I don't understand why people frame it as though you have to either assume guilt or assume the woman is lying. We shouldn't automatically prosecute or shun a guy who's been accused of rape because of the possibility the woman is lying, but that doesn't mean we have to assume the woman is lying and punish or berate her for lying.

Feminists should be equally against false accusations. It trivializes rape, and makes society question possible victim's motives with more scrutiny. It's a telling sign in their position that they're not for justice, rather favoring one gender.

In college I have been told that having regrets after drunk sex can be considered rape, even if it was consensual beforehand.

You know how things happen in the heat of the moment: if a girl is into you and you are into her, and you both want sex but are drunk, chances are you not going to hold yourself back.

I would like to know what /r/mensrights feels about this position. As a guy, it really scares me that at my school a girl can have regrets after a one night stand with me and get me potentially investigated.

I really want to see the laws defining rape changed. I've been drunk, many times. Getting drunk does not completely shut down your ability to make decisions. You are still perfectly capable of deciding whether or not you want to have sex, or do anything.

There is a big difference between agreeing to sex while drunk, and raping someone who is drunk who can't defend themselves.

This is why having sexual assault experts to handle these cases is such a good idea. Normal law enforcement tend to either assume girls are lying (and often say insensitive things to them) or take their word as gospel truth and not dare to ask them questions.

People who are specifically trained to deal with this stuff know how to ask all of the questions that need to be asked, while still being sensitive. They know how to identify liars (and hate them with a burning passion, since their lies make real victims less credible). It's possible to make sure that the accused are guilty without treating every girl like a liar.
