid and crazy.

They don’t call each other out when they make sexist jokes or objectify women. It’s too uncomfortable to separate themselves from the pack so they continue to at least dip their toes into toxic masculinity.

Yeah, they don't call each other out because they don't try to make people uncomfortable and attack others over stuff which is obviously a joke and not actually fucking serious you deranged woman, no, jokes you find 'offensive' don't mean they're going to go around and treat women like shit. I bet having to spend family gatherings with her must be hell, feminists are the left wing version of the christian right who everybody bitched about for several years having to put up with whenever they sat at the table and now the situation has simply flipped on itself.

I am sick to death of people who think just because they're 'offended' by something it automatically gives them the right to go around acting like violent and deranged cunts, well guess what? I'm fucking offended by the total lack of respect for free speech and expression in this world and I've had enough.

Modern feminists by and large are bigots. Female supremacists.

They aren't murdering men or anything so they're not as bad as the KKK, but they do advocate for policies that would hurt men to benefit women the way racists would argue for policies to benefit their race over every other.

Well for starters every time they push a quota for women that means a certain amount of men won't get that position.

They oppose default shared custody for fathers in divorce.

They're pushing to get more women in to college when women are already 65% of incoming freshmen (meaning they will increase that gap).

They advocate lessening legal protections for men accused of rape to ensure more convictions (and of course more innocent men in jail).

The of course there's the Duluth Model which has sent many abused men to jail.

I can go on but I'm guessing there's no point since this likely isn't getting through . . .

No, no! I'm genuinely interested. I identify as feminist, but I would like to know more about the men's rights movement because it seems that, ideally, both these movements should be working together for across-the-board equality.

Fair enough. But please keep in mind we've had numerous feminists come through here who say essentially "but we're all the same! We should work together!".

In real life every time MRAs try to get together feminists attempt to shut it down and call them rape-supporters.

A dialogue with feminists is pretty much a non-starter.

They aren't interested in working with anyone.

It makes more sense if you realize modern feminists are a female advocacy lobby rather than an equality movement.

Expecting them to work with MRAs is about like expecting oil lobbyists to advocate honestly and faithfully for a balanced energy policy that gives solar and wind and other oil-alternatives an equal stake.

It's not going to happen.

But stick around. It's great to get different opinions.

Jesus Christ. I remember in the 80s there was a cultural thing of films and books by writers who'd been brought up as strict Catholics and were using their fiction to work through the problems they had as a result of being indoctrinated with the idea that they were indelibly tainted to the core by original sin.

I look forward in 10 or 15 years time to similar books and films by the children of feminist mothers (and fathers).

It's very much a similar brand of tactics that the christian right used to use and still attempt to some degree, they just don't have the same power and influence they once did now. The left are now adopting the same kind of tactics they're attacking the media, our hobbies and children the exact same way.

I don't want to see people being taken in by either of these ideological fanatics, they're all just as bad.

[–]Philarete 3 points4 points5 points 9 years ago (7 children) | Copy Link

I'm a Christian, on the right, and I just want to say that at least we have grace, forgiveness, and a general understanding that we all mess up sometimes.

"For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith--and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God--not by works, so that no one can boast." (Ephesians 2:8-9). Contrast this with, "And in this broken system, anyone who isn’t with us is against us. Particularly, and especially, men. Even my own sons — even yours. It’s not enough to teach our sons about consent; we have to encourage them to have the courage to speak out against rape culture, too." Basically the only way free from the original sin of toxic masculinity is through works (e.g. speaking out against rape culture).

This is why I end up defending you guys at times though and it's really fucking annoying because I've still got a bone to pick with you guys about gays and attitudes towards sex, relationships and porn in general but because the left is that bad now I'm actually forced to defend you precisely because I know the majority of you aren't that bad and there are those of you who openly criticise the really awful aspects of your religion.

Most of the batshit insane types who really are misogynist and have idiotic views about women have little to no influence and are generally laughed at, yet your opposite numbers on the left are given free reign and even have the ear of mainstream politicians like Hillary Clinton as we've seen.

I keep an eye on you when it comes to trying to push marriage etc. on desperate people but most of the time when you're attacked by the left they come up with the most ridiculous bullshit to attack you with.

[–]Philarete 5 points6 points7 points 9 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

I've still got a bone to pick with you guys about gays and attitudes towards sex, relationships and porn in general

And always feel free to criticize, we don't even agree among ourselves and it's helpful to have outside opinions at times.

