We had a gazillion discussions about misplaced expectations on what qualities are valued on the sexual marketplace, but hell, its ppd and we live only once, so lets have another one. I want to get out of the way, that im not a big supporter of the idea that disney movies teach young boys that hot chicks only get wet for loyalty, honesty and kindness, but I fell like there is an underexplored place where this kind of frustration is coming from that deserves to at least be worded.

My initial idea(that formed around high school) about the subject was that there are two types of traits that are responsible for short and long term attractiveness respectively. I thought that traits like financial stability, ambition, responsibility, low n (yes low n for men), ability to find compromise and loyalty are valued in marriage and muscle, clothes, wit, exciting lifestyle, carpe diem attitude and disrespect to rules are valued for short term fun. Which honestly, even by my current judgement, isnt that bad of an idea of how things work.
The thing that was terribly off was timing. I was unprepared to the fact that there was very little interest in settling down during college and therefore little to no demand for the first subset of traits. I will totally admit the failure to adjust in time on my part, because I have my own eyes and shit, but the desire to find one right person to spend my life with was still very strong then and, boy, does it suck to be the "we should totally get married in 5 years" guy. The ironic part is that Im finally starting to get dividends from all that rmv investments, but the same words from the same people I would kill to hear back then, dont resonate with me in the slightest now.

I dont know what percentage of guys who claim that their lack of romantic success is due to overinvestment in "husband" qualities are just low value and find excuses for themselves, I dont want to say that there is some conspiracy to brainwash men through media into beeing a better BB, Im sure that people who put those ideas in my head held my best interests at heart, because thats what worked for them. My point is that the shift in attitudes to dating and marriage created a mismatch of the expectations in the smp which resulted in great deal of frustration for the participants.

P.S. Im not a huge fan of "80% of men will go MGTOW" idea either, but I do notice a trend among my friends, that previously held fairly traditional views on family, to either become really disillusioned about it or downshift altogether. Have anyone else notice something similar? What do you think will be the ramifications of the rest catching up to the rules and values of the current smp?
