Hey, transwoman here. For those who don't know trans etiquette, I should to be referred to with female pronouns, even when talking about my past, and tranny is a pejorative. Since many people, at no fault to themselves, do not know trans etiquette, I'll be forgiving, so don't worry too hard about saying something wrong as long as you're trying to be respectful. Might correct you though ;)

Hopefully, I can keep this from being a wall of text.

I just wanted to share a perspective of mine. As someone who was raised like a male for most of my life, I understand that there are several areas in which men are unfairly discriminated. The one I want to talk about here is gender expression. I think the vast majority of us here want men to have more freedom to express themselves without suffering ridicule from our family or peers. I've often heard men who want to feel like they can cry or talk about their feelings. The most extreme example of this nonconforming expression is transgenderism. It ought to be a goal of men's rights that transpeople be accepted by society without having to hide their history and pretend to be cisgender. After all, the freedom of expression that we all want is the freedom to behave how we want regardless of our genitalia. At the very least, the rights of transpeople in this way can be a litmus test: if someone born with male genitalia can live as a woman and be accepted, then a man who cries will be no problem at all.

Note: I don't think we should get distracted by the relative ease for women to have a nonconforming expression. They were once heavily policed, and still are to an extent, and we really should be focused more positively on replicating that success.

EDIT1: I understand that some MRAs have a negative gut reaction to transpeople. Without derailing by considering whether that gut reaction is transphobic, I'd like people to look past that and see the point I'm making. Although it would hurt me terribly, if you have to think of me as a male instead of the woman I am to agree with me, go ahead and do so. My intention with this thread is to show that transpeople should be seen as allies in the fight for freedom of expression and therefore men's right's.

Basically, I've had bad experiences with MRAs, and you all have had bad experiences with transpeople, but that doesn't change the fact that we are allies in this fight, even if many of us haven't discovered that yet. I hope a few assholes don't close off a natural friendship.
