While we normally don't allow posts like this during the weekdays, this post is being allowed as an exception since it is not a clear-cut profile and has elements of other phenomenon we showcase here. This woman fits several criteria at the same time: she is a leftover woman who cannot find a man to commit to her, she is a "strong, independent woman" who just wants to indulge her own selfish desire because she is afraid of missing the genetic lineage train as it approaches the geriatric pregnancy station, she is in her epiphany phase with regard to having a kid and she is a WAATGM-In the Making who would rather lie to her potential partners to silently rope them into something they would not probably sign up for.

This post is being allowed because we want everyone to observe the following things showcased in the post:

This woman and a lot of these kind of women are deathly afraid of ending up alone but have no qualms wasting their prime in dead-end relationships that they chose. This is because most women's dating strategy is to set up shop and to wait for the right guy to walk in. Notice that her idea of "being happy alone" is to take herself out on a date and not doing volunteer work to benefit others (and derive pleasure from it) or improving herself so that can do better. The answer to her happiness is self-indulgence, which is the sole reason she is deciding to be a mom despite the fact she is going to inconvenience her kid and her potential partner for her selfish desires.
How the hamster rationalizes and restructures counter-arguments to fit its agenda. Her friends point out to her that she will be selfish to raise the kid alone and advise her to find love and a loving partner to have a child with. Her decision is that she still wants love, a loving partner and a kid on her schedule even if it means bum-rushing the potential partner into adopting her timetable or by outright lying to them and hoping for an oopsie.

There are good reasons why men do not want to commit to most older women and this woman is a good showcase of one of the reasons why.

You know what? I suggest she goes through with it. What a lot of these mid-30s women don't know is that - alongside better fertility - there is another reason to start having kids in your 20s: energy. So many women I know who had their first kid in her 30s all say tthat they wish they had started earlier because they're always too tired. Now these women all have rrlatively stable relationships with a guy to help them out.

But imagine she wants to go through this alone. I can already see her starting to resent the child because she never gets a day off and can't go out with her friends anymore. It's like with weddings: they want to have it, but they don't want to deal with it after they get it.

I sort of like what she did in that she "dated herself" and paid for her own wine and walks on the beach. But that's only a half measure.

She should take out friends and new acquaintances on "dates" and see what it's like from the man's point of view. Pick up the dinner tab for her friends and when they don't reciprocate, see how that feels.

When I was single, I ddi a lot to improve myself particularly in the soft skills areas. I strategically considered what I would compromise on AND would also raise standards in other ways. I learned how to hunt. I widened my "funnel". I took feedback.

I think what this woman illustrates is the problem with women who try to do this, even half-arsed like she does, is that they run out of time. By the time they just figure out how to land beta bucks, they're too old to get that and have to lower their standards even further. Men's choices increase the older, and wiser, we get while such women may chase their compromises down into Alice's rabbit hole.

I have had heated arguments with many close friends over the years in regard to single parenting, for men or women. It seems when you make a blanket statement these days, people have to point out the one in a trillion case it wouldn't apply. But in the VAST, VAST, VAST majority of cases a child is best raised by two parents. Even wealthy people that can afford nannies to help with the day to day cannot be everything that child would benefit most from.

People are so focused sometimes on whether they can do something instead of whether they should do something. She is thinking 100% of herself. She would love the child, but she would not be what is best for the child. So unless she finds a partner, she should love that child enough to let it go.

A senior manager where I work (in the UK) has done this very thing! She's in her early 30's, single, juggling a high power career with the desire for parenthood, but was trapped by hypergamy and paid the price. She had an epiphany moment and realised that she didn't have time to find a partner, settle down and start a family. Panic set in, so she went ahead with expensive insemination before her biological clock ran out. First attempts at implantation failed, but she did manage to conceive and go full term during Covid lockdown and is now a single mum.

Hypergamy is where women typically 'marry up'. However, in her case, her high income role automatically prices her out of the market, except for perhaps a handful of potential men, all of whom are most likely already taken, or, are hot and wealthy enough to pick and choose, playing the field with no intention of commitment.

This medical process is very expensive, so I don't think we will be seeing too many incidents like this, as the price means the procedure is beyond the reach of the vast majority of single women.
