Disagree slightly. For men, it’s about quantity above a quality threshold. Or at least it is for me.

I’m a relatively fit man. Hooking up with an obese woman or an older single mother isn’t too challenging. I’ve done both over the years. But enjoying myself with the former and breaking things off with the latter were unpleasant experiences. If I could take back those experiences, in total, I would. Those are notches I don’t care to remember.

I have to disagree, at least with the male portion. Yes it’s true that quantity has a quality onto itself, but I think a man that bags a dime piece will net more respect (from both men and women) than a man that preys on dozens of fuglies.

I think there is some truth to the notion that you can get a good idea on what calibre of person a man is simply by looking at the quality of women he sleeps with.

I don't disagree that there are still many people judging others and themselves on those terms, but I'd argue that on a personal level quantity or this type of quality aren't necessarily fulfilling or doesn't necessarily falls along expected gender lines.

Personally, I enjoy variety and value very little how much money a man makes or his social circle. I'm aware that my past might be too much for some people. I'm also aware that my partner might be very handsome and fit, but he isn't particularly successful in the professional arena. Regardless, I wouldn't feel satisfied if I held off sex or prioritized status over looks in a man.

As simple as men with quantity can also have access to quality.

You can decide the promiscuous way or a good woman for a LTR. You're in control of an important aspect of your life.

Men with no options have to wait for coincidences to happen and this is awful.

Says who? Some men feel that way, other men want quality. The men who want quantity are trashy and have no self-esteem. It's ironic because having multiple women literally means he failed as a man. If it was successful, he would have stayed with her. Some women like getting a lot of different hot guys. Some women praise their female friends for "slaying." "Boss babe, yass she gets all the guys, boys love you" etc. It depends on the person, not on gender. People are way too interested in quotes that sound like the reverse of each other (men like x, women like the opposite) because it sounds cool and it's almost satisfying to hear it in your mind, when in reality it's almost never true. Humans are a lot more compatible than that and a species that's fighting against each other is not going to be biologically effective.

We are all taught to objectify women and to estimate their worth relative to the value they have for a man. Men much more than women but everyone does it.

Women gaining independence has forced us to rethink our evaluation of women's abilities which translates into power so that's good.

I'm not sure which direction we're moving on the objectification issues. It's hard to see if it's stopped decreasing or not. It's spreading to men too, though I don't think it will reach harmful levels for them for a while.

This is nothing new. When you think lizard-brain, men basically want to go the shotgun method and impregnate as many women as possible. Meanwhile women want to find the most genetically perfect man to impregnate her. She also wants to find the man that has the provisioning to take care of her and her progeny (which isn't necessarily the same man).

However a women's success is usually defined by the quality of the partner that she can find, is he fit? Does he make good money? Is he well liked and does he have a good social circle? All these factors that determine a man's quality is how women's success is measured most of the time.

Nope. It's how he treats you. Also money. Women couldn't care less about the other stuff. If anything a guy who has a social circle is more likely to leave you.

Not true at all. I've been with a lot of women. Always good looking women (quality). I hit 70 by the time I got married at 22. She was 18 and good looking. I as faithful to her. And, we biked on the regular. But, once we divorced, I think I had one woman I'd call a 5. The rest were 8-10. And, I had a few. And, there were others who wanted to. But, I was busy with the others. I'm not good at spinning plates and, frankly, isn't something I like to do. I'll find a few, grab one, and spend time with her.

While there is some truth to the old idea that men want to spread their seed widely and indiscriminately, while women need to be more selective, things may not be that simple.

There is research to suggest that while we do have strong evolved instincts that support the above behavior, women in particular may also have some more contradictory and promiscuous instincts. And for promiscuity that might not be as selective as one would think.

I am a guy and this is only true to a degree. Yes, men value quantity independently of quality, and many man do fuck anything they can get. I disagree with that. quality is more important than quantity, and the quality of the women still determines the actual rank of the man no matter how much he himself doesnt care, because the better the women the more requirements she will have and the more he had to be, and thats how the perceived value and rank is calculated. being able to get many women who also got fucked by much lower guys is worthless and humiliating, because it effectively puts you on the same level as the lower men, because the guy does not see himself as above that because if he would he would be repulsed by these women. Whenever I see a guy dealing with women who are much lower quality, it screams no self respect and/or self esteem issues.

Yes its better to be able to get as many women as possible but that only applies to women who still have a certain quality even though they might not be on the level of the best women the guy can get.

I've found that men may enjoy the options quantity provides, but they totally get competitive and up their game for a high-quality woman, that their buddies will high-five them for/be jealous of. High-quality is looks and presentation, followed by status and personality. Status is also connected to presentation. Only they don't use the word status, cuz that's manly and emasculates them, they use "class".

They want a woman other men wanted, but couldn't get, so they can feel like the coolest man who won the prize.
