This reminds me of the Costa Concordia cruise ship.

When shit hits the fan, or a boat starts sinking, today's women suddenly revert to damsels in distress who need men to step up and sacrifice their lives for them. Utter bullshit.

[–][deleted] 417 points418 points419 points 8 years ago (37 children) | Copy Link

From that article: "When the Titanic went down in April 1912, the Captain’s orders were: ‘Women and children first!’"

Sure, and women couldn't even vote until 1920. I love how they pick and choose which traditions to keep and which to toss.

[–]Avocadoavenger 285 points286 points287 points 8 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

They evacuate the women and children first so that the men can think of a solution in peace.

[–][deleted] 64 points65 points66 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Frantic Titanic passengers: We've hit an iceberg!

Titanic Captain: Abandon ship! Women and children first!

Captain to First Mate: Finally, some peace and quiet...

Then he got married and fell into all of that shit lol I can't wait for his material if he gets divorced.

[–]tech98 9 points10 points11 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

I listen to his podcast and Burr and Nia seem like a great couple, I don’t think they’re gonna get divorced anytime soon.

[–]RogueVert 1 point2 points3 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

they are good together... listen to Bill, he said he knew she was good for him when he was shitting on her and listing out faults/etc. she lets him finish...

"well, you ain't no picnic either".... booom diffused and they both start bustin' out in laughter....

that's fucking gold, that's the fucking greatest story

[–][deleted] 48 points49 points50 points 8 years ago (5 children) | Copy Link

Even early feminists disagree with him.

Flora Annie Steel — a forgotten name now, but a famous author in 1912 — wrote a poem in the paper saying that the men who perished in the Titanic disaster achieved a mercifully quick death and instant glory whereas their wives were left to grieve and fend for themselves. ‘Women and children last! That is the law of the land.’

[–]hatefulreason 63 points64 points65 points 8 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

this feels more like "women are the primary victims of war..."

[–]UnitedLakes 12 points13 points14 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

I heard a woman in the radio say "women are the primary victims of war..." on Memorial Day.

[–]karmckyle 20 points21 points22 points 8 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Basically, whatever you do is wrong if you're a man; and if you're a woman, you're always the victim.

Simple!

[–]MutinyGMV 0 points1 point2 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

This is the first time I have ever seen that 3rd wave bullshit from a 1st wave feminist. It's pretty telling.

[–]kellykebab 2 points3 points4 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

[–]deplorableinWV 69 points70 points71 points 8 years ago (7 children) | Copy Link

Something tells me not one woman would have traded her place on the lifeboat for the right to vote.

[–]dexmonic 1 point2 points3 points 8 years ago (4 children) | Copy Link

I don't think any man would either. I would 100% give up my right to vote if I was going to die.

[–]deplorableinWV 6 points7 points8 points 8 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

My point was this; Do you believe that any woman on that boat would have traded her place on the lifeboats if someone promised that, should she die, then all women would get the right to vote? Do you believe that type of self-sacrifice is inherent in a woman's nature? Because I truly believe it's not. But the same cannot be said for men. We routinely give our lives for something greater than ourselves and a lot of times we do it without asking the cost, we just bear the burden.

[–]karmckyle 2 points3 points4 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

It seriously almost seems as though there is some sort of unspoken understanding that men are the actual adults of the world, and that women must be treated with kid gloves. Even under the guise of equality, men are still expected to hold doors, give up their seats, do the dirty jobs, be the protectors, etc. Like equality loses all it's luster when the downsides of it roll around.

I'm not complaining or whatever. It's just astonishing that the wildly hypocritical practice is so widely accepted and ignored. It not only seems absurdly unfair to men, but also completely condescending towards women.

There are humans who get to play at things that make them feel grown up, but who then get to pass off the responsibility once a task becomes "too much" for them. Those people, are children.

So how it is not insulting to apply the same basic principle to adult women is entirely beyond me. Like, do so many people out there honestly believe that most women couldn't handle the responsibilities traditionally dumped onto men? WTF is that??

It's just so strange!

[–]deplorableinWV 0 points1 point2 points 8 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

So why would you let a woman take your place, just because she is a woman?

[–]dexmonic 1 point2 points3 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

All things being equal I wouldn't let a woman take my place either. I'd like to say if be selfless enough to sacrifice myself for a mother and her child but honestly I don't know.

[–]Kenny_log_n_s -2 points-1 points0 points 8 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

How would doing that make logical sense for any human?

[–]deplorableinWV 2 points3 points4 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

What dealing with women, logic need not apply.

[–]Macheako 44 points45 points46 points 8 years ago (7 children) | Copy Link

Exactly. It's time for men to start picking a few

[–]Jenga_Police 27 points28 points29 points 8 years ago (6 children) | Copy Link

I say we start by tossing the tradition of women voting, and keep the tradition of women sucking our balls.

