Some very attractive man can post a profile with barely any bio and instantly get many matches. How did his profile promise “entertainment”?

I’m not saying women select men only for looks, but they do select men for other reasons than entertainment. This guy obviously thought that his fitness routine would attract women, when it in and of itself does not, and he therefore needs to figure out something that will attract them.

Yeah, there was a study I saw once (and can't for the life of me find it again) that showed that the single most popular reason women use OLD was for 'validation'. followed by entertainment (or something similar). Actually finding a relationship and/or hookup was down around 4th or 5th place.

I don’t know why we keep talking about this guy. This guy is not getting matches simply because of his height. If he was over 6ft he would have no issue especially if he was over 6ft with the body he currently has.

I don't see the issue with wanting entertainment, with or without a relationship, by someone of any gender. If you, as a guy, aren't having fun, then find a girl you can have fun with. If you feel like things are one-sided, talk to the girl about it. I just don't see the issue here.

Women get intimidated and will auto reject people who do so out of ego protection. Not all of them, but if you don't believe it happens, that's silly. Women are insanely insecure.

Here fella, what tends to happen when a normal guy ends up with a hot hot woman? He gets SUPER jealous, is in constant anxiety, etc. Does that state sound like a good state to be in?

Women don't want to be in that state (unless pretty dysfunctional) either.

Plus women turn down gl dudes all the time to boost their egos.

It takes a lot for a woman to download an app. There are more men on the apps because some women are still unsure about online dating and aren’t comfortable with the stigma that comes with all of that. And more importantly, women tend to have more success finding dates in person than men.

So I’d say that the women who do choose to try OLD are more serious about finding a partner than women you meet at a bar. It’s sort of a last resort thing for women. It’s definitely not entertaining for the vast majority. It’s depressing.

The reason this man is unsuccessful is because he falls into a very niche category of man. “Chads” find a lot of success not only because they are attractive, but more importantly because they are generic. There’s nothing that immediately turns a woman off about their profile. They can fill a lot of boxes. They are like the flavor vanilla.

The man that you used as an example is not average. He’s a very short, Black man in his late 20s who is still a student, doesn’t have an established career, and has VERY specific interests. His dating pool is incredibly small.

Not because he is unattractive, he has a really nice face and body. Not because he isn’t interesting, he’s already more interesting than 90% of the dating profiles I have viewed. Not because he isn’t smart, the guy is educated. But because he is a type. And it’s no where near vanilla. He’s a special order that you have to go out of your way to get. Someone will absolutely adore this very unique man, but most are not going to even give him chance.

The common opinion was that he’d probably do better in real life (if 29-year-old Al Pacino made an OLD profile he’d probably get filtered out through height filters too, and people would have picked apart his every word to find stuff wrong with him to feel better about rejecting him for more superficial reasons).

IMO entertainment isn't the primary goal. A guy usually gains my (F) interest through
a mix of physical attraction, their bio (usually with similar or interesting hobbies, life experiences, etc.), or seem to have a personality I vibe with (usually assumed through poses in photos, writing style, or after matching and talking a bit). My style of OLD on Hinge is usually getting a like first and filtering through those profiles. On Tinder, I'm a bit more proactive in liking profiles, but I don't like using Tinder... it feels like there are a lot more guys who want FWB or FDS and I'm not really looking for hookups.

The only "entertainment" I get from OLD is 1) creating fake profiles which look pretty obviously fake (main profile photo is a strange stock photo with a woman who has insanely styled hair), most photos are memes, bio is ridiculous in that it describes impossibilities or is 100% memeing , or 2) going through profiles (usually rejecting most of them) and taking a minute to laugh at photos where guys are doing some of the stereotypical bro poses, have weirdly sexual photos that one would send to the boys (maybe don't put a picture where you're rubbing your nipples as the first photo...), or if I've seen the same "I like a girl who's chill and doesn't take herself too seriously" for the twentieth time.

You could argue that if you vibe with a person they are entertaining... and yeah, you would be right. But I wouldn't hang out or have any interest spending time/energy with someone I don't vibe with.

There are lots of reasons he may not be getting matches.

Some legitimate (idk what to tell ya, I’m gonna parrot other ladies saying he’s too fit for me to keep up—my partner and I are active, but not intense about it).

Some superficial (see his height.)

Some kinda fucked up (let’s consider the same dude, but white.)

How do you jump to the conclusion that it’s because women want entertainment and he doesn’t promise entertainment? (I actually agree with you to some extent, but not based on this profile thread).
