This needs to interpreted quite broadly for me to agree. We need to think of long term consequences on their own health, personal reputation, on society.

I think you meant it as direct harm. But I am interested in more subtle ways in which the sex can be harmful.

Does BDSM or some fetishes being practiced consensually end up effecting their relationship dynamics outside the bedroom?

Does casual sex cause people to become more sociosexually unrestricted, does this harm society?

Does access to casual sex make it less likely for people to form family units, what are those effects.

What are the ramifications of this commandment on future generations of kids? their value system, quality of life?

So if we consider all that in the "hurt others" then it sounds great.

Of course it's reasonable, but what does it change?

People are already allowed these things, and it doesn't address the more relevant issue of judging others for following the commandment in a way you might disagree with.

One issue is that there is no such thing as truly safe sex. There is almost always a non-zero chance of pregnancy if it’s hetero and there are plenty of diseases that even the most elaborate protection can’t help with, like genital herpes. Another is that it’s impossible to be sure you will do-no-harm. What if she or he catches feelings for you, for example?

I just heard a story about a guy who stumbled across a video of his fiance being tag teamed by two guys before they were dating. This destroyed their relationship. Sometimes the shit you do in the past can definitely affect your relationships in the future. Few men want a promiscuous whore as the mother of their children. If you ever do end up doing crazy things or accumulating a high body count you damn well better make sure you don't leave evidence behind for your future spouse to find.

Whilst I agree with you, there are some people who will try to use the word "responsible" to justify slut-shaming and the like, however.

And personally, whilst I agree with your proposition, other people are still entitled to make whatever moral evaluations of various sexual practices or patterns that they like. I can't force them to change their minds even if I disagree with them. Pluralism means having to live with people, and beliefs, we don't like.

- Be honest about your Sexual history, STDs and don't manipulate people.

- Don't expect others to share your view of the sex and to treat you the way they treat someone with whom they share a similar view.

A lot of men will say that they don't mind that commandment, until the time comes when they want to settle down monogamously with a woman and they find out that she's had a lot of "responsible safe consensual sex" casually with higher value men than him.

Personally, I don't care what women who like sex with a lot of different men do, because women who don't like a lot of consensual sex with different men are pretty easy to find if one searches for them globally rather than locally.

Everyone has different morals. You can attempt to create your own "flawless" moral compass, but the only reason you perceive it as flawless is because it serves all your own interests flawlessly.

Someone else is going to disagree with your "commandment", and they have the right to do so.

So no matter how much work you spend refining this, actions will always have consequences. And that is the only truism in this world, and the only commandment we ALL live by.

The commandment is useless because it's not very clear what "hurt" means in a concrete sense.

Someone can interpret that as "don't have sex more than necessary for reproduction because anything more than that will hurt society in the long term." And I highly doubt that's what you meant.

I pretty well agree with this. Personally, I don't think sleeping around leads to long-term happiness, but it's up to you. Provided, of course, you're being honest with your partner about what this arrangement is. Problem is, people too often aren't, letting someone see this as a real relationship when it's just sex.

I’m pretty sure lots of people agree with you and as a result we have such high rates of aborted kids , single motherhood and people with STDs. Some people preach about “contraceptives “ however there’s no such thing as a contraceptive that is 100 “effective “ at preventing “unwanted pregnancies”. Furthermore regardless if the sex is “responsible , safe and consensual” at the end of the day people (and especially women ) who have premarital sex have high divorce rates .