[+]0Epicenter0NOT a sex offender -7 points-6 points-5 points 8 years ago (5 children) | Copy Link

Now you're starting to sound like an Incel.

That is a useless and derogatory comment. Comments like this give feminists more fuel.

[–]Jenga_Police 9 points10 points11 points 8 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link

It's satire.

[–]Macheako 1 point2 points3 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

It's satire

[+]0Epicenter0NOT a sex offender -9 points-8 points-7 points 8 years ago (7 children) | Copy Link

Keeping some of that tradition still makes sense to me. The "children first" definitely still makes sense to keep.

If I end up on a sinking cruise liner one day and I'm in line for the life boats and I see a mother and her children I will definitely let them go ahead of me. Maybe it should be "Families first".

The strongest should always do their best to help those who aren't as strong and those who can't help themselves.

[–]karmckyle 4 points5 points6 points 8 years ago* (5 children) | Copy Link

So Wendy Welfare and her hoard are a higher priority than a single adult who may be working on a completely sustainable fuel source?

Yeah, that totally makes sense...

In my mind people are individuals, who should all be assessed by the content of their character. Being too dumb to pull out doesn't automatically give a person more value.

Obviously I'm not saying the scenario I depicted would always be the case. Only that it isn't reasonable to assume the inverse is the default. As much easier as autopilot can be, it's often best to just put in the mental work and assess individual situations as they arise.

[–]Nhablsemotionally unstable feminist nutjob -5 points-4 points-3 points 8 years ago (4 children) | Copy Link

Imagine being this hateful.

Literally arguing against stronger people protecting the weaker , in this case fucking underaged babies and children. Anything to try and do gymnastics to justify the rampant misogyny.

Jesus Christ.

[–]karmckyle 1 point2 points3 points 8 years ago* (3 children) | Copy Link

Literally zero hate. I'm used to those with zero integrity intentionally misinterpreting my ability to be objective, though.

If viewing all women as less than you and in need of your protection helps you to feel good about yourself, it's whatever. Some of us just truly think of women as actual equals is all. Sorry if that offends you, but also not sorry.

All humans are only human. Having certain genitals, or being irresponsible with them, doesn't make anyone better than anyone else.

Because equality. Duh.

[–]Nhablsemotionally unstable feminist nutjob -2 points-1 points0 points 8 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

So Wendy Welfare and her hoard

No hateful shit here. Nope this is just a neutral, "objective" comment. My sides when some retard who spouts shit like this claims someone else doesn't have "integrity"

If viewing all women as less than you helps you to feel good about yourself

Also not anything i remotely said, you were responding to a comment talking about children and responded, again, with some insane shit about "Wendy Welfare and her hoard" and how fucking children shouldn't be a priority in a distress situation.

The fact you think that's normal is beyond telling.

All humans are only human. Having certain genitals, or being irresponsible with them, doesn't make anyone better than anyone else.

Again talking about children, and no children aren't equal, that's why we have very many laws and statutes that specifically protect children and serve as aggravation modifier on penalties for the crimes.

But it's exactly this paranoid behavior you demonstrate that shows off your hatred, you're obsessed with this false narrative made of strawmans

As far as protecting someone who is getting assaulted by someone much bigger without any kind of provocation, yes you should also intervene as far as your ability allows you. It's called basic human decency, doesn't matter if it's a man or woman being assaulted.

[–]Mostofyouareidiots -1 points0 points1 point 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

I think it should be children last, they have less to offer the society and fewer people who will be affected by their death. Meanwhile an adult has a job and various responsibilities to others that he must fulfill.

[–]MutinyGMV 125 points126 points127 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

"You're equal when the paychecks are given out, but 'different' when the ship goes down. "

Best comment that sums up that entire article lol.

[–]ChildbearingTrapeze 147 points148 points149 points 8 years ago (6 children) | Copy Link

Wow that article put me in a bad mood

[–]oddshouten 170 points171 points172 points 8 years ago* (5 children) | Copy Link

the racist who wrote the article actually stopped to mention the nationality of three men from steerage of Titanic, saying they “refused to obey ‘women and children first’, (Italians, coincidentally).”

fucking awful human being. decrying sexism while using racism as a defense for... what, exactly?

[–]ChildbearingTrapeze 57 points58 points59 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

You see, you cis male scum who cannot understand the enlightened feminist cause, men are the oppressors. Women should get equal treatment to the cruel dictators of their lives, but when given the opportunity, such as on a sinking ship, they should throw off their shackles and let the disgusting male pigs die with the ship. Also, fuck Italians. They’re evil. /s

I work at a hospital. It is literally in our policy that in an emergency situation were we need to evacuate we get ambulatory people (non-disabled people) out first, then semi-ambulatory, and finally non-ambulatory.