For example, a distressingly high number of my conservative friends think we should outlaw porn while I think that is absolutely crazy. Would lead to hilarious prohibition stories though.

I'm more disturbed about the way you guys treat bloody cartoon porn, you claim you're against the idea of jailing someone over drawing Mohammed for instance yet some fanatics of yours have gone and made some niche laws where you treat hentai for instance as 'child pornography' even though it isn't even real and people can actually and have gone to jail for simply having it on their hard drive.

That's a discussion for a different time though :P right now my main focus is to try and break up the left and their stranglehold on absolutely all media and art. The games industry is about the only place that's successfully resisting these deranged monsters.

And even though we are corrupted by original sin, it isn't like we aren't capable of doing good at all. We can, in fact, keep the Law outwardly. We can restrain our flesh from acting on our sinful desires, even if we still have sinful desires.

Luther wrote in his later Galatians commentary about two kinds of righteousness - a vertical righteousness that is before God, and a horizontal righteousness that is before men. Before God, the only way we can be righteous is through Christ's death on the cross. We cannot achieve it of ourselves. But before men, we can achieve some degree of righteousness. This is what James was writing about in his letter - that if you claim you're righteous because you have faith in Christ, but go on doing evil, no one is going to believe you're righteous.

But with feminism, there is no recourse for the original sin of being a man. There is only penance to be made by submitting yourself to the altar of woman. And, just like with trying to achieve righteousness before God by our works, it will never be enough. Feminism will always have more for men to do, more for men to give up for themselves, more for men to give to women. And it will never, ever be enough.

[–]Philarete 2 points3 points4 points 9 years ago* (0 children) | Copy Link

Because there is never forgiveness or a promise of unity at the end. "Therefore, there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus, because through Christ Jesus the law of the Spirit who gives life has set you free from the law of sin and death. . . . Now if we are children [of God], then we are heirs—heirs of God and co-heirs with Christ, if indeed we share in his sufferings in order that we may also share in his glory." Romans 8:1-2, 18.

At the end of the day, the male feminist is still male. There is no new identity and the penance will always be incomplete.

EDIT: Added phrase to make my quotation make more sense out of its context.

I look forward to the coming counter reaction to the excesses of the previous generation.

Feminism is already losing popularity. Parents like this woman are certainly doing their part to create the next generations anti-feminists.

I mean, I agree with her on the consent before sex part (saying something like "are you sure" before engaging), but the fact that her sons don't scold their freind for having sex with his gf is not even any of her business.

[–]bertreapot 2 points3 points4 points 9 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

encouraging someone to do anything isn't forcing them to do it. it could take some encouraging to convince a friend to dive off an outcrop into a deep lake for fun, that doesn't mean you pushed him in there. The same with drinking; "I really didn't want to drink, but my friends talked me into it." Well, they didn't hold you down and force you to drink it, did they? Parents need to teach their children that they are still responsible for doing the things that they choose to do. The guy you fucked isn't a rapist because you later regretted sex.

[–]CaptainTeaBag24I7 1 point2 points3 points 9 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

I'm not saying anything about rape here. I'm just confused as to what point the lady in the article was trying to get to. It's all about rape culture and such, yet nothing has happened to prompt such a response. If she was raped, that's terrible and the man/woman responsible should be punished. But just because people are going out with the sole purpose of getting sex, that isn't rape culture. That's just some people wanting to feel good. Mind that I said people, not men. Women want to go out to get sex just ad much as men do.

[–][deleted] 5 points6 points7 points 9 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Did she have enthusiastic consent from her sons about talking of them in such a prominent article?

This is Boy-shaming on her own sons!

[–][deleted] 5 points6 points7 points 9 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

Why do lots of women CLEARY want a gender war?

[–]5th_Law_of_Robotics 4 points5 points6 points 9 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

I think in this case she just hates men.

Also why they argue so fervently that misandry couldn't possibly exist.

[–][deleted] 2 points3 points4 points 9 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Hating men means wanting a gender war to me...and there seem to be lots of haters these days.

[–]Madlutian 4 points5 points6 points 9 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

They sure as hell have been psychologically abused.

If it helps, the author is a known fantasist (a reporter who makes up stories, sources, etc. in order to weave an entertaining or outrageous yarn). She has written several articles under that name, indicating that she hates her children for a variety of reasons, from her son's rape apologia to her daughter's autism. She claims to have seven kids, each of them with severe genetic or moral faults, and whom almost certainly don't exist.

