I agree to an extent. I ask a girl out one time and the day of she told me “she was sick” and couldn’t make it. I thought ok, she’s not into me, no dramas and replied “ok, hope you’re feeling better. You can let me know if you want to reschedule another time” and left it at that. I was fully expecting to not hear from he again until she asked to meet up the next night.

Turns out she was under the weather and genuinely wanted to reschedule. Don’t write them off straight away but as u/scrappyross said: “you get one free cancellation”.

the first and the most important; you dont put her into the roll to be the one to entertain you by meeting her; because if you dont meet or she rejects you, then it ruins the spectative of "meeting her IS the fun"; this changes from that to following you "TO THE FUN" and she being there just everything more enjoyable.
it lessens the rejection or the irresponsability displayed by her for disrespecting your time and even if the excuse is valid; you still got something to do and have fun anyway.
if you post this into your social media; it will tell her "only if she follows you" that she wasnt the main date and that she could be there having fun; either if she feels bad or not; you still dump her because she most likely doesnt like you and if she only chase after you because of that; she doesnt deserve you entertaining her.

2) Sometimes valid excuses come up, I've had to cancel dates because of sickness or injury, so if they make an effort to reschedule I'll take their word for it and assume they're interested

These rules always sound great in understanding boundaries to what expect when dating as a guy without much experience. But people are far too complicated to take this rule seriously.

Just take the situation individually and assess whether the girl is flaking disrespectfully, or has other priorities to attend to. Life is complicated and I have cancelled dates short notice plenty of times while still being 100% interested in the girl.

If she’s apologetic and enthusiastic for the reschedule, don’t sweat it. As simple as that.

If he ditches you last minute, ask yourself: "would he do this to Angelina Jolie?"

It’s becoming really difficult to believe anything else. I’ve been struggling with striking out with a couple different girls in a row recently that I had thought I was getting on with, and I kept making excuses in my head for why I wasn’t getting the attention I was expecting. Maybe she’s busy, maybe she’s not ready for a relationship, maybe she’s intimidated by my ex wife, etc. I kept pushing away the thought that she’s probably just not into me, seeing how rejection from women specifically is something I struggle with heavily. But that was the case, sometimes a girl just isn’t into you the way you the way you thought.

I struggle with this because of self-image and self-esteem issues, and basically hating myself if a girl I showed interest in rejects me. But I need to remember that I have had girls interested in me. I’ve seen girls on multiple occasions do exactly what you mentioned, blow off their friends and family to see me, find any reason to text me, come see me at very inconvenient times. And every time, it was unmistakable. No mixed signals, no being hot and cold. They just liked me and I knew it.

Every man should keep this in mind. Girls will show interest early and often if they really like you. If at any point it feels hard to get attention from her, cut things off early. Even if they don’t at first but they may later on, it’s not something you have time to wait around for. Life is too short to waste time on girls who may or may not potentially be interested in you one day. It’s so fucking important to only spend time and effort on people who spend time and effort on you.

I have a variation on this but in the same category sort of. Girl cancels a date, I say something like “oh that’s too bad I had a surprise lined up for us. Maybe next time”. I also do this AFTER THE DATE would have happened.

They always ask what the surprise is. I always say “guess you have to wait to find out”.

I’d say 80% of the time they say something like you should have said that before I probably could have gotten out of whatever magical plans came up.

Now they’re anxious to find out what the surprise is. If they were in the 80% that said the surprise would have changed their plans I start to pull away slowly.

If they were in the 20% where something legit came up, I propose a second date and they can find out the surprise then…….then I make up some shit as a surprise like showing them my favorite spot in the park to see the sunset or something sentimental like that.

The intention is the same as the brad Pitt rule. If they don’t want to go on the date then my motto is fuck them I’ll find somebody who does

i have always thought that the general rule is that if the first time you ask a girl out and she reject due to whatever reason and did not suggest an alternative time. then wait for a while (can be weeks or months) and ask again. if she rejects again without any alternative then it can be time to move on.

its kind of silly to just give up in the first try because of a different circumstances. and over time things can change.
