For the most part, I agree. I like how you highlighted not being completely invisible to women either. Too many guys think that being a completely silent hermit will get women fawning over them.
Show her some attention, but not being too eager or available.
Of course, there are some women who are privy to this game and will completely ignore your ass if you think she's gonna pursue you. Many women like feeling desired by a man she likes. If you're too cold or distant, she'll move on.
[–]universelord24 17 points18 points19 points 4 years ago (5 children) | Copy Link
Where do you draw the line btwn show some attention and show distant with girl?.
[–][deleted] 24 points25 points26 points 4 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link
One big example is phone behavior. Too many guys think that texting a girl all day and night when you barely know her is an attractive quality. If anything, only use the phone to set up dates, especially in the beginning stages of dating. Do not use the phone (calling or texting) for idle chit-chat. That gives the impression you have nothing else going on but to talk to her from sunrise until sunset. It can come across as too available and/or needy.
Check in every few days if possible. You don't have to be in contact every day but if it's too sporadic, you're not really interested and if she has any sense, she'll curb you.

[–]YoungCapoon 1 point2 points3 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
you just do it. ain much else to really say. You can give her all the attention in one day and give her love but learn to separate and keep distance between different days.
[–]gucciwillis 0 points1 point2 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
My advice is just keep it friendly. Work on yourself so that you’re attractive and just talk to her like you would anyone else. I’m naturally flirty so maybe this is easier for me, but i can talk to a girl for a long time without seeming needy because i can take it or leave it
[–]sunkized 0 points1 point2 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Pretend that you don't want her basically. Too much work with little pay off
[–][deleted] -1 points0 points1 point 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
I can’t find the middle ground for this. Any advice?
[–]master_power 24 points25 points26 points 4 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link
You used the key word in your post. "Needy". The key isn't to be disinterested. I tried that shit when I was younger. It doesn't work. Show interest, but in a non-needy way.
[–]MK2718 8 points9 points10 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Yep that's the key. Show your honest intentions and interest while simultaneously communicating that you do not need a specific outcome.
[–]Electric_kundalini 0 points1 point2 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
I did that too lol oh well at least we learn
[–]I_am_Jaguar 49 points50 points51 points 4 years ago (6 children) | Copy Link
As Coach Corey Wayne said The quickest way to gain someone’s attention? Remove yours.
[–]ProFriendZoner 16 points17 points18 points 4 years ago (4 children) | Copy Link
Meh. If the person has no interest in you in the first place they won't notice/care that you are not around.
[–]I_am_Jaguar 1 point2 points3 points 4 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link
That’s the whole point of doing this to know who is interested or not. The person who is really interested they’ll make sure you know it.
[–]ProFriendZoner 0 points1 point2 points 4 years ago* (2 children) | Copy Link
Doesn't work. You were orbiting her and then go away. If she wants to keep you as an orbiter she'll string you along to keep you orbiting and making you look foolish.
[–]I_am_Jaguar 1 point2 points3 points 4 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link
Wise Man will always know if he is just being kept for orbiting.
[–]ProFriendZoner 0 points1 point2 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
When it comes to female attention, most men are not wise.
[–]Dianabayyebii 13 points14 points15 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
This only works if she is already interested in you. Not sure how effective this would be at a club or what not.
[–]theosamabahama 21 points22 points23 points 4 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link
Being disinterested, lay back or distant, make you look like a guy who already has a lot of women. You have options, so you are not desperate. That signals to the girl that you have what women look for in a guy, since other women are into you.
[–]MK2718 6 points7 points8 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Correct. By being non-needy you communicate that you are living in abundance which communicates pre-selection and social proof.

As a woman, there is some truth to it. Just like men, I don’t want someone to throw themselves at me, but there has to be a little interest or I will move on and never look back.
[–]Baal-Hadad 44 points45 points46 points 4 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link
The fact that you think men don't want women throwing themselves at the them shows that you're a bit out of touch. I don't know a single man who does not find it sweet when a woman is really into them. Obviously there is a line between trying hard and full on creepiness but as long as a woman doesn't cross it, she won't be rejected because of that behaviour.
It is solely in the realm of the extremely complicated female mind that someone trying hard to court them would be a turn off.
[–]Storm-Of-Aeons -4 points-3 points-2 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
I don’t know I’m a dude and I don’t like it when girls are throwing themselves at me. It kind of annoys me, I want things to be somewhat of a challenge.

