Disclaimer: I’m not a man. I don’t have a penis so I’m not gonna pretend like I know what that life is like.

BUT I would for sure discourage anyone, man or woman, to get a medical operation just to stand in solidarity with a group. All medical procedures have risks and shouldn’t be taken lightly. From what I’ve learned, vasectomies aren’t always “reversible” like people often like to say they are. And what if the doctor makes a mistake, or you get a terrible infection? Shit is hitting the fan, but I wouldn’t make a life altering move like that based on emotion rn.

People support women who want to tie their tubes because they support women.

But people urge and encourage men to get vasectomies for women.

Point is, the majority who support men to do it don't give a micro fuck about the men or their choices, they just want men to do things for women no matter if it hurts men either. I spoke with a small organization for vasectomies and my God the way they speak in such a condescending way to men while telling them to get one. It's disgusting.

Men, if you want to do it, think about YOUR life. What YOU want. How YOU will feel. Absolutely never do it because of a woman or for one, or for a fake movement that just redirected their hate for abortion ban to men and want them to suffer. It's your body.

I think the better way to look at it is that some men don't want kids. At all. I for one don't want one and if abortion is off the table, then this exists as a way to prevent pregnancy. I would never do it to stand in solidarity with women.

The question is, is it a sound choice? It depends on where you are coming from:

You already have seven kids? Please yes.
You know you don't want to have kids ever? A sound yes.
You want to have kids some day but not tomorrow, you understand the risks involved and have weighed your other options for birth control but conclude a vasectomy is still your best option? A sensible yes.
You're loaded, not just sperm wise, but money too, and you are afraid of getting baby trapped. That's a reasonable yes.
You're bummed that abortion in the US is at risk but rather than doing your part to make it legal federal wide, you see an oppertunity to sneakingly market yourself as the safe sex option for woman afraid of unwanted pregnancies? That would be a questionable yes. But only because the gene pool will thank you later for your lack of contribution.
You believe it will give you a pass to have condomless sex? No. It's only a matter of time before women will view vasectomies with suspicion if they don't already. But yes, because again, gene pool reasons.

They can freeze sperm to use later. Also they can retrieve sperm from the testicles even after the vasectomy. Because body still produces them, it just isn’t in the ejaculate. You aren’t really losing fertility.

There are also options to adopt or use sperm from the sperm bank if someone wants to take on the project of raising a human.

I got a vasectomy for a different reason. I don’t want kids and I had to accept that society will never give me the choice of declining parenthood. So I had to take matters into my own hands. Now I’m free of someone forcing me to pay 18 years worth of child support. Or trying to manipulate me into staying in a relationship I don’t want.