[–]mwobuddy 6 points7 points8 points 9 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

her daughter's autism

Thats a legitimate reason. Who wants to be saddled with that?

She actually has a history of animal neglect and has been reported to child protective services. Google her name. Her ex husband made a formal complaint accusing her of "medical abuse" of a child which is a a type of Munchausen Syndrome by proxy.

[–][deleted] 5 points6 points7 points 9 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

My sons contribute to rape culture cause they don't believe all men are potential rapist. She basically hates men so much she hates her own sons. Plus she's from Seattle.

Google her and read her past article about CPS trying to take kids away. An agency in Seattle wrote a report about her accusing of animal neglect and also mentioned that CPS has been called on her in the past. At the end of her CPS article she admits that she has been accused of MCA (Medical Child Abbuse, a form of Munchausen Syndrome by proxy) by her ex-husband.

[–]bertreapot 3 points4 points5 points 9 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Really, your sons don't subscribe to an ideology that presumes they are proto-rapists in waiting? Perhaps good, innocent people don't like being called criminals just because of their sex.

Their friend who encouraged his girlfriend to have sex isn't a rapist, either. Your peers can encourage you to do things that you regret, that doesn't mean they forced you to do it, or that you aren't responsible for your own actions.

[–]Lunatcharsky 3 points4 points5 points 9 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

The more she wrote, the more she destroyed her own position. It wasn't that they disregard rape or victims, it was that she didn't consider them "allies" to her cause. Because they don't agree with her 100%.

[–]ProfessorFog 4 points5 points6 points 9 years ago (7 children) | Copy Link

Can someone explain to me what rape culture is? Not the Oxford definition please.

[–]GTB3NW 15 points16 points17 points 9 years ago (6 children) | Copy Link

It's belief that our current culture is so sexualized it's encouraging rape like behaviour in all men.

By rape like behaviour that's including anything a women feels uncomfortable with, including after the fact.

[–]ProfessorFog 11 points12 points13 points 9 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

Let's teach rapist not to rape. While we're at it let's teach robbers not to rob because I hate having to lock my door. And killers not to murder.

But woman gets drunk and has sex with a guy and regrets it in the morning. It's rape because she didn't want it or she was drunk? That's like drunk driving doing something bad and saying, I was drunk, I wouldn't have done that if I was sober. You're responsible for your actions drunk or not.

Rape culture is the dumbest thing I've heard of this year.

[–]acelister 2 points3 points4 points 9 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Damn murder culture and burglary culture...

[–][deleted] 2 points3 points4 points 9 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

According to posters, where the woman was "raped" because she was drunk and couldn't give consent, I learned that women apparently lose control of their actions and lose responsibility of their decisions more easily than do men.

[–][deleted] 5 points6 points7 points 9 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

It's rape when the woman sobers up and realizes she banged a man that no other woman wants to bang.

[–]ProfessorFog 1 point2 points3 points 9 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

One more thing, so a girl is getting hit on and she doesn't like it. She/he doesn't tell the person to stop because they're nice, it still ends up as 'rape' because she doesn't like it?

[–]GTB3NW 1 point2 points3 points 9 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

I wouldn't go into the hypothetical situations since it just ends up being outrage porn and an appeal to emotion. Don't get yourself worked up about it. It exists, these people are a minority screaming these things and frankly the tide is no longer in their favour, everyone got fed up of their shit.

Such a brave article...Some other articles Jody has written in his series include:

"I have to learn to care for my suicidal teen"

"My kids need trigger warnings"

"My daughter is a gift, her autism is not"

"I took my kids to the Ferguson protest"

"My adopted sister tried to kill me (repeatedly)"

"I'm a single mom of 7 and couldn't be happier"

"My DNA is keeping me hostage"

"I'm a rape survivor with a rape apologist son"

"My teenager is drinking and using drugs"    All must reads from this wonderful mother of 7 healthy normal children.

This is ridiculous, why is she putting not only herself on blast but shaming her own sons with this crap. There are other ways to be heard without going completely anal. It's a one sided story, and women are always the victims right. I call bullshit!

[–]zenguyva 1 point2 points3 points 9 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Guess Mom has issues. She's alienated her sons because she won't listen. Teenagers, like all sentient beings, like to be treated with respect and heard. I'm sure you'd see similar approaches to debate at KKK meeting. Intolerance isn't the property of any point of view.