Daily Fail

[–]wallacehacks 5 points6 points7 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Although this legendary edict was never part of maritime law, it was adhered to so strictly on the Titanic that men were actually stopped from boarding lifeboats, many of which went to sea only three-quarters full.

So people died who didn't need to? What the fuck that's so dumb.

[–]PartyClass 1 point2 points3 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

While think that everyone should be loaded equally onto lifeboats, with the exception of children. If it gets down to a shoving match instead of an orderly line, you need to compensate for those who cannot push their way through so well

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point2 points 7 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

They're only equal when it's convenient to them. most of the time they just want to talk about how strong and independent they are, while they get as many people as possible to take care of them behind the scenes. All talk and no walk.

I would help a man in distress. Or a woman. Anyone should. If you wouldn't, you're a coward. That's not a bad thing by the way, people have different responses to danger. But don't make it about pretend support for equality to somehow feel justified or superior.

[–]dexewin 16 points17 points18 points 8 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

I'd help someone in distress only if I was armed or felt that in doing so the risk of my own safety was insignificant. Otherwise I'm out, I'll call the cops but no way would I risk my own safety to help someone I don't know. Never know when someone might pull a gun or knife if you try taking them on.

[–]karmckyle 0 points1 point2 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Rewatched KickAss the other night. When he first defends that guy running from the other guys, I thought "would some half-assed jackers really chase some dude down so hard for so long over his watch or some petty material shit?" That just didn't seem realistic. The film offers no context, though. So in my mind, the dude running probably tried to pull some shady shit, then make his escape. Maybe not, but in his efforts to feel superior, KickAss could have very well been defending the real bad guy.

That's just a crude example, but the point remains: with no context, we are left only to speculate. So all the self-righteous comments here are just the projection of some people's assumptions. Presumably so those people would have a feeble platform from which to assert that they're "better".

[–]Dls95405 26 points27 points28 points 8 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

In a psychology class, we did an experiment to see who helped who, gender-wise. I won't bore you with the details but, as many here would expect, both men and women helped women in distress, almost nobody helped men.

[–]karmckyle 5 points6 points7 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Because "men are capable of helping themselves" ...

[–]georgeapg 40 points41 points42 points 8 years ago (8 children) | Copy Link

The problem is that if 2 Englishmen get involved they will be the ones to get in trouble. The women had already expressed that she wants them punished instead of the crazy middle eastern dude. Imagine what she would say if they used force to defend themselves or her.

[+]Astrosomnia -26 points-25 points-24 points 8 years ago (7 children) | Copy Link

That's simply not true and you're completely projecting in an attempt to justify not helping another human. Which is exactly what's wrong with our social fabric nowadays.

[–]georgeapg 27 points28 points29 points 8 years ago (6 children) | Copy Link

Read the article, she explicitly states that she wants the 2 white men punished and no repercussions for the middle eastern dude.

[+]Astrosomnia -26 points-25 points-24 points 8 years ago (5 children) | Copy Link

No, she doesn't. She says she blames/is unimpressed with the two guys. As well she should be; I would be really upset if I was being attacked and instead of helping me, two able bodied men ran away. And I'm a dude. Then she says the guy that attacked her is sick and needs help. Which is also understandable. You're projecting because, like, I assume you have a hatred of women and want to see them villified. I dunno what else to tell you man.

[–]lokiangel 21 points22 points23 points 8 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Respect to you for posting your point of view and discussing this controversial topic. I'd like to ask where you got the idea that these were 2 able bodied men? Many disabilities are not visible and some mental illnesses such as post traumatic disorder and anxiety disorder can exasperate situations like this. My assumption is they were not running away from a person being attacked but rather the attacker himself. The victim may have avoided this traumatizing situation by following suit. I myself have been a victim of assault and was terrified. I definitely empathize with this woman and agree we have an instinct to help others in our community. Some people even give their lives to aid others in need. We usually call them Heroes. Please consider that most people cannot be heroes. That's why we have a word for unusual acts of bravery. "If everyone is special then no one is."

[–]D2too 1 point2 points3 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Well said!

[–]functionalghost 19 points20 points21 points 8 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

She's an entitled cunt. No one is obligated to help you, they may have had great reason to run, maybe his daughter was on the other carriage and he wanted to make sure she was OK. We don't know anything about what happened except her words and to be honest I'd take bets this never happened but she wanted a reason to play victim and bash white males

[–]TRUMP_WALL_2016 0 points1 point2 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

women say my body my choice for rotorooting babies but when it comes to putting yourself in harms way to protect the totally equal stronk feminists its your body my choice. fuck em

[–]georgeapg 19 points20 points21 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

No hatred for women. However I do have a healthy dislike of muslims. As a survivor of Muslim violence who has lost family to it I find this womens defense of her attacker to be weird.

[–][deleted] 12 points13 points14 points 8 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

She spent her ENTIRE CAREER belittling white men and giving free passes for everyone else. If she wants to live that way, then she can die without our help should one of her Muslim pets turn on her.