[–]GrandRub 29 points30 points31 points 4 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

its great when good things also are easy. i wouldnt mind winning the lottery or finding money on the ground either.

As a guy almost 30 I think if a woman were too gung ho about being with me she’s just using me to satisfy some deep inner need for affection. I think mature people gently let the other people in, being head over heels is for teenagers. Just my experience.
[–]CamelMurderer 5 points6 points7 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Not necessarily, as from my experience lots of the time when this happens, it comes off as needy/desperate behavior which gives really unattractive vibes and is a huge turn off.

[–][deleted] 7 points8 points9 points 4 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link
The clowns in the comments who claim they "love it when women throw themselves at them" have obviously never had a woman throw herself at him.
I knew a woman at my old warehouse job who was pretty with a great body and was doing just that, throwing herself at men....showing her lower back tattoo and asking "do these pants make my ass look big?" Some of the men there told me that was a huge TURN OFF.
No one likes that shit. Sure, one guy at that job was fucking her but he would also be talking shit about her and showing her nudes to the other guys at work.
[–]MyName_isLame 5 points6 points7 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Yea..when someone throws themself at you it reveals desperation, attention seeking, on their part. It doesn’t feel flattering to be on the receiving end of that at all. It shows this isn’t their first rodeo, if it wasn’t you it would be someone else, and doesn’t make me feel special at all.
[–]bluedrygrass 2 points3 points4 points 4 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link
You didn't understand anything if you think your example is ever remotely relevant
[–][deleted] 0 points1 point2 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
There is a difference between “showing interest” & “throwing yourself at”. The former is fine, the latter is desperate & thirsty…. & no one likes that regardless of gender.
I’m pretty sure the guys mean they don’t mind if a woman shows interest, which a few already mentioned, but no one, even men, likes it when someone is “throwing herself at him”. Sure, he may fuck her because she’s easy but he won’t respect or take her seriously otherwise.

I'm fairly new to dating after a 25 year relationship, but I recently had a woman I was met "throw herself at me" and I didn't like it. It was cool at first. I thought it was great that she was so into me. She initiated sex on the first date and literally every single date after that. But soon it became obvious that she was people pleasing and just trying to make me happy no matter what. The thing was, she was attractive. In great shape. Had a great job, a nice house which she owned outright and a Range Rover. She wasn't after what little money I have. She was just a shitty dater and it quickly became obvious why she was still single four years after divorcing, even though she made it abundantly clear that she wanted a solid relationship. I dated her for about two months, but I was soon overwhelmed and broke things off with her.
[–]MyName_isLame 3 points4 points5 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Yea she was a clinger and it’s suffocating. I think human beings innately like a little hunt and I’ve noticed at least in my life, a lot of them like a slight mystery in the beginning. I never show my hand too soon
[–][deleted] 2 points3 points4 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Yep. I've had men tell me that if a woman is too easy/available, that can be a turn-off. He may smash because it's being offered but he won't take her seriously otherwise.

[–]MyName_isLame 0 points1 point2 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
It depends. Does she already know you are interested? If yes the balls in her court. If she doesn’t know you are interested then let her know in a subtle way and wait to see if she feels anything back.
[–]AwakenTheSavage 5 points6 points7 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
As Corey Wayne has said, it’s a scientifically documented and verified fact that women are more attracted to men whose feelings towards them are unclear. “He Loves Me, He Loves Me Not...” Women Are More Attracted To Men Whose Feelings Are Unclear
[–]SparklingWiggles12 5 points6 points7 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Abundance mindset. Women are like busses. One leaves and 5 minutes later another one appears. You don't like X Y or Z about me? Cool someone else will. I apply this attitude to my entire existence and all relationships. I will always tell you the absolute truth I hope you can take it. Cause it's nothing but respect.
[–]Affectionate-Shine12 45 points46 points47 points 4 years ago (4 children) | Copy Link

