I agree it needs heavier modding, but you can't just outright request "better advice".

I think the sub would benefit from some mod-given user flairs similar to those found in /r/malefashionadvice ... I believe one tag is "Consistent Contributor"

That may help cut down on who is giving advice and what is being circle-jerk upvoted.

edit: for the time being just download RES, tag people who give good advice and ignore users who give shit advice. also, as someone else said further down, use the "Friend" feature for good contributors and mods, that way you can read just their submissions and comments, making it simpler to wade through the bullshit.

I disagree with you about text game, but you're not wrong because obviously there's a lot of women in the world and they all want different things. Plus, if a girl likes you, a few extra texts are obviously not going to ruin anything for you, and I agree it's not a bad idea to stay in touch. If you haven't seen her for a week, sure send a few texts just to say hi.

However, I think the "stick to making plans" text advice is good general advice, especially before you've slept with the girl. The problem with texting is that there's so much more downside than upside. Upside is that maybe you sneak in a little more flirting, but it's rarely going to be the difference maker between her sleeping with and not sleeping with you. But there are several downsides. One, you can appear too eager. Two, you look too available , like you don't have more important things to do, and kill some of your mystery. Plus, I do have better things to do with my time then send memes to some chick I barely know. Three, if you do flirt, next time you see each other in person, there's this weird vibe because you've been to a level on your phone when you haven't established the same intimacy level in person.

I also think beginners who are shy can get mentally caught up in the texting game to the detriment of their real game. If you promise yourself not to text her except to make plans, you can focus on those plans and then forget about her, not get too hung up, do other things. But if you're constantly thinking about what to text her and when she will text you back it can mess with your head. Better to just play it cool and keep the texting light, keep a little bit of your mystery, and make her see you to enjoy your attention.

First off, you're concern trolling.

Secondly, there is such a thing as bad text game. Texting multiple times in a row, or too often... definitely bad game.

So, as long as we can agree there's such a thing as bad text game, there must, therefore, be something considered good text game.

There is definitely a lot of good advice here. You do have to filter through some of the junk though. The one thing I've noticed is there are a lot of people who have brought with them the desire to modify the speech here to satisfy feminists, so that seddit doesn't "look" so bad. Those people miss the point of seddit, in my opinion.

Women are women, not machines. Sure. But game is probabilistic and appeals to psychology, it was never claimed to be deterministic. Stop making this stupid analogy.

I completely agree with you about the text game. From my experience, if I stay in contact up until the date it is much less likely to flake. But if I just do the say hi, make date, and then not talk until the date, there's a much higher chance of her flaking.

I seriously doubt that you want everyone to know who you are... Right? How else would you get the consistent contributor credentials without proving yourself in-field? This is not MFA where there is a set standard. There are too many variations for what works with different people to say ur game is more efficient than others. Granted I think most of this shit on here is crap, but you do find a diamond in the rough every once in a while. There are much better forums than this one. Once you've read all of the basic information in the sidebar and maybe a PUA book, you've got about all you need. /r/seduction is still good for a worthwhile post every now and again, but don't expect me to wade through all the BS. The only reason I saw this was because it was on my front page.

I think you'll find that most of the advice on here is all about not making yourself too available. While the end goal here is for you to lead a fulfilling life, where you're actually busy and rarely available to chit chat... some guys need to fake it in the meantime, even if they're just sitting at home refreshing /r/seduction. Even take it from your own point of view. Girl A responds to all of your texts with at least 2-3 of her own, literally 2 minutes after you send yours. Even though you haven't been responding for hours on end. You check your phone every so often for a text from Girl B, wondering what she's up to. You finally get a witty and slightly sexualized message back after a few hours.

I don't know about you, but based on that, I'm going to be more attracted to Girl B. Works both ways, in my opinion. Which is why there are small communities for female pickup, and actual good advice for them littered amongst the replies of "just show ur tits lol".

I do agree with you a little bit - I have seen some god-awful advice given out on here...luckily, if the post takes off and it receives enough attention, these posts either don't make it near the top of the comments, or are downvoted past the viewing threshold.

Would just like to point out that the mods are always looking to improve this sub and constantly working to that end. If there is something CONSTRUCTIVE you see that could be changed, they are more than willing to listen. They can be contacted through the sidebar.

