I get to celebrate 5 years with my SO today by taking the cat to the vet. Very exciting. Got some fun ideas for tonight though, since our relationship began on the first day of fall (e.g. there are some fun beginning of fall events today), which is my favorite season. Now I just gotta figure out what to wear.

I also have two more job interviews next week. Feeling pretty hyped.

How to enjoy life alone?

I can't be happy without love.

i try to imagine my future and realistically it's going to be like a very long weekend. Being alone all the time. i'm not sure i want to live like that. travelling alone isn't a very good distraction. i've traveled a lot. i'd just be alone in a different place.

sometimes this realization hits me and i get the urge to end my life. but then i go back to work on monday, i hang out with my co workers and it goes away...

i really wish I could experience dating and relationships at least once in my life. just sitting at a table sharing a meal. or watching a movie. knowing someone cares about me and enjoys spending time with me would be amazing. I want to know what it's like to be loved.

any older people on here, live life like this and managed to make it ... less painful?

Has anyone heard about Special Books by Special Kids?

So this good looking Chad (plays guitar, soccer coach) got his masters in special education. After doing a teaching stint he had an idea to travel around and interview 'special' ~~kids~~people about their lives, the difficulties they face, their perspectives, etc.

OMG he's so fucking affable, charming, and respectful of the people he interviews.

I normally don't care for blue eyed all american types, but his honest to god altruism and kindness elevates him from 'good looking Chad' to 10/10 god status.

Special education is a female dominated environment, couple that with his good looks, earnest endeavor and social media presence and he's probably swimming in puss.

Got a job interview in 3 hours. Hyped as fuck. I love the company it's with (a startup-sized marketing and data analytics firm), and the job is a good fit for my skillset. The salary range is also a 40% raise over my last job as well, if I do get the role.

I've said this before, but when you get to a certain age, you realise that you're going to die.

Luckily for me, this happened at a relatively young age. Unluckily for my SO, it has happened at a really young age, when her mother died.

The next thing that happens is you notice that lots of people around your age are dying. It's not expected, but it's not the complete statistical anomaly that it would be for a really young person to die.

The reason that I just mentioned this now is that I just saw this story about a former football / soccer player dying at 43. Not in itself a big deal, but at a certain point in life, you start being confronted with this spectre on a regular basis.

I haven't got properly old yet, but by now it's not that far away. I can start to imagine what it's going to be like, rather than it seeming a surreal and unimaginable experience.

And you reach a point where your body is breaking down, it's normal for people of your age to die, you encounter death all of the time, you're actually now being forced to do things just to keep you alive, people you know are dying regularly, in fact everyone you have known in life might be dead.

Anyway, the point is...if you're young, you should honestly try really, really, really hard not to make yourself miserable. You're not going to get everything in life that you want. But this is the future for you, even if it seems unimaginable now. And no matter how much you look after yourself, your body will start to fail you, slowly but surely, until you're decrepit, and then you'll be completely dependent, and then you'll die. Or you'll die suddenly, and young, and you won't get half the lifetime that you think that you're going to currently.

I just read so many posts on here, and think "there really is no point in going through life with this bitter and resentful attitude, particularly as that bitter and resentful attitude is not going to help you in the slightest. All you are doing is ruining your young years, which are going to be the only years in which you're firing on all cylinders".

I'm sure no-one will take anything away from this whatsoever, but you should.

Looking at what people say in purple pill, trp, incel forums and such, I’m a little surprised. My parents moved me from Canada to east Asia for a decade and having grown up there (between China, Hong Kong and japan) I can definitely say “lookism” is a topic discussed in the mainstream. People rate you to your face. Aunties and uncles will suggest surgeries you should get (more common if ur a girl, but they’ll say it to a guy too). I’m currently studying in the states, and part of me almost wishes we discussed lookism as openly as people do in Asia. I don’t know, the facade of acceptance sometimes seems more harmful than blunt harshness. It’s so common to get surgery that people thought it was weird I didn’t accept my graduation gift of double eyelid surgery. My mom has had double eyelid surgery, my dad is planning on getting surgery to rectify his skin soon, and most of my girl friends and some of my guy friends have had something done.