Holy shit are you people actually taking joy out of this?

Jesus fucking Christ

[–]karmckyle 2 points3 points4 points 8 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

Yes, ideally all humans would help all humans. That isn't the debate in this instance, though.

It is the assertion that those men should've inherently helped that woman. As though there is some unspoken social contract.

Not a single person here has suggested that ideally humans wouldn't all help each other. Some are just honest enough to admit if they wouldn't put their life on the line for a total stranger. Maybe raising their child is more important to them than getting involved in a mess someone else made. I honestly don't know. I'm not so self-righteous that I've got to assume the motives of everyone involved to sate my thirst for social superiority.

[–]Nhablsemotionally unstable feminist nutjob -2 points-1 points0 points 8 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Do tell me, which "pussy pass" was denied?

Was it the expectation of basic human decency?

Whatever helps you feel superior, mate!

[–]TruthGetsBanned 0 points1 point2 points 8 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

Many EU news/media no longer report migrants, Muslims, middle eastern people etc... as such but instead only report them as "South Asian" or a variant of it. This is to prevent them(the news/media) from seeming racist or anti-muslim/migrant and to obfuscate statistics/incidents to make it seem as if there isn't a vast prevalence of crime being committed by those groups listed above. Using a nondescript regional descriptor helps to push certain policy that is seeing vast and dangerous effects such as arresting those who refuse to use said nondescript descriptors, or to arrest those who DO report on incidents or the courts obvious bias against punishing migrants(incredibly unfair punishments for crimes that would cost any other person decades of their life to prison but for some reason these specific groups are granted passes to commit said crimes as "in their culture it isn't a crime"). It's little more than thought control and a push to have ever greater control over the populous as seen recently when a person was arrested and thrown in jail for making a video near a court house of which was about a migrant rapist. People can't learn that the government is allowing citizens to be raped by certain groups, if people can't report on the cases.

Same reason that some cities in California are banning public review of police body cameras. Too many people are noticing the average race of perps and that can only "perpetuate negative stereotypes"....

[–]Benlammah 1 point2 points3 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Pretty sure stereotypes don't come from nowhere.

[–]Antiochia 18 points19 points20 points 8 years ago (9 children) | Copy Link

Which is complete bullshit. It's a pure UK habbit, which has been going since the colonization of India. India was south asian for UK-people, and Pakistan was a part of India while they were a colony. Calling people from pakistan asian has been done in the UK for decades, so noone in the UK will be "tricked" by a UK-habbit. And outside of the UK it's definitely not custom, I'd be thankful for even one none-UK article that calls a Pakistani south-asian.

[–][deleted] 9 points10 points11 points 8 years ago (8 children) | Copy Link

Funnily enough the UK generally names people's purely based off the continent they live on. Africans. Asians. Europeans. Australians. Americans. There has never been an alternative motive beyond correct geography.

[–]heathenyak 1 point2 points3 points 8 years ago (7 children) | Copy Link

Wait they just say Americans? Like for north, central, AND South Americans?

[–]Hybernative 0 points1 point2 points 8 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

Why not? Aren't they? My Canadian cousins were a little perturbed to be called 'Americans', but it's not said with any particular connotation; it's just a little more modern than calling Americans 'New Worlders'.

[–]heathenyak 0 points1 point2 points 8 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

I mean TECHNICALLY it’s accurate but it would be like calling Europeans and Africans the same thing.

[–]Hybernative 0 points1 point2 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

That doesn't make any sense. I suppose you could use the example of of calling Europeans and Asians Eurasians though.

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point2 points 8 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link

We seperate north and south but again that's more geography than it is about different types of people.

[–]heathenyak 0 points1 point2 points 8 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

I may well have some unchecked privilege. If I have ,I try not to let if affect who I am and how I live my life. I just try and be fair to everyone and that's all I can do.

If someone else is being attacked (for a reason I don't know why), intervening will just result in them fucking me over too. Call the police and attempt to disrupt it all from a distance.

I'm still me. As a bloke I'm probably a more legitimate target.

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point2 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

But he was 6ft tall. Didn’t you read the bit about him being 6ft tall? He was white and 6ft tall so that makes all the difference. I have no idea what size he is, though he is 6ft tall. Coincidentally, I have no idea how tall she is, but I know she’s size 8. Her dress size and not her height or her race are of importance, but he was white and 6ft tall. Wow. 6ft tall. And she’s just a size 8.

God fucking dammit that article and her obsession with him being of average height was infuriating.

The problem was, post the tube bombings and a laundry list of other attacks and later the grooming gangs, any mention of the above was deemed racism. So a euphemism was adopted whenever it cropped up - Asian.

Because that's totally different, you see.

[–]KevinReems 17 points18 points19 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Did she get the shit beat out of her though? The article says the guy kicked her once and did a lot of yelling. Then goes on to say that children and women were crying? This whole thing seems blown out of proportion to me.

