Why is " Locker Room Talk" Demonized?

At the end of the day locker room talk is just like light gossiping about someone it's a way to vent, so why do people have a problem with it?

i dont knwo why tis is difficult to understand. men are very dangerous scary creatures who can kill you. in order to love them and live with them, women have to feel "safe" with them which involves a lot of self delusion on the womens parts and misrepresentatons on the mens part

when regular women hear men talk they subconsciously question living alone with, trusting and having babies with them.

male and female pairings require a deep suppression of both sexes natures and awareness of such

I think people have a problem with "locker room talk" when it broaches the public sphere. No one really wants to hear it in 'polite society', keep that shit where its intended; the locker room.

Addition idea to consider: most men are unattractive, no one wants to hear about unattractive men's sexual exploits/non PC views.

I don't care, I'm surrounded by men most of the time and when they talk about women and whatnot it literally doesn't bother me at all. I'm sure they talk less politely when I'm around, I obviously cannot know for sure. That being said if they said some of that stuff in the wrong company or publicly, I'm certain there would be some backlash. It's meant to be private conversations.

The idea that their own boyfriend might just be doing it while he's not with her is never even considered.

I don't say stuff secretly that I wouldn't say in front of some people, I'm not a different person or pretending to be a different person, I don't lie, so I just assume it's the same for my friends, brothers, etc. They don't say misogynistic stuff and they don't objectify women, I have no reason to imagine they'd engage in locker room talk. Not all men are like that anyway.

There's classier ways to be sexual and then there's locker room talk, the latter of which is easily thrown around by boys who've just hit puberty who don't know any better. Want to use the latter as a role model? Be everyones' guest. Just don't whine about the consequences later.

Depends on the conversation, really.

Most locker rooms I've been in are either pretty quiet, or the banter there very rarely touches upon women or sexuality. Most of the guys I've shared a team with seemed more interested in talking about the workouts or sparring sessions we just had, or about their lives in general if we knew each other well enough.

There were a couple instances where someone made pretty crude remarks about the women at our gym, but they felt pretty awkward when nobody laughed or echoed them, and I don't recall someone bringing up their sex life or attractions in there out of the blue.

I've been in some pretty diverse teams too so I don't think it's attributable to a specific age range or economic status.

No one is upset with "light gossip", its when men say stuff that normalizes rape and violence is when people have a problem with it. Saying "I hear Sandra hit reply all on an email to the whole firm asking to be taken off the distro, lolz" is fine. Saying "Did you see Sandra's dress today? If I wouldn't get hell from HR I would've hit that a long time ago." is a problem, cause it suggests her consent isn't important and that "HR" is the only thing stopping him from taking what he wants.

Because often 'Locker Room Talk' is actually crazy predatory rape apologist misogyny. People have a problem with this. As for actual harmless locker room talk, just keep it to yourself.