[–]EasyThereStretch 23 points24 points25 points 4 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link
Did you even read the post? Come on man…
Thus the guy who is not actively trying to win a woman over can often become the most intriguing to her. (Important Note: This is not a guy who is standing in the corner doing nothing…
also
…a man who comes off a bit disinterested, unsure or skeptical of a woman…
Clearly nothing works 100% of the time on 100% of the people. But OP’s point is that high value men have an abundance of choices, and when you have an abundance of choices you act like you have an abundance of choices.
Ipso facto acting like you have a lot of choices implies that you’re a high value man. And high value = good.
[–]EasyThereStretch 3 points4 points5 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
I think you’re taking OP’s suggesting of “acting a little disinterested” and stretching it to mean much more than he intended. That’s probably more on OP than you, to be fair.
It’s not “playing hard to get”; it’s called abundance mentality. And it’s such a well established concept that it’s not something to argue over.
[–][deleted] 9 points10 points11 points 4 years ago* (0 children) | Copy Link
Even unattractive women with no options have this tendency. They aren’t reading into anything with your eagerness and deciding it’s a red flag either. It happens because if someone’s eager to be with you and making themselves available, it feels like you’ve already got them and it makes you think you can probably do better.
No need to explain why that creates an infinitely repeating cycle of bad relationships. You just have to hold out for someone who’s matured past that, or thinks you’re a rare enough catch to be willing to put up with it. The latter is not preferable but it’s way more common.
You can always learn to temper yourself so you don’t give off that vibe. Which is basically the same thing as playing hard to get but with more steps.
Men have the same tendency by the way. I noticed it in myself as a teenager and started working on it.
[–]Slickslimshooter 3 points4 points5 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
My ex girlfriend told me this a few days after we started dating, that she fell for me cuz I didn’t give her the time of day and seemed uninterested. Tbh I was just busy with work and myself so I didn’t have time for her but ever since i heard that, I apply that tactic 100%. Talk and meet up once in a while and make the meet ups seem like you’d be going to that place regardless of her presence i.e”I’m going to this art gallery tomorrow, would you like to tag along”, compliment her once when you meet and be a gentleman, (no attempts to break a touch barrier)
[–]twinkiefatsack 2 points3 points4 points 4 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link
what I don't get is at a certain point, like I don't want to fucking play games. I am not a fuckin child. I am 36. I don't want to have to try to play these stupid ass games just to try to find a girl. Its so dumb. What is the point of emotion and connection if you have to jump through all these bs games just to finally actually be able to show a person who you are. I man I get that's why I am still single, but like lol I just laugh at the stupidity of this crap. I would like to believe that everyone has the same end game....you know, find someone, live happily ever after ect....why jump through hoops and pretend your not interested and don't talk to her for a few days, make her chase you ect, its just so dumb.
[–]MK2718 2 points3 points4 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
The point is not to play games. The point is to check yourself from coming off way to strong and interested right at the start and scaring the person away or clearly demonstrating that you have not other options.
[–]RambaRedd 1 point2 points3 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Women are fickle creatures bruh, it's in their nature. And it doesn't help that even the ugly ones get hit on like 10 times a day. They have plenty of options and their emotions are up and down all day so it just makes for a big mess of games and random behavior. That's just what it is
[–]SpiderBen14 2 points3 points4 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
My experience has been that women really like it if you just act normal. Don’t act disinterested, but don’t act overly interested either. Just be natural. The idea is that you want to subtly let them know that there is interest but that you have options and you’re fine without a partner at all. It works.
[–]passingnotes26 6 points7 points8 points 4 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link
As a woman I agree that excessive attention feels overwhelming… and it’s not that I take it as a guy being insecure, but rather un-self-aware, a love bomber, or a disingenuous extrovert. If a guy were to talk to me in a thoughtful way, like ask me questions about myself, laugh with me, hold eye contact… 🥵 just be confident but in a quiet easygoing way.
[–]dreamredditaccount 0 points1 point2 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
I agree with this because if you slowly show genuine interest, it feels like they actually care about you. But to me the person has to also be attractive to you.
Like this one guy has tried asking me a lot of questions out of the blue. We chatted a bit online but i wasn't too attracted to him, more so mentally than physically.
He was actually okay looking but i knew something was off about him. He mentioned his ex in the beginning of us talking like he just had broke up with her. And also the next week asked me out late at night for dinner. To me it just felt like he wanted a rebound, have sex, and thats it. Our conversations weren't as meaningful in the first place. He tried it though. At least he gave obvious clues to it.
[–]Fufi44 6 points7 points8 points 4 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link
Just piping in to say that this is 100% effective on men as well. Anytime in my life that I’ve done the ‘just wanting to fuck’ thing it drive men fucking insane. I’ve never seen so many men demanding 100% of me as when I DONT want that from them.
Don’t any of you let the sexist idiots of Reddit tell you that this is something that’s exclusive to women. Men are every bit as susceptible to being played as women are. In fact, I highly suggest it. There’s nothing more satisfying than giving an asshole a taste of his own medicine.
I’m a man and having this happening to me right now. You are absolutely spot on

