There is so much discussion about the "unfairness" of abortions, and men counting on women using birth control and abortion and being surprised when they end up dads, cases like this, etc.

Thesis

In my opinion, men should all just forget that abortion exists and assume it's not a fallback plan.

Argument

It doesn't matter if a woman says she'll abort, it's easy enough to say that when you're not doped up to high heaven on pregnancy hormones and seeing everything differently. Guys are stupid enough to get her to agree that she'll abort at the beginning of the relationship, and then assume that holds true for months or years later, after she's in love with him and completely susceptible to the hormone avalanche.

Men need to be honest with themselves instead of blinded by thirst and terrible decisions. If a man cannot accept the small statistical failure rate of the birth control methods he is using, he needs to abstain from sex until he finds a woman quality enough that the failure rate is acceptable risk. If no such woman exists, he should abstain completely.

As Griddy's post demonstrated, men are not the beacons of rationality, FTO, and logic TRP likes to pretend they are when it comes to the realities of biology and life.

FACT: Birth control fails

FACT: You cannot count on a woman to abort your child

FACT: The only responsible option a man has is to take contraception into his own hands (condoms, vasectomy, etc) and only have sex with women who he can accept the slight risk of coparenting with; or be completely celibate. Alternatively, he needs to accept the inconvenience of fleeing the country or being a fugitive.
