So they kidnapped a bunch of girls and married them off. The WORLD LOST ITS SH*T. Every world leader weighed in. Hashtags and memes about it dominated the landscape.

Killing a group of young men with fire gets no response. Kidnapping the young women gets the whole world upset.

You really think they care about the dichotomy of male genital mutilation versus female genital mutilation? If they did...they would just call it genital mutilation instead of attaching a gender tag.

Genital mutilation isn’t ok unless you’re doing something to your genitals. Then have at it.

I refused to let my son out of my sight at the hospital bc I didn’t want him accidentally circumcised.

If he wants to get circumcised later, then he can, but it’s not my penis and it’s not my decision. I really really really wish hospitals/drs would stop doing this unless medically necessary.

There is literally no reason for circumcision to be done outside of critically medically necessary reasons, and those cases are very rare.

i had my foreskin removed at birth, and at 15 i am learning about all the stuff wrong with my dick my mother told me was natural when i was younger is actually side effects from the circumcision, like i have a penile skin bridge, hair, loss of sensation, all of that. i would like to have the option, and all people should choose what happens to their body.

As a parent to be, how do I ensure my son who will be born in the US to not have his genitals mutilated? Our OB knows our preference, but that to me still seems way too much of a risk given like half of all boys are mutilated.

Circumcising infants is a violation of bodily autonomy, full stop. This alone is reason enough not to do it. There's also no compelling medical benefits for non-therapeutic circumcision.

When I discovered that circumcision was exactly the same as female genital mutilation but for boys I was pissed. I was upset I lost so much feeling I could have had, and I was upset feminism didn’t make it illegal when they did for girls.

Along with the debunking of all the myths of circumcision being necessary to be clean there really is no point to having one. I wish it wasn’t normalized, and i wish feminism had done better on the equality side to protect young boys and not just young girls.

It’s just another barbaric act that doesn’t really serve a purpose in todays world actually. I don’t even thing there’s even a need to be doing that in the first place and there’s no scientific reason that it should be done. I’m my bloodline, I’m gonna encourage every male that’s born to not have that done to then. Be it my sons, sons of my sons, sons of my daughters etc, there’s no reason a boys penis should be under the knife after birth.

Infant circumcision should be banned ! Nobody can make decision for other genital, unless themselves. Btw, circumcision is not about cutting off a skin, but male sensitivity and sex pleasure! I read a lot information about the circumcisions and all the infor is lie and cheat the parent and young boy to get cut because circumcisions is billion dollar industry! The expert and Dr said if intact you might get Aids is totally bullshit, even you cut and have unprotected sex with strangers, you will get aids too ! It is not about foreskin but your sex behaviour. If foreskin is the cause of aids , UTI or penis cancer, why people don't cut tongue to prevent tongue cancer? All circumcisions should be performed after 18 unless get doctor and the boy approval. If no uterus no opinion, then why our boy forskin is your business? I was cut during 20, and I can tell the difference. Foreskin bring more pleasure for me and now I feel numb on my glans and I feel frustrated. Foreskin is the best gift from God.

While I don't agree, I can understand why FGM gets much more outrage compared to MGM. Based on what I've seen, it does way more damage.

HOWEVER MGM doesn't inspire any outrage outside of intactivist groups. Like, approach someone on the street and ask them about FGM, and they'll respond with outrage and horror. Ask about MGM and they either won't care, or will actively support it. It's super disgusting. At best they'll cite the "benefits" which have long since been disproven, or they'll cite appearance/hygiene. To that, I say 1) imagine if I said I asthetically preferred women who were victims of FGM. That wouldn't go over well. 2) regardless as to whether you have foreskin or not, you should be cleaning your penis. End of story. If you have a bad experience with one person who has bad hygiene, that's their problem. Not a burden for all newborns to bear.

