Yes. Private golf clubs are a good example.

I used to caddy at one where women, Blacks and Latinos were all banned. Only "white" and Asian members allowed. There were Jewish people and a few openly gay guys that allegedly walked around the clubhouse naked (this could just have been a weird story to tell new caddys, we weren't allowed in the clubhouse so we never found out if it was true.)

One time some new B caddy's Mom came to pick him up and instead of taking the driveway to the caddy shack, she drove right up to the clubhouse. We could hear the valets screaming at her to get the hell out of there and this was private property.

Another odd thing was that there were black people who would play there but they were only allowed as guests. I saw Michael Jordan play there as a guest on numerous occasions but I was never a caddy in his foursome.

Women were expressly forbidden though, except for the occasional group of strippers they'd bring in.

That's not really the same thing though, because barbershops are basically just businesses specialized in doing hair/beards for men. Hair salons don't generally trim your beards. It's a different service for legitimate reasons. A woman can still go into a barbershop and get a haircut. It may not do as good of a job, depending on the style she's going for, because they aren't equipped to deal with them. A man with very long and fancy hair probably wouldn't really be going to a barbershop for styling either. The differentiating factor here is not gender but rather style and equipment.

Women only gyms however, are there specifically to exclude men because they are men. Women-only gyms exist because there is a market for sexist women who simply do not want to be around men, because they are men. Women who don't feel "comfortable" around men and yet feel perfectly comfortable around bigger, louder and more aggressive women. The equipment women use is the same men use. It is straight up sexism from the women who support these gyms and straight up sexism from the gyms who enable these women.

Ah yes, the holy vagina is unable to lie. A lady would faint immediately onto the nearest fainting couch if she were to merely think of telling a fabrication!

Liars aside. You can find women that will say both by the way. It's all just someone's anecdotal evidence.

I bet you can find men who have been groped or sexually harassed by women in gyms too. But you'll again, find men who have had no problems. And again, some can lie. Because humans do that; they do other fun things too, they misread situations, have false memories, and they allow negative experiences to wipe away all positive and neutral experiences; vastly clouding their judgement of a "problem".

Example; "street harassment", you remember the guy who said he wants to grab your pussy, and the guy who came up to you asking for sex. And they erase the millions of men and women you've passed without any incident, some probably with some pleasantries.

Negative experiences and emotions, are more memorable and powerful. So people can't be relied on at all when they are telling you how "bad" something really is. "It's a huge problem", is it though?

Thank you for saying this. People get too caught up in their own emotions about this issue, but they don't sit down to understand that economics tell us that implications of allowing businesses to make this decision would be slim to none. Businesses seek profits and if they refuse to serve a group that leaves an opportunity for a new business to cater to that group and the businesses that make a choice not to will be forced to adapt or close.

I would say yes it does go that far. Having the freedom to do something doesn't mean you should though! Basic economics would tell us that a business that only chose to serve white people would quickly be competed out of the marketplace and would be forced to change that policy or die. Full disclosure, I'm a pretty big libertarian and that has definitely shaped my view on this topic.

All men have to do is claim they are not cis.

"Im a woman that chooses to look and act like a man, I just happen to have a penis and still be attracted to women. If you say that I made this up to use your gym you are oppressing me and the entirety of facebook will say really mean things about how bigoted you are." - just for lulz.

But i don't see the problem with these types of gyms but there is a huge double standard. I believe that business owners should be able to choose how they run their concern, if there choice is to lets say not service blacks, it should be respected. If a private business wants to run their place like this so be it. I just think its funny that if you were to open a "whites only" gym under the premise that white people want a place to work-out in a space free of violent crime then statistically you would be right but you would get sued into oblivion.
