I'm undecided.

I read about the news on a celeb gossip site I have the horrible habit of checking more often than I should. A lot of the commenters there said they are deleting their accounts and going away. These people are all rabid feminists and wokeists of the most disgusting caliber, so good?

It might be a little early to tell, since we don't know what exactly he's planning to do with the site. Perhaps he just wants to make himself even richer and things will hardly change at all. Perhaps a lot of Trump-supporting loonies will come back with full force, which I don't think helps our cause in any way.

What I do believe is this is (or could be) very important. Social media nowadays shapes politics and people's beliefs. Some people may argue that people who get too worked up about this need to "touch some grass" and are "chronically online", but even if you shut off social media, you can't stop those who haven't from being influenced by it. I am convinced we're at the current state we are because of a domino effect that started with the tumblr exodus, where a very fringe segment of the internet found its way to the most public platforms and eventually ended up shaping political discourse as well (obviously that's not the only factor). It does seem kinda funny to me how a lot of people celebrate Trump's ban as progress because they recognise the dangers of giving his ideas such a problem platform, but when similar concerns are directed towards their beliefs its just us being "chronically online". Do we need to wait for something like the capitol siege to happen?

PS: He became the main shareholder, idk if that counts as "buying".
