If a bill for mandatory male birth control - the kind that was already tested and yanked when it had FEWER side effects than the released female birth control - were in play, I would personally become a 24/7 lobbyist in its favor. I think men really need to just experience what we experience, just the tip, just once, just for a little bit.

A great book on BC is “This Is Your Brain on Birth Control.” It can literally change who you’re attracted to. Some women were on BC when they met their SOs and found they lost all attraction once they got off it.

High blood pressure (can lead to serious heart issues)

High blood pressure can lead to more than just "serious heart issues". It can lead to aneurysms bursting - be it in the aorta (instant death), the brain (stroke) or wherever. High BP can also lead to chronic kidney disease or vision loss (in extreme cases). High BP can lead to atherosclerosis (and even higher blood pressure and its complications)... It's a vicious cycle.

Also, never forget that hormonal birth control increases your risk of forming blood clots. That's why I cannot take hormonal birth control at all, doctor's orders. (I have another condition that increases the risk as my body produces way too many platelets.)

Don't forget that birth control raises the risk of blood clots, which can easily cause serious problems (stroke, deep vein thrombosis, lung embolism...). I already have a clotting disorder and am not allowed to use hormonal birth control because it would aggravate my already higher than average risk. A few of my female relatives have the same issues. You wouldn't believe how many men in our experience still second guess that and whine about having to be responsible for birth control for once.

Can confirm these side effects are absolutely horrible to live with. I’ve got to be on a particular type of birth control to manage a health condition, and it’s pretty damn concerning.

I got diagnosed with osteoporosis after getting the depo shot. I was actually more worried about my lvm parters pleasure than the serious risks involved with birth control. Our culture has defintely down played the risks. I will never risk my health for some nasty scrote again.

I had to go on birth control for medical reasons (completely unrelated to getting laid) sometimes, and I can tell you, it was HORRIBLE!!! My quality of life was shit during the time I was on medication, and it imepeded all other aspects of life. Oh and I felt like I almost died one time from a horrible highly-severe migraine that birth control triggered in me, after which I changed pills on advice from a doctor. This was in addition to regular mild-medium migraines bc pills often caused when I was on them.

And I was surprised at how normalized it was in the society and ppl thought of it as no big deal.

There was an article I read about BC for men in the form of cream.

Imagine how coddled men are to slap on a cream and solve their unwanted pregnancy problems. While women take BC pills that do everything listed above.

Since men are 100% responsible for unwanted pregnancy then they should be 100% responsible for the birth control.

Hormonal bc helped women as a class but also hurt them immensely. Ive never been able to tolerate hormonal bc, and tried the copper iud and got bad reactions from that too.

I had to take time out to go to the Dr, pick up the bc, deal with the side effects as life continued...I could have been doing much better things with my time

Never took birth control and never will.

I learned early on through my own friends - men and women alike - that the only reason to take birth control ended up being for one person's pleasure, and no, it is not the woman's. All I have seen of birth control is giving guys a free pass to have unprotected sex. It's like there is this weird disconnect between when they find out a woman is taking birth control, so therefore it means that they are somehow protected from contracting STIs/STDs.

How many boyfriends over the course of time were flabbergasted that I was anti-pill. One boyfriend sat me down and said, "It's time for us to discuss you going on birth control". I looked at him genuinely intrigued and asked why we needed to have such a "discussion". He proceeded to list all of the reasons that it was beneficial for him. (Of course, lol).

I asked him if he planned to support the cost. He answered no, and "doesn't your health insurance cover it?"

I laughed at him and called it a slap in the face that he wants me to fuck with my hormones and body chemistry, yet it is my responsibility to front the cost.

Never came up again.

Things that happened when I got a hormonal IUD in high school: - worst pain of my life getting it inserted - dramatic increase in depression - spotting for 5 months straight - gained 50lbs

And my boyfriend (who I got on it to sleep with safely): 1.Suggested he keep bc pills and give them to me everyday- like a child- because I wasn’t “responsible” 2. Stopped spending time (outside of sex) with me because I was “a downer” and he didn’t understand why I was so sad 3. Was convinced by his friend I would try to baby trap him (even though I had gotten the shot 3 months before we had our first time, and had an iud), apparently because I didn’t “make him” wear the condoms He Had In His Room

This is not a birth control issue it is a serious mental health issue.

Edit to say he has impregnated women with access and education to use birth control (side effects we can debate vs birthing and raising a child alone) yet by whatever means still sees fit to continue to create children he has no intention on raising

Birth control always messes with me. We’re talking non stop bleeding for MONTHS along with other side effects like bloating. The IUD had me passing blood clots in the shower. I’m off that crap and will never get back on it. Scrotes that talk about birth control like it’s a magic pill are just showing their male privilege…again. Men have no idea what it’s like to live in a woman’s body. It ain’t all sunshine and daisies scrotes.

It turns out chinese medicine has loads of easy things to consider trying for different issues like pms and pcos before considering BC but no, the doc give sout BC like candy while demonizing the use of herbs that have scientific research behind it proving real effect and no side effects compared to what BC does. And it's easier for men to take responsibility for pregnancy and stds yet here we are. Nothing makes sense.

It gave me horrible mood swings, depression, didn't alleviate my debilitating cramps, and worst of all it completely destroyed my libido. Imagine taking BC to have sex and then not ever being turned on. It drove me crazy.

Never ever again.

I really really wish the side effects of BC were more widely talked about. I went on the copper coil because a bf at the time was using condoms that kept breaking (and after my 3rd morning after pill in a few months I was done forking out for him - should have left then but I did eventually leave). That made my periods so heavy I was borderline anemic and needed to be on iron tablets after it was removed.

I later switched to the hormonal coil and could feel it tanking my mental heath after a month - doctors refused to remove it and gave me the pill to take on top of it to 'settle my hormones' and come back after 5 months. Luckily the GP took me seriously when I said I was suicidal and they removed it asap, then banned me from ever going on BC again.

Side effects really mess with your body and it is disgusting how women are expected to be on something because scrotes are lazy and irresponsible!