[–]Mythandros 1 point2 points3 points 9 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

I feel very sorry for these boys, seeing as how much poison their mother is trying to force into their heads. It's a good thing these boys are WAY smarter than their mother. She is a feminist after all, so even toddlers could mentally trounce her. What a horrible, horrible excuse for a woman.

I’m a survivor of rape and sexual abuse. My sons know this like they know I was once a reporter and I love curries and coffee.

You know that saying, "dont talk to me til ive had my coffee." for her the saying is, "dont talk to me til ive had my coffee AND retold the story of my sexual assault and gauged your reaction to my story. If I find your reaction is not sufficient then, you have to listen to why youre part of the problem and how you are contributing to the rape culture we live in".

[–]chuck258 1 point2 points3 points 9 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

"My teenage sons are blind to rape culture"

No,they're not, you've evidently been cramming it down their throat for several years, they're just tired of fucking hearing about it. The more you cram it down their throat, the more you sound like you are accusing them of doing something abhorrent.

Nothing wrong with teaching your kids that forcing themselves on women can be wrong, but constantly berating them about it isn't going to make them any less likely to do it (rape)

[–]Revorob 0 points1 point2 points 9 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Credit to the two sons who despite having a nutbar feminazi for a mom, still managed to turn out well-adjusted. I have seen no end of examples of women like this completely fucking-up their children. Seriously, feminism needs to be regarded as a mental illness and feminists need to be banned from having children.

[–]baserace 0 points1 point2 points 9 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

I’m a survivor of rape and sexual abuse.

"I'm projecting the loathing from my own bad experiences onto my sons, the penis-enabled bastards that they are."

Spread this article far and wide to your feminist friends with young sons as a warning of how this shit turns out if you treat your sons and view men as cunts by nature. They aren't going to like you. They are going to call you out on your bullshit. You're going to drive a wedge between you and them, and between them and women.

[–]AlexReynard 0 points1 point2 points 9 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

I happen to have been the victim of many long years of child abuse. It is enough for me to simply heal from that trauma and move on. I do not need to invent a false nightmare reality where everyone hates child abuse victims, in order to perpetuate my victim status in my own mind so I can beg for sympathy forever.

[–]GingerJack76 0 points1 point2 points 9 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

But they have never been sexually abused, and they can’t fathom what it’s like to stand in a scalding hot shower trying to burn away the touch of a stranger’s hands...But they aren’t willing to sacrifice their own comfort for my sake, or for anyone else.

Co-Dependence much? Not to mention I've been raped and I didn't try to burn off my skin. Holy Christ...

Not all men, they remind me, and my guts wrench as my own sons mimic the vitriol of a thousand online trolls...My sons are good boys, just like thousands of other good boys in America. They understand consent and they won’t rape an unconscious woman behind a dumpster.

Kinda saying they are rapists...

And in this broken system, anyone who isn’t with us is against us. Particularly, and especially, men. Even my own sons — even yours.

Man she is frighting. She needs help, and those boys need to go to someone who's sane. Fuck...I need a drink.

Lots of gold in the comments section.

You know it's a hate movement when parents begin to throw their own children to the mob.

Ooft.

You just publically shamed your sons, in a newspaper with an international circulation, for showing insufficient ideological conformity and for not being fervent enough ideologues in their private relationships. And you think they are part of the problem.

Anyone able to fully screenshot the comments section before it's inevitably nuked either now or in the future?

[–]onetimeuser111 0 points1 point2 points 9 years ago* (0 children) | Copy Link

I just googled authors name and a "Ripoff Report" popped up about her past history of animal neglect and past reports to child protective services. I am sure it is same person as name, pic, city and "mother of 7 kids" was used to ID her. I would post link , but not sure if it is allowed, but google her name plus the words: "rippoff report".

So she may have a history of child neglect.

I am not trying to publicly shame her, but she is the one who has put herself out to the public. Many of us here have speculated that she may be unfit to parent with mental issues, and this is possibly more proof.

[–]onetimeuser111 0 points1 point2 points 9 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

The author of this article is on Facebook and she posted her article and it is open for comments. she is encouraging discussion as a writer/blogger. I would put a link, but i am not sure if it is allowed, but just go to facebook and type in her name and you can give her your opinion.

Future MRAs for sure. They are probably already here.