/my two cents is, this is not so much a place where you go to have all of your questions answered, rather it is more of a community for like-minded individuals who are going through the same thing to talk to each other, discuss strategy and support each other. Everything else is secondary to that.

What is really going on with seduction/pua stuff is guys trying to do advanced shit. Unfortunately, it is like you say - guys with weak social skills and little experience, trying to run before they can even walk.

Most guys will have sex with few women, and have a few girlfriends before getting married. But the seduction stuff seems to be about MORE than that - approaching well in any situation, connecting and fucking fast, with HOT girls, and controlling the relationship terms.

Most guys can't do that stuff consistently.

The irony with seduction, and this is why guys are getting so turned off to it, is that no one is doing much of the advanced stuff, and if they are, they have chunked down so much to get to that point, that they have a hard time articulating it.

This is essentially what it boils down to. You can use certain techniques to be more approachable and likeable, but human interactions aren't cin >>, cout << concepts. Life does not function like a video game, and theory can only take you so far since life has too many random factors involved.

That being said, I do feel for guys that struggle with this kind of stuff. IMO it's better to seek support in bro groups like OneY and sports teams (hell, even ultimate frisbee) to help find the confidence and community to make you a better man.

I agree completely with your view on text game. If you meet a girl, get her number and without even making conversation ask her to meet up, big mistake. Texting is a good way to get your foot in the door and show your personality. You just met this girl and although you may have made a good first impression, try to connect a bit through texting before jumping in head first. Yes, I know it is beneficial to be bold but texting is more of an evaluation process for women.

Everyone is doing the same thing as you. They think they're onto something because it worked for them, so they post it here. Then, because it isn't at a level someone else is at, it gets shot down negatively instead of commented on positively and constructively.

Since everything here seems to be opinion based I'll throw in my three steps to a better seddit:

1) Stop all the complaining. Smart kids in class didn't get pissed off when I misunderstood the teacher or answered a question wrong. I liked those kids. Some of the people here will get pissed off at you for having a different view. This leads to 2.

2) Be constructive. If you think someone's advice is bad, comment on how YOU THINK it is bad, and how it could be done differently. People have different success with different methods.

3) Never assume your idea is best. Post advice here with the intention to have it built upon. For example, your txt game post is greatly improved upon in it's comments.

It's the community that needs to work better. Not the mods.

I found out about this subreddit a couple weeks ago through a friend, in the context that this was a combination of circlejerking "alpha- males" and blind leading the blind. Before you get all upset, hear me out. The alpha-male part is expected, and even -ok- I suppose, since after all it's a subreddit geared mainly towards males trying to pick up females. What is incredible to me, is the AWFUL advice I consistantly see from commenters who clearly lack experience. Admitted virgins giving sex tips because of things they read from other 'PUAs,' guys who have never been in relationships giving relationship advice, experienced PUAs giving advanced techniques to guys who clearly can't utilize it. Someone needs to be moderating this shit better. Maybe you should have to be fucking verified before you start giving awful ass advice to people. I don't know, maybe I have a utopian view of this early-human subreddit. My main gripe is "text game," and the horrid advice I've read on this subreddit. There's been quite a few posts in this SR about revamping the moderation and the content a bit. The one that I can agree with the most is the one that went on about how there's not enough in here about experience instead of theory, and too few "field reports". It's fine when theory is based on experience, like "try this because [brief field report containing a neat idea you came up with]"

This is all really in line with what you're talking about here.

Regarding texting, I've definitely found that as with everything, you can't have a single tone or style and expect it to work well with everyone. I think it's easy to just be myself, I try to just think of the first thing that comes to my head usually, often turning things into suggestive jokes if I feel like it. I don't like to exchange too much information in texts because I prefer to save those subjects for dates. Also texting is physically annoying when you've got an old phone with tiny buttons.

The problem isn't that there's not enough/good enough moderation or good/bad advice.

It's that advice is subjective and people are different. Something that works for one person might not work for someone else and may actually decrease their success in some cases.

Having said that, it's much harder to moderate advice in this context because as I mentioned it's not "bad advice vs. good advice" it's "advice that doesn't work for you vs. advice that does work for you" where the works for you variable is dependant upon the recipient of the advice and not the provider.

I'm not saying that it's impossible to moderate or that there's not any bad advice, because there is bad advice and it is moderated (which is why we don't see it most of the time) but if you're not happy with what you're getting here then look elsewhere because this post keeps showing up with different wording and it's not changing anything.