I'm not saying she wasn't attacked but if things were as serious as she's making them out to be then yeah, someone would have stepped in. But I have my doubts that this was anything more than a typical drunken confrontation. Ain't nobody got time for that.

[–]functionalghost 7 points8 points9 points 8 years ago (22 children) | Copy Link

Nah. They don't owe you anything although personally I'd try and find a distress button or flag down a policeman

[–][deleted] -3 points-2 points-1 points 8 years ago (21 children) | Copy Link

I agree nothing is owed, but there is a moral/ethical imperative to intervene if you are able. I think anyone that wouldn't would be acting unethically. By deciding to do nothing, you've decided for the person being assaulted to continue being assaulted.

[–]automatethethings 1 point2 points3 points 8 years ago (13 children) | Copy Link

Tell me, if they had intervened and saved her but been critically injured in the process would she have had a moral/ethical imperative to support them financially while they recover?

[–][deleted] -1 points0 points1 point 8 years ago (12 children) | Copy Link

That's a tough call. I wouldn't say so. I would say that I personally think she should, but I don't think there is a moral imperative. The intervenor knew that, by intervening, they might get hurt and took on that respinsibility when they chose to intervene.

[–]automatethethings 2 points3 points4 points 8 years ago (11 children) | Copy Link

Do you see the flaw in your argument now? If the person you save has no moral obligation to assist you financially if you are hurt coming to their aid what benefit is it to the rescuer?

What if the men have families that rely on them as the sole source of income? What happens to them?

We don't live in a fantasy world where the hero always comes out unscathed. There are consequences that reach farther than this specific moment. There is no support system in place to provide assistance to the families of good Samaritans if they are injured or killed.

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point2 points 8 years ago (8 children) | Copy Link

There is no flaw in my argument.

You have a moral obligation to intervene, but you have to weigh that against the risk of getting hurt. That's where personal choicw comes in. Would you rather do the morally right thing and risk being injured, or do nothing and play it safe? It's up to you entirely.

Suppose you have a wife and kids, the risk of being injured is high, and you don't have medical insurance. Then the moral imperative to preserve your own health for the well being of your family might outweigh the imperative to help the assaulted. It is easy to come up with scenarios in which something otherwise morally wrong would seem justified.

[–]automatethethings 1 point2 points3 points 8 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

While intervening is noble, I don't believe anyone has the obligation to put themselves in harms way for a stranger. It's wrong for people to judge others for inaction when they have no knowledge of their circumstance.

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point2 points 8 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Intervening is absolutely an obligation. There can be mitigating circumstances that potentially outweigh that obligation, but in a society, one should and is obligated to look out for his fellow man as much as he is able. I never judged any of these people. I just know that I would have intervened.

[–]functionalghost 0 points1 point2 points 8 years ago (4 children) | Copy Link

Yeah sorry mate but you got totally destroyed and you walked into it. Be honest not for us but for yourself: he's made a compelling case As to why intervening is not a decision to take lightly and made such a compelling argument I don't thunk you can label these guys cowards

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point2 points 8 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link

I didn't get destroyed and I never said it should be taken lightly. Yes, he made a compelling case, but that's why I said making that case was easy. I also never called them cowards. All I said was that there is a moral imperative to intervene. I've been honest this whole time; I've also been right.

[–]functionalghost 0 points1 point2 points 8 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Wow so you are absolutely right and just destroyed his argument by pointing out that intervention comes at a cost and it's not reasonable to expect people to help you at potential risk to them. What if the dudes had been sliced in the face with a knife and had a horrible scar? Or broke a leg? They don't owe anyone anything. It's noble to help and brave sure but for this woman to expect it and shame others publicly on a mass media platform that they have no access to well.... Pussy pass gonna get cashed in

[–]automatethethings 1 point2 points3 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

The best a good samaritan can hope to receive is a mention in a news article. Personally I'd rather be shamed than crippled.

[–]Dls95405 0 points1 point2 points 8 years ago (5 children) | Copy Link

You are obviously a man. No woman on earth has ever said such a thing.

[–][deleted] 1 point2 points3 points 8 years ago (4 children) | Copy Link

I am, although it's irrelevant. And many women have said exactly what I said. Not the stereotypical, entitled bitches we see posted here, but many women agree with what I said, even if they would be the ones running in to help someone.

[–]Dls95405 0 points1 point2 points 8 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link

As always, what people say and what they actually do are quite different. Who is going to admit they would simply walk by a man in distress? That's what we saw again and again and again.

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point2 points 8 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

To answer your question, I will refer you to the comment I originally replied to.

[–]Dls95405 1 point2 points3 points 8 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

My point is, what people say they would do really isn't relevant. You have to look at large numbers of people in that position who don't know they're being watched. Then you see what the majority do, and the overwhelming majority of men, and virtually all women, passed men by who were in distress and obviously needed help. Both men and women rushed to help women in distress.

