I heard a similar gripe recently watching some of Ricky Gervais' comedy. He made a joke about someone (can't remember who) and was immediately branded a racist - because the person he made the joke about was black. The joke itself, wasn't racist. And he basically said "thats like telling me I can't make a joke about Bill Cosby and if I do I'm automatically racist".

and I see this alot in arguments echoed by feminism. "The war in Ukraine is a feminist issue" because there are women who are suffering as a result of war for example. "Racism issues are feminist issues - because black women exist".

This video really goes to prove how a lot, if not most women truly have no clue what they're talking about... or at least when it comes to this whole "gender debate". They feel so strongly about things they expose themselves to know nothing about.

"I am held back! I am so oppressed! Men are so privileged!" they say... and when they're asked to give one example, they literally can't do it. Because it doesn't fucking exist.

You would think women - assuming they're reasonable & capable of logic - would self-reflect & think to themselves "have I really thought about this? Are my beliefs accurate? Do the numbers actually back up what I feel to be true?", but nope... you can easily tell that NONE of these women even remotely changed their mind. If anything, they becamore more secure in their already debunked positions.

I’ve asked this same question to many feminists and get similar emotional non-answers. The single example I can find is that men can go topless in public and women can’t. That is the only freedom men enjoy that women can’t in the US. While this does bother me a little, it doesn’t really affect my ability to live an independent and fulfilling life. I do very much appreciate all the advantages of womanhood though like not fighting in wars and likely having my life prioritized for saving in a disaster or emergency situation. It’s so counterproductive to make it such a contest. Men and women both have some advantages and some disadvantages and no one’s life is perfect. So many feminists seem to have no perspective and no gratitude.

Many of the barriers I experienced were self-imposed through learned behavior. As a child I was bullied based on my sex, specifically. If I tried to join rough and tumble games on the playground I was excluded on the grounds of being a girl. I constantly received pressure to engage in sexual activity or sexual conversation when I didn't want to, by boys my own age, older boys, and grown men. This fostered a sense of vulnerability which developed into self-policing, such as avoiding engaging in conversation or avoiding being in certain places. I often had difficulty focusing in school due to my mind's preoccupation with processing the sexual harassment on the morning school bus or from men on my way to the busstop. The first time a man solicited me for sex I was 10.

In school I observed stricter standards for behavior for girls than for boys. This was the 90s/2000s so things may be different now. If a boy talked back or acted out he was reprimanded - whether in a good humored way, or an aggressive/exasperated way - whilst in the rare event a girl talked back or acted out it was treated like a noteworthy event warranting a visit to principals office and an issuing of detention. Whether or not this remains the case in schools today, this is observed today in incarceration facilities, wherein female inmates are more harshly punished with loss of "goodtime" for behavioral follies such as cursing, smoking, or other types of non-violent rule-breaking as compared with male inmates. This is probably why male inmates excel in cultivating blackmarkets - they are allowed more interpersonal freedom.

As a girl, if in a philosophical or intellectual debate, or even a mere discussion in which I voiced disagreement, rather than addressing my take I was dismissed as possessing inferior understanding due to my sex. If that was unsuccessful in quieting me, they'd escalate to using sex-based terms like slut and bitch. I soon learned to quiet myself. It wasn't until well into adulthood that I cultivated an ability to navigate these baseless dismissals.

The first time I exercised violence it was in response to a man trying to force a kiss on me. I cracked him over the head with a bottle. I was proud of myself and told a few people about it, and they responded critically that I had been unfair. I was 14 and took this criticism to heart. My boundaries and confidence in my own senses were continually eroded. This discouragement of violence/assertiveness on my part thereafter opened me up to further instances of predation. Boys, in contrast, were indeed (in general popular culture) taught to hit and to defend themselves against transgressions. I surely envy that in them.

All of this incessant brain-washing I received culminated in a diminished academic performance as well as a diminished ability to be assertive and later to negotiate in my own interests in the workplace.

That being said, even possessing negotiating skills does not do one any guaranteed good. In the U.S. (I can't speak for other places) being female on a male-dominant team is disruptive to the team. I've observed men to be compelled to compete with me, or compete with each other for my attention, when all I'd like to do is work and work as a team.

I'm sure all these things happen to boys/men too. Just sharing how girlhood impacts womanhood and that the barriers faced by women are not so cut and dry as anyone would like to pretend, because the barriers are inserted via the aggressive shaping of women's minds and social habits beginning in girlhood, and the shaping of boys/mens' attitudes towards women.

And yes, all being equal, I have applied for jobs and been rejected on the grounds of my sex. If I had the energy for it I suppose I could have reported these establishments but I was too busy looking for a job to give that much thought. Most memorably I inquired about an HVAC apprenticeship advertised in the newspaper. I was very excited about it, eager to leave my job waiting breakfast tables. The gentleman nervously said the position had been filled. I doubted his honesty so had my husband call to inquire, and, predictably, they readily directed him through the application process.

The fact that women are underrepresented in positions of power, are sexually harassed and raped and rarely believed, don’t have the right to abortion, the way hookup culture emotionally and physically damages college aged women, the constant pressure on women to achieve an unattainable beauty standard, the way once women become mothers they are held to a higher standard than fathers and statistically assume all the domestic responsibilities. I’ve described myself as a feminist for many years but because of this insanity, I can’t do it any longer. If that panel is what people think of when they say “feminist” then a new word is needed. Watching this gave me flashbacks to being bullied in high school. The smug content and insulting of other women they disagree with, the mockery, especially of the athlete when she shared a legitimate concern about women’s sport.
