When I was a young man, Carrie Fisher was the most beautiful creature I had ever seen. She turned out to be witty and bright as well.

Got enough complaints he deleted it. Granted tons of people defended it. I think less would defend the above without the lesbians. Even if it's friends, as a lot of people are using to defend it. Particularly with the Weinstein stuff

I think if Katy has no issue with it, then it's a non-issue in itself.

But it is a sad state of affairs that we can't hold consistent standards for what we as a society view as "outrageous" and "unacceptable" behavior. Either doing this is fine, or it isn't. I wish we could just fucking pick one and move on.

Baseless anecdotal experience: my wife works with tons of lesbians who constantly harass her at work. She's heard, are you sure you aren't bisexual (after repeatedly being told no)-oh bro's gone we should go out to dinner(after repeatedly being told no)- can I touch your breasts to see if they are real-to out right unwanted touching. I work with many gay men, who are professional, polite, and some are great friends who never harass me. Why do women who like women get a pass?

I'm guessing women wouldn't generally feel uncomfortable if Ellen joked sexually about them. I don't blame them; she a generally loving and joking face on TV. If however Ellen would to take a more "Weintstein" role in TV and use her position to sexually abuse actors, the situation would probably be more uncomfortable.

I notice this kind of thing a lot on talent shows like America's Got Talent. The female judges get very animated when commenting on attractive male contestants. They make comments directly about the sexual appearance of good looking guys quite a bit. Once I noticed that happen a few times I made a note to remember if any male judge did anything similar for any female contestants. And I've never seen it happen going the other way. Even when Howard Stern was on the show I don't recall him ever sexualizing the contestants in the way that Heidi and Mel do with the guys.

It's not the end of the world, but there's a clear double-standard. Woman can get away with saying things that men cannot. At some point you wake up and notice the difference.

Except context is everything and the context here is that there has been generations and a long history of powerful men harassing less powerful women. Somethings are but not everything is as simple as trading pronouns because it ignores our history and lived experiences. In saying all that: man, woman, gay or straight, it's really not a good idea to boast about ogling others and commenting on their bodies.
