If you aren't going to read the rules of the subreddit, don't be surprised if you get your posts removed.

I got the same kind of message, and I accepted it and moved on.

We support free speech, even as criticisms of men's rights, and it is the actions that get posts removed. It is not the message, but the actions. But other people don't feel that messages that are hostile, negative or otherwise make others unhappy should be allowed.

Since they have a sub for the discussion of the validity of feminism, it only detracts for the main sub to be bogged down answering the same questions over and over - we have the same problem here, the same stupid threads every day.

I don't go to an ice skating rink and ask the staff why they don't make it a rollerblading rink instead for example.

I don't completely agree with you. Every community is going to have some loop hole in free speech by labeling certain types of speech as obscene (e.g. pornography, hate speech). When it's a completely voluntary community like a subreddit, you pretty much just have to accept it.

If you criticized feminism, directly then you disobeyed the rules, period. You don't get to set the rules. If you want to post in r/Feminism, then you have to respect their rules. Since it's highly unlikely that you're going to be the guy who gets them to reconsider their rules, you shouldn't waste time trying to change them.

A better approach is to say the feminism is about "equality between the genders". That is a vague definition and does not spell out a methodology, despite the fact that the feminist movement has a very organized methodology. So use the definition to show how the viewpoints that many people hold, despite calling themselves feminists, contribute to the inequality between genders.

Essentially, you are going into a holy temple and telling the holy men they are not holy, as opposed to saying there is something wrong with holy men. Misandrists do this all the time by claiming that the people Men's Rights somehow aren't talking about men's rights.

Another thing to do is to bring up men's rights issues, but ignore the male suffering aspect of it and somehow construe it to be hurting women. Say the fact that women are less likely to be in prison than men is somehow harmful to women.

What's the big deal here? The subreddit is for feminists to discuss related issues, not for non-feminists to debate feminists.

I'd be pissed if anti-gun redditors subscribed to /r/guns and posted criticism everywhere.

It's a subreddit for feminists to talk about feminism with each other. It makes no sense for them to want people to shit all over them.

I go to /r/muslim to learn and listen, not to argue with them as an atheist about every little thing they talk about.

OP, the rules are simple and whether you think they are correct or not you should follow them or not post at all, and as the mod said you could have just posted in /r/askfeminists instead.

/r/feminism isn't about critizising feminism and really it is a feminist space so they shouldn't be subject to constant criticism because you failed to post in the correct subreddit, don't act as if it were some huge injustice to you because you failed to follow the rules.

You have a racial slur in your name yet you're someone supposedly fighting for the rights of others and challenging people's beliefs. The point of these gender-related subreddits is to create a safe space for those with common beliefs to discuss, debate, circle-jerk, whatever. I haven't been to any of the feminist subreddits in a loooong time. But I can bet that they still make all sorts of claims that can't be defended very well, especially not in a faceless debate where they can't yell or even attempt to shame or humiliate someone.

In fact /r/feminism is a lot more liberal than most feminist boards which would have banned you as soon as you said anything suspicious if not before then. The usual rule to post on a feminist board is you must be a feminist or in favour of feminism.

I guess this is the reason why I have the ability to upvote AND downvote in /r/science but not /r/feminism . If someone can't even post legitimate criticism, no downvotes are needed! Why not take it to the next level and make each upvote worth 10 points instead of 1?

When only one voice is important, it seems more like a soapbox or an infomercial. Ever see anyone disagree in an infomercial? Maybe feigned skepticism but nothing more.

I favor good ideas on /r/feminism because learning and informative discussions are important to me. I upvote the same way as other subs because there are posts that make good sense and have sound reasoning behind them. If I see a rant about someone trampling my rights because they didn't consider any other valid perspective, I'll remember not to post, unless it is to praise the topic, as I can't downvote for any reason.
