But in terms of physical attraction yes. Women judge men on a number of factors, so finding a guy that a group can agree on as conventionally attractive is rare.

You know how men have the 0-10 scale? And most men are pretty close with their scoring to one another?

Women have a 0 - 2 scale. 0 is the “no way, never”. You’re just unattractive to her. 1 is the doesn’t move the needle either way. She’s not chasing you or right swiping your dating app but if she sees your personality, how people react to you, charisma, etc she can become attracted to that total package. 2 is “yes this guy is hot” aka maybe 10% of men

Majority of guys are in the 1 camp. This is why guys can have success IRL but not on dating apps. They have to build attraction in other ways

Part of it is the idea of ATTRACTIVE plays within a value system that lends itself toward femme stengths. Attractive means literally “drawing things to you” and given the passive femme / pursuing masculine dynamic, women will always be more “attractive” overall in that sense.

Men are more likely to be a binary, good looking or unattractive.

Women seem to fall more in the middle. At least in their 20s and 30s, most women seem to fall in the average or decent looking category.

Most women with some minor make-up, doing their hair up and putting on a nice dress with heels and voila, they're decent looking now.

Men unfortunately, you could put a guy in a three piece Givenchy suit and if he's unattractive, odds are he'll look like an unattractive guy with nice clothes on.

Makeup and similar things like hair care are normalized in women and not men. Meaning a woman who's attractive can have 40 minutes of work put into it. There's no shortage of women with weird chins or brow lines or whatever who can just hide it.

The problem is the blue pill myth that young boys are fed ... that a man’s looks don’t matter ... that girls aren’t as interested in sex or physical appearance the way men are ... and that a man’s value rests more in his income, assets, and his “good/nice” of a person he is (because woman masturbate to thoughts of the Pope or men donating money to children’s hospitals).

As a result, even though “at birth” the distribution is pretty balanced and even, if you measure the amount of TIME AND MONEY that women spend on their physical appearance versus the amount that men spend on their physical appearance, you can expect to see a high-end heavy curve for women and low-end heavy curve for men (including diet, exercise, fashion, style, lighting and basic photography and angle/posing concepts ... men just don’t care as much as women do, and therefore, put in A LOT LESS effort into these things).

So, if the “methodology” being used depends almost exclusively on visual appearances, then it’s really no surprise that women rate most men “below average” and men rage most women “above average.”

like most things, there is a wider range of variability in men than in women. women are more clustered around the average, but it's a wider bell curve for men with more at the very extremes. so there are more very ugly men, but also more uberChads walking around that look like fucking greek gods. most attractive and even "hot" women are far from aesthetically perfect, it's just that they have enough good features that their flaws, imperfections, weird proportions, and other odd fratures get ignored or downplayed.

another issue is that men are hornier in general while women have a more hypergamous focus. most men would probably fuck an average or even slightly below average woman, women have higher standards.

My opinion on this subject is that this is more of an issue of "he's not my type" rather than more men being ugly. Men come in more variety in general whereas types of women are more "basic". I believe this is due to our culture more than anything. Men are more likely to nurture what makes them unique whereas women or more likely to conform to beauty standards. The result is men's desirability is more niche and specific whereas traits that make women desirable are more broad and simple. Women are vanilla ice cream, chocolate ice-cream and strawberry. Men are all the other flavors. Those other flavors aren't worse, they are just more specialized. Its easy to like vanilla, but my favorite is mint chocolate chip.

This grates against my egalitarian leanings, but I think the answer is yes.

It's no easy question: I sure find most men ugly, but I am no woman. Women look at men differently. Men don't find other men better-looking when they are wealthy, on the other hand women don't seem to care for really big muscles. Then again women online love to explain how they find 999 out of 1000 men ugly or uninteresting, so I dunno.

What's a fact is that men don't fulfil their handsomeness potential through a lack of grooming, self-care and dressing well. Then again we aren't really allowed to. Think about it: Everything a man could theoretically do to artificially improve his looks (hair implants, dyes, toupets, makeup, platform soles, padding to simulate muscles, corsage, surgery) would make everybody consider him a pathetic creep. "I won't date a man who takes longer in the morning to groom than me" is a stock phrase on female German-language online dating profiles. So a man with craggy skin, caveman features and a receding hairline cannot escape that.

Then again it's a statistical fact that there are more male fatasses than female ones.
