I work at an all girl's college, and there is a misconception on this subreddit sometimes that the extremist feminist talk is just a fringe group on tumblr and doesn't bleed into the real world. This college revolves around this stuff, to the point when a girl disagrees in the classroom they are socially alienated. It is really bad.

Today I was doing IT stuff I overheard a discussion about how women should get government checks simply for being women. First it started as an argument that women should be forgiven of student loans because of the wage gap, and that it would cause more women to go to college and overtake the work force to equalize the patriarchy.

There was some consensus about this until someone brought up the women who choose not to go to college would be at a disadvantage. This turned into a very heated exchange about privilege, poverty, education.

It came down to one girl (and others agreeing) that women should be given government checks because it removes the financial power difference between gender. Where since a man has more power and more money (re: wage gap), it would make the woman equal and less likely to take up traditional gender roles, and not having to serve those roles just to find a man to take care of them.

I just hate how I see it every year when the new freshmen students come in, they are quickly indoctrinated and turned into extremists, we are literally in the first week and I already see it happening. And if students reject this crap at all it becomes a crisis.

Just wanted to report from the front lines as a man working here. Last year there were serious petitions to make it woman only faculty as well. I should also say that there is a spectrum and a lot of in-fighting, which gets nasty and even violent. Especially on weekends when the guys from neighboring campuses come and party or hang out here. That was another huge issue last year.