As a circumcised male, I've never really had an issue with it, ever. According to what I can find on google, there's no loss in sexual pleasure or stimulation, and again, I've never had any issues in that regard either. While I prefer the look of circumcised penis, having grown up with one myself, I'm straight and don't look at other people's dicks all that often. I think it's an outdated tradition that isn't needed at all in today's society, however, I'm completely indifferent to whether others do it.

FGM however is a completely different story. More often than not they're damaging or removing sexual glands, rather than a piece of insignificant skin.

Even if i am not a big fan of circumcision, you dont have to study a lot the subject to see the differences with female ones. With the female one you dont only cut the skin around the clitoris but the external part of the clitoris too ! And thats just the softest kind of female circumcision. Type 2 they also cut the small lip of the vulva, type 3 they kind of cut everything and close the vagina with stiches of sutures :/

As a circumcized gay man that has been with cut and uncut men, I have run into a lot of issues with proper men's hygiene with men who are uncut. I honestly prefer cut for myself and my partners, and have no issues at all with extreme sexual pleasure without a foreskin. I'm sure it's different for everybody, and I myself am a nymph.

I will say I do not agree with parents making the decision for their sons, however, I am glad my parents chose to circumcise me, as I am not sure I would have had the strength to do it myself. I prefer the hygiene benefits, STD transmition benefits, and the over all aesthetics

So I guess I say I like circumcision, however, it should be a bodily choice made by the person it's going to be performed on.

(Ps, my father was uncircumcised, and was considering getting circumcised, and that's why he made the choice for me. His best friend also got circumcised after his first daughter, and had a talk with me about it personally saying he has preferred sex and hygiene after the circumcision)

So as a nurse who has seen both newborns and adults being circumcised I just want to weigh in here. In newborns the only pain medication they get is some sugar water and the several I have seen were done by a very good OB and those boys did not cry out once. Now as a surgical nurse I have assisted in multiple adult circumcisions and let me tell you no matter who the doctor was or how skilled those men were in tears in the recovery room. Extreme pain. All the circumcisions I've seen on adults were performed for infections of the foreskin which to my knowledge is said to be very painful and if not treated can lead to penilectomy or removal of the whole penis. There is most definitely a medical reason for circumcisions. Now the frequency of these infections in the population to culturally force the circumcision of newborns can be debated but these infections do happen and those who have a circumcision as an adult do state how painful it is.

There is also the religious aspect of male circumcision. In Jewish and Christian religion circumcising your son is seen as a act of coven between you and the Lord. It is promising that this man will be brought up a certain way and taught certain religious morals.

Female circumcision is completely medically unnecessary unless there is cancer or infection of the vulva. In which case a vulvectomy is performed to remove the cancer or infection. Usually removing as little as possible while obtaining clear borders of the cancer or infection. In the majority of places FGM is performed it is to remove sexual satisfaction since in women the majority of nerve endings are removed with the tissue. At least that is my understanding. I have not seen this in person but have taken care of several patients who had this performed at a young age due to various circumstances, none of them good. Hope this helps.

Cause it looks pretty gross. Also cause it leads to infections where you have to get it removed later in life when it will be 100x more painful. Babies don't cry if it's a skilled ob. You'll be crying every day when your an adult. Espicially having morning wood rip out the stitches everyday.

Disagreeing with those against circumcision is pointless, because they always make comparisons like female circumcision. It’s not the same and doesn’t have the same effects or fall out. One is done to REMOVE a female’s ability to orgasm easily, the other is done because of perceived medical benefits, regardless if they are legit or not. But the difference is, circumcised men are fully functional, and circumcised women are not.

Note: Don’t bother trying to argue with me about this, or bringing your hate at me. I don’t care. I truly don’t. So tired of seeing this topic come across my feed….

personally, i think that it's not necessary. but i also do believe that there's some things i don't know about the procedure.
circumcision was necessary in old times because the genitals are a germ ridden place, and people in those days rarely had showers, so to avoid infection they would cut it off.

however, now that hygiene is much more common and a basic standard, i don't think it's necessary. correct me if i'm wrong.