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point2 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Your point is irrelevant, at least in the context of this argument. I'm arguing the moral imperative, not what actually happens. All you've done is further explain that people live immoral lives. No surprise there.

I'm well aware of the biases that occur in treatment of the separate genders. You'd have to look no further than the death penalty in the US to see that. It's a truly sexist establishment. You should look into it. It's the highest form of a pussy pass. Women receive the death penalty drastically less for the same crimes as men.

he was a big guy and I am only size eight.'

A woman can do everything a man can do, I just didn't want to get hurt that's all. Yes, it makes perfect sense ((points nose in the air)). It's actually all THEIR FAULT for not manning up and taking my punches for me. How dare they not worship the ground I walk on. It's misogyny I tell you, misogyny.

[–]MutinyGMV 26 points27 points28 points 8 years ago* (0 children) | Copy Link

Good question, I considered that as well. I came to the conclusion that a woman of her age, station, and elitist attitude would. In her head she is not comparing herself to "models", she is comparing herself to other middle aged female executives. Thinly veiled bragging is part of the passive aggressive attacks that women use to to show dominance over other women. This is modus operandi for something as female-centric and superficial as the fashion world. Based on her years of experience in that field, it's probably so much of a habit that she doesn't even realize she's doing it.

Mentally ill foreigner is a bit of a xenophobic assumption, there are tons of third or fourth generation south east Asian descent people in the UK as well as plenty of newer immigrants, the term Southeast Asian encompasses both, roots of Indians for example can go as far back as the 30s but big exodus after 60s. The equivalent in the US is if you called a Mexican American a mentally ill foreigner, without knowing if they are new/illegal immigrant or a third fourth gen Mexican American with a mental illness.

[–]MutinyGMV 3 points4 points5 points 8 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

I found it highly likely that a woman who radiates such overwhelming waves of snobbery, would have xenophobic thoughts when initially experiencing "fight or flight" because of large dangerous looking man from Southeast Asia.

Being politically correct must be so fucking confusing. To not blame the man that attacked you for fear of being racist and instead attacking white men to appear not racist.

It's almost like no one thinks like this and you're just an idiot for thinking otherwise. Almost

[–]nocivo 5 points6 points7 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

when the fathers and husbands want to keep these violent man at the borders and send them back to their countries they are called racists, when they don't do shit they are shame. can these women fucking decide what they want?

[–]nottodayfolks 4 points5 points6 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Muslim guy attacks her and it's the white mans fault.

[–]zitandspit99 0 points1 point2 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

I wonder what she would have said if one of the men who walked away was brown.

[–]billyidolspetgoat 238 points239 points240 points 8 years ago (14 children) | Copy Link

I doubt any of it happened. No witnesses, no CCTV just lots and lots of virtue signalling and racism against white men.

[–]Jex117 112 points113 points114 points 8 years ago (4 children) | Copy Link

If she made it all up, she'd have said a white man attacked her while other white men refused to assist. She wouldn't have mentioned it was a Middle Eastern man who attacked her.

[–][deleted] 26 points27 points28 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

That's a great point.

[–][deleted] 5 points6 points7 points 8 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Why? In this racist world it sounds more legitimate that a minority attacked her because minorities cause crime per racist world views currently.A 6 foot tall south eastern man? Well shes most likely not talking about somone from Korea or Vietnam. She didnt just want to say Indian because being soeific about ethicnicity makes it to pin down who the person was and whether they exist.

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point2 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

It's possible that she said that in order to make it more believable but I'm still leaning towards you being right. This probably did happen but I highly doubt it happened exactly as she said it did. While it's true that a crazy person could say "I'm going to kick you" to a random stranger before kicking them I still think it's still a bit too strange. People don't usually put themselves at risk of being put in prison for no reason at all.

[–]sparkyjay23 18 points19 points20 points 8 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

The tube absolutely has cameras on the Northern Line carriages. The thing thing she should have done is pull the emergency alarm and the train stops at the next station and dude gets arrested at the station, doing nothing so you can cry to the fucking Daily Mail is beyond stupid.

[–]Kryptosis 8 points9 points10 points 8 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Anyone who approaches the daily mail as the sole advocate of their tale is so obviously full of bullshit agendas that they aren't worth acknowledging.

[–]sparkyjay23 0 points1 point2 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

So many mail stories appear no where else because they make up so much bullshit.

[–]Corbo198548 points 8 years ago [recovered] (4 children) | Copy Link

Exactly. I love how "white middle class men" is now the go to phrase to use to smear white men in general now. It's now just used as a derogatory term. I have never seen so many articles now that go out of their way to describe the race and social status.

The war on white men is what this decade now is.

[–]codifier 12 points13 points14 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Been going on long before this decade.

