Your point about 50 shades of grey is very true. I call it "Twilight Syndrome," mainly because that's the first book I had knowledge of it happening when I first realized it.

Twilight Syndrome is this: A girl who is unhappy and finds herself unattractive finds a man who is absolutely smitten by her and is perfect in every way. You see this also in "The Fault in Our Stars" and any Nicholas Sparks novel.

It's basically the reason any romance bullshit novel is popular. It's been going on for ages, back even to "The Awakening" by Kate Chopin (fucking horrible book. Most eye opening conversation I had about this data was with my strongly anti-feminist ex gf.

But the solipsism was too strong, she could only focus on the bad feels it gave her about her own life and couldn't take into account the grand scheme of things that would require her to change herself.

TL;DR: Showed my ex this data and she hamstered it away as misogynistic and unreliable. Cue token beta/creep shaming. But really she just felt bad and didn't want to face the truth that she is at her sexual peak .

It seems to show them roughly going for guys their same age, whereas I would have expected more of them looking for older guys - especially the younger women.