I think a better way of stating this is to not give her special attention. She is not the reward at the end of a chase, not the object of a pursuit. She's a person. Treat her as if she were someone else you're getting to know, at least when you start talking. Once a conversation gets going you can be more flirty. Humans want what they can't have. If you serve yourself up with no challenge it's no fun for them.
[–]lovemidnightrose 3 points4 points5 points 4 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link
I'm fairly different from other women so I'm going to give you my take on this. Women like me don't want a pushy man but we don't care of disinterest either. We're looking for a long term man, not some one night stand like most of the boys these days seem to enjoy. The ultimate goal is a life partner and mate who is willing to share their life. If you're aloof and don't want to talk then fine, don't expect anything more than a half glance. But if you open up little by little as trust grows, like a carefully tended garden, the relationship will also grow. There's plenty of women out there looking for a one and done just like there are plenty of men like that but if you are looking for someone to build a life together, don't be pushy and be willing to take your time. Be kind. Who knows what kind of trauma they might have dealt with in the past.

Think I finally found another female companion who thinks like me when it comes to choosing the "Right" one. This is exactly how it is for me.
[–]Carpsonian22 2 points3 points4 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
I disagree. I am not into men unless they are clearly into me. Why would I want to waste my time with someone who thinks I’m “just okay” when someone else might be totally captivated by me? Like if a guy is ignoring me then I’ve completely stopped paying attention to him. If I see a guy who I am attracted to and he looks at me like he’s totally into me, I’m definitely giving him a shot over the guy who ignores me. I’m also 30 and don’t see a point in playing mind games. Maybe this disinterested thing works for younger girls?
[–]happybunday 1 point2 points3 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
As a woman, this might be true in some extent. But speaking of my recent experience, the cooldown comes really fast, especially when I have options of better men that are more interested.
[–]bluedrygrass 0 points1 point2 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
No, that's not the real reason. Even women who receive very little attention (due to age or general unactracctiveness) are much more attracted by dismissive/assholeish/uninterested men.

Subjective, i dont have time to play games as a woman. Wouldnt waste my time with a man who doesnt know what he wants.
You acting disinterested in a woman who doesn’t like you to begin with won’t make a difference at all, the ones that like you won’t mind you showing interest
[–]cormacru999 0 points1 point2 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Did you read a seduction expert book & then decide to pass that along? There is no one tried & true method to succeeding with women that suits every man & every woman. Being overeager is not bad because women are all calculating all this men's seduction analysis, they don't like it because its gross. And this sort of advice is all pretty dishonest & disingenuous & if you try to follow this whole pop psychology plotline to score, that relationship won't have a lasting foundation.
I have never needed to do any of this. Some women I went slow with because that's what was right with that woman. Another woman I chose a more direct, just say what I'm looking for route, & that was right for her. Juts be a decent man, be aware of what women's experiences are like, stay honest, be upfront, & you'll be fine.

Not to mention there are a lot of people who have very rosy ideas about themselves which never manifest in real life. I used to know one girl who would claim repeatedly she doesn't care about how much money a guy has. The same chick would go after rich guys like there's no tomorrow. I know another girl who are doing her PhD on some SJW BS subject. But her dating history is only rich white guys.
Pay attention to what people do, NOT what they say. This will serve you well in ife.
[–]willgo-waggins 3 points4 points5 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
This is completely accurate.
Women also live under a double moral standard all the time. Whether we want to say times have changed or whatever, it’s still a fact.
So they will actually create an image of what they think they should be or want to be in their mind and try to present that as who they really are.
A great example last night this one I have been dancing around with fir a few months. We went out with another (female) friend. We had already been drinking at an earlier party and she was going pretty good (she is socially anxious and needs this to relax). We get to the bar and she keeps drinking pretty steadily for almost two hours. (Side note here she considered herself a “good girl” who occasionally gets “too tipsy and acts slutty”.)
I knew from earlier in the night that she had wanted to get to a place where she could justify us sleeping together (we had been taking a break from casual to explore a more real relationship). But now she was beyond just fun drunk. She was getting crazy, dancing up in the stage, hitting on every guy in sight and finally the capper got shitty with me (our friend and I had been basically babysitting and our friend had been backing off the guys not me) and told our friend to tell me to back off because I was being clingy (that would be the parts where I caught her to keep her from falling on her ass repeatedly).
It hurt of course but more pissed me off. But I was like so be it there are lots of other options (actually had another one last night that I blew off for her - part of why I was irritated).
Get a text this morning about how she was terrible and hurtful and wrong and so sorry. And I KNOW that a speech is coming next time we are together about how that’s not her she’s a good girl yada yada.
But the fact is it IS her. It’s a part of who she is. It’s a part that I accepted when we started out as FWB’s without commitment and if I hadn’t, I would not be wasting my time.
Anyway this is the thing. They will always put the best look out there as who they are. But you have to really observe and find the reality through how they behave in real life.