[–]Nuttin_Up 0 points1 point2 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

This was my first thought. Although, I did also think that she was indeed attacked but there were never two white men who walked away.

[–][deleted] 115 points116 points117 points 8 years ago (9 children) | Copy Link

What a strong, independent woman! LOL.... If a man was the one being attacked she wouldn't have moved a finger.

[–]notacrackheadofficer 73 points74 points75 points 8 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

''He probably deserved it'' every single feminist would say.

[–][deleted] 44 points45 points46 points 8 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Especially if he was a f*cking white male.

[–][deleted] 27 points28 points29 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

And that is exactly why nobody takes us seriously. Today's feminism is cancer.

[–]0Epicenter0NOT a sex offender -2 points-1 points0 points 8 years ago (5 children) | Copy Link

So if someone else behaves terribly that means you should act that way too?

[–][deleted] 1 point2 points3 points 8 years ago (4 children) | Copy Link

Not at all. The problem here is with her expectations and her entitlement. She was expecting those two men to risk their well being for her when it is highly unlikely she would have done so for a male in the same circumstances. Does that seem fair to you? I personally would have intervened but that is MY choice and not a requirement.

[–]0Epicenter0NOT a sex offender 0 points1 point2 points 8 years ago* (3 children) | Copy Link

Yes it does.

If you're with a group of people and you see someone being abused by a person much bigger and stronger than them and you and your friend or group just walk away you're pieces of shit.

What if that women was a little kid? Would you call a little kid "entitled" if she or he expected or hoped for help from some adults who saw them being abused?

If someone is being threatened or assaulted by someone who is much bigger and stronger than them it isn't entitlement to hope for help from the bystanders regardless of gender. It doesn't matter if the victim is a man, women or a child. A good person will always try to help a person who is in danger or being abused any way they can.

[–][deleted] 1 point2 points3 points 8 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

I strongly disagree.

You have no idea why someone may choose not to help other person in danger. That doesn't make them pieces of shit. You don't know if the person is sick and has no chance of successfully confronting the attacker. You don't know if the person has a previous conviction and must avoid conflicts at all costs to be able to keep providing for his family. An overall good person may choose not to intervene as much as an overall shitty person may choose to do so. The world is not just black and white. Bottom line is you have no solid knowledge and base your judgment on pure speculation.

[–]0Epicenter0NOT a sex offender 0 points1 point2 points 8 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Sure your logic works if the bystander is on their own. If you're in a group though you really don't have any excuse.

Intervening doesn't always mean confronting the assailant. A lot of people have smart phones, so help is just a few button presses away. There are many ways to help without intervening directly. The bottom line is there really is no excuse for just walking away.

People can lie to themselves all they want and tell themselves they are a good person, but if you would just walk away from someone in dire need without doing anything you are in no way a good person.

[–]Mostofyouareidiots 1 point2 points3 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

The virtue signalling... it's... too strong...

If you're in a group though you really don't have any excuse.

Yeah, because two guys is "a group". That crazy person could've had a knife or a gun and contrary to popular belief I'm not Jackie Chan so I doubt I would've been much help. Sounds like you wanted 3 victims instead of just one.

Intervening doesn't always mean confronting the assailant. A lot of people have smart phones, so help is just a few button presses away.

How do you know they didn't call the police?

In the end she was just being an idiot who thought this guy was doing "performance art" and she didn't leave like a normal person would've. Then she blamed the innocent people around her rather than the guy who actually attacked her.

She doesn’t blame the attacker for attacking her but she blames the guys that removed themselves from the situation? Makes sense. I don’t blame Jack In The Box for making me fat. I blame Ford because they made the vehicle I drive to get the food.

[–][deleted] 1 point2 points3 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Very wise - ford is a valuable company which can be guilted. Jack in the box is probably unemployed and bankrupt anyway. Oh, we still talking about companies?

[–]DarkSoulsEater 0 points1 point2 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

[–]nocivo 4 points5 points6 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Why would anyone risk their life for a stranger for free in these days? You could get injury, arrested or worse dead. Imagine the that crazy guy had a knife and stab you? Would you risk it? I bet any of those man got hurt while defend her She would thank him or support him if he got serious injure.

Feminism say they don't need man so let them handle their own problems. Don't risk you life for any women.

I would only risk my life for kids or close friends (males because they would respect you for life). Fuck everyone else.

From the article: “... she is keen to expresse she does not blame this man (the attacker) who seemed he was of....”

So, she doesn’t blame the guy who is literally kicking her on the ground but she blames the middle class white men?

Go figure.

[–]akevarsky 4 points5 points6 points 8 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Well, the guy who attacked her was of "Southeast Asian Descent". It's not his fault clearly. Now those middle class white men on the other hand...

"So what if he was attacking me? I'm not YOUR property, white men, and you rushing to my defense only reinforces negative gender sterotypes and proves toxic masculinity and white privilege are still serious problems that plague our society."

