For a certain demographic of men, dating can be quite tough and be an overall rough experience. Not everyone is going to be successful going the traditional dating route. One potential solution for loveless and sexless men who have gone years or even decades without any sort of intimacy, is to consider looking for women overseas where the dating market can be significantly easier, although in this post, I will be specifically talking about The Philippines.

Although going the SE Asia route is considered to be quite unconventional and niche, you might be surprised that it can actually work in some cases. Some men really do meet a woman (or more) from here and go on to have a relatively normal and successful dating life, even if they were unsuccessful back home. So below, I would like to discuss why The Philippines may or may not be a good idea for romantically unsuccessful men to find love.

The case for looking for love in The Philippines: If you're a foreign man, especially if you're white, finding romantic and sexual partners will become much easier just from looking in SE Asia. For example on Tinder, an average looking man in a typical western city will oftentimes struggle to even get matches, let alone a date. But if this same man were to swipe in Cebu or Manilla instead, he could easily get 100+ matches within a week. Not only that, but the attractiveness of the women giving attention is much higher, and they oftentimes put more effort into the conversation compared to women back home. It's not uncommon for Filipina women to start a conversation with you first, ask you questions and be curious about your life, and text you "good morning" without you initiating. This kind of attention is something that many men are not used to back in their home country.

In addition, English is widely spoken in The Philippines, Christianity is prevalent, and their country has some of the most active social media users in the world. This makes Westerners (especially if you're American) and Filipinas highly compatible as relationship partners and is one reason why long distance couples where one of the partners is Pinay is fairly common.

Shorter and smaller men may benefit from looking for women in The Philippines. If you're a shorter man, some women back home may write you off for your height. However, in The Philippines, the average woman is 5 ft tall and they don't care about height to the extent that many western women do.

The case for not looking for love in The Philippines: If you plan on starting a long-distant relationship with someone from The Philippines, be prepared that depending on what country you live in, they may have a really difficult time visiting you in your country. Certain countries have VISA restrictions for Filipino citizens, and in order for Philippine citizens to travel to VISA restricted countries such as America, China, Australia, or most countries in Europe, they first have to go through an interview process, which can take months to even get the appointment and there is no guarantee that it will be approved. This means that if you want to see your girlfriend, you'll most likely have to visit her first. However, not all countries have VISA restrictions for Filipinas to travel to such as Indonesia, Thailand, Brazil, Colombia, Costa Rica, and other countries. So if you happen to live in a VISA-free country for Filipinas to travel to, then it's a lot easier for them to visit you.

And then there's the elephant in the room, which is the green card. Many would argue that Filipinas are only interested in foreign men for their green card, and are actively seeking foreign men because that is their ticket to a better life in another country.