Is this shit ever written by or agreed with by a woman? To my thinking a disinterested guy just doesn’t give a woman as many reasons for caution like a desperate or even interested guy might. Moreover this is not universal. Many women really want to be desired and pursued. They then act disinterested to keep the chase going and get the attention. But any girl going after uninterested guys is a confused girl and probably not gonna be happy with what she eventually gets.

Just be rich and handle your business and you'll get the 10s ... of course, who would want to date a guy who makes 40k a year unless it's a whale
This is a double edged sword.
Ud be better off showing interest and just being genuine.
Just show her you have options and a life other than her and shell figure out some way to get jealous, they always do

That last paragraph. Great mind games. Love it

This is my game right here, I remember reading this story about a girl who went out with some friends ended up hooking up with a guy, and the way he got with her she used the term "law of least effort" the guy who gets the girl tries the least, and generates more interest by demonstrating high value by giving off the abundance mentality vibe. When you just approach a woman without directly showing interest and just getting to know her as a person/connect you will do well. Watch out though cause this form of game breeds a lot of jealousy

This can make someone jealous. This guy in high school my senior year approached me and we became friends. He was really nice and for the most part I only saw him as just a friend.
But then later in the year he gained a lot of female friends and some male friends. But majority were female. I then realized he was handsome. I was kind of genuinely aloof at the time. Then i became somewhat jealous as I realized he had a lot more options if he wanted. Though for the most part I still felt like we were just friends. I kind of backed off though. In the end and it never went anywhere. But i liked the feeling of being special around him because be showed me a lot of attention despite having a lot of friends who were girls or so it seemed.

Always great to hear the female perspective on this sub
I personally don’t agree with this, I love it when a man I like is crazy about me. The thing is somethings men are absolutely unattractive (physically or mentally) and no matter your strategy you will never be her type. If I don’t like your voice, you can have whatever strategy you want I will never desire you sexually.

But I like to be this.

Attraction through disinterest only works if you’re hot enough to gain their attraction from the get go. You think any woman becomes attracted to a ugly guy because he didn’t show her any interest? She already doesn’t even know you exist lmao
This has worked for me on 2 separate occasions. When every other guy in the room is openly flirting, I'm just being a normal friend. After 3 months of not flirting and saying no to any advancements made by them, the girls just couldn't stand it. Basically forced me to have sex with them.

Nope. I just dropped a guy this week because of his aloof behavior. These petty little games on here don't work on mature women who are high value and looking for a long term relationship. She will just move on to someone else and lose interest.

30/F here...and this is just my two cents.
From what I've noticed, It all boils down to self worth and a confidence booster. If a woman sees a guy as hard to get for whatever reason, she'll end up trying harder because she sees it as a challenge for validation. Kind of like, "If I can hook this one, then I must be worth more than I thought." Or! "If I can hook this one, it'll validate how attractive/interesting/etc. I think I am."
There's tons of (widely enjoyed) romance novels/movies you can check out as proof. If a woman can get the interest of a "bad boy" type or a seemingly emotionally unavailable type...then her feelings of self worth and validation skyrocket.
OR. They have the whole sick puppy syndrome thing and they want to help "save" them or whatever. And THAT will add to their self worth/validation...based on who she can win over.
I've been there in my early twenties and y'all...it was rough. 😅 Not every woman plays that game but more often than not, that's what they're doing.
