For a casual dalliance yeah whatever - as long as you infer that they’re probably not going to murder or violate you and there will be no foreseeable life ruining repercussions then that’s really all the logic one needs to go ahead and do the devils deed.

But even when it comes to relationships most people still rely primarily on tingles and emotional spikes and the way someone makes them feel above all else. Of course you need to be sexually aroused by a partner but the extent to which people overlook glaring red flags and the way in which their eyes glaze over when you discuss more logical / unromantic things on dates - things which should serve as important information to know about someone you’re potentially going to invest in…. It honestly seems childish.

Even if we’re programmed to be lustful emotionally driven creatures you would think that we would be intelligent enough to be able to stand back and assess a potential partner more objectively, especially if our judgment has backfired in the past, but no, most people will become love blinded and waltz naively into a relationship without doing their due diligence.

I’ve heard people say yeah well life is short and shit, you might as well try to spice it up with some romance without overthinking it. I understand but quite often this creates a lot of pain further down the road when these rash / illogical decisions come back to haunt you anyway

What do you think is the right amount of logic to apply when dating?