Let's face it, you're damned no matter what you do in situations like this. The best choice is to just mind your own business. Besides, these are the same people who adamantly state there are no differences between the two sexes and that women can do everything men can do. So which is it? You either need the help of the men you despise so much or you're a strong independent wamen who can do anything and everything a man can do. Fucking pick one.

[–]bohunk9 53 points54 points55 points 8 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

"As fathers, husbands and sons they should be ashamed of themselves." No. Absolutely no one is required to risk their lives to save yours. Especially "two white men" you sexist, racist piece of shit. Men are not disposable. Men are not here to serve women. Men dont owe women shit, especially when they have hit pieces like this written about them. Dont use your race, sex, or "size 8" status as justification. The juxtaposition of a female CEO and damsel in distress is the epitome of female privilege. Your life isn't more valuable than anyone else's.

[–]0Epicenter0NOT a sex offender -5 points-4 points-3 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

But you can't consider yourself in anyway a good or decent person if you see a person being abused by someone much bigger and stronger than them and you just leave especially if you're in a group.

Also remember this logic you use if you're ever in trouble and wonder why no one will help you.

[–]uberduger 12 points13 points14 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

If people want equality and for men to not treat women differently, then I'm sorry but they lose their right for me to try and defend them from threats just because they're women. I'd still try and protect someone from a physical threat if I felt like I was equipped to help, but I'm not getting my ass whipped for a woman any more solely because she's a woman, because apparently that's sexist.

[–][deleted] 13 points14 points15 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

I remember that some guys in Portland tried to defend a couple of women that were being harassed and then the guys ended up getting stabbed by the harasser. Two of them died while the last one ended up in the hospital after being stabbed in the neck. That's the sort of risk you've got to calculate when thinking about getting in the middle of a dispute like that. Personally I think going to jail is worse than an ass kicking and this has caused me to not help people for fear of legal issues.

Its not even a gender issue fully, the United States is just an unfriendly and unhelpful place due to frivolous liability suits. It would be nice to be able to help people on the fly without needing to give a second thought about how this person could ruin your life.

If you were so scared is one thing but one of you had a briefcase and could have helped me and both of you could have pulled the chord from the safety of the next carriage that you left me for. I would never in my life do that.

[–]SocialForceField 18 points19 points20 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Concealed carry would imply a firearm I believe

[–]infamousnexus 3 points4 points5 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

[–]infinitude 3 points4 points5 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

concealed carry

i was implying it, but trying to point out there's plenty of options for people who may not be able to easily get or carry a gun.

[–]LeeHarveySnoswald 1 point2 points3 points 8 years ago (4 children) | Copy Link

Pepper spray can be more desirable depending on the situation. If you have to use a gun you basically have to be in a situation where you're confident you can legally kill someone. However with pepper spray you have an effective way to incapacitate someone without worrying about having to defend against a murder charge.

[–]haircutcel 1 point2 points3 points 8 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link

There’s probably 10 judges in the entire country who would convict a woman of murder in any situation that could be vaguely interpreted as self defense. Even more so if she lives in the south/Southwest where it’s legal to gun down somebody from behind as they run.

[–]LeeHarveySnoswald -1 points0 points1 point 8 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

10? Are you a lawyer or something? How would you make that determination? I don't know about the rest of the country but I know in California the line for self defense is pretty thin, a lot of people think it just means "well I was afraid for my life" but it doesn't. Like I said, it might be more loose elsewhere, but here you have to convince either a judge or jury that you had a "reasonable expectation of great bodily harm or deadly force" meaning for instance if someone comes and kicks you in the leg on the train, you can't just waste them for that alone.

[–]haircutcel 2 points3 points4 points 8 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Because women get the benefit of the doubt when it comes to trials in the West. The actual number is irrelevant, I was simply making a point that a woman being convicted of murder in a self defense situation is extremely unlikely.

California is fucked, it’s justice system is an anomaly in the US.

[–]LeeHarveySnoswald 1 point2 points3 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

If you say so, I'm certainly not agaisnt carrying a gun, and I certainly don't agree with current self defense laws.

The land here in California is beautiful. We all pay the price of the view by having dogshit government reps.

[–]claw09 -2 points-1 points0 points 8 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

I prefer pepper spray. The reaction is priceless and the chance that you unnecessarily hurt someone long term is low.

This is really fucked up. Especially when throughout history Britain fucked and invaded everything. But now you bitch about immigrants as a whole. Because of isolated incidents. If you ever come to a concept called empathy you just might realize that most immigrants are trying to escape environments just like that, that are brought upon on them and their original countries by governments just like yours, that are just jam packed with clueless xenophobic fuck heads for citizens just like someone in particular.

[–]Monistico 1 point2 points3 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

[–]Janders2124 1 point2 points3 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

So she doesn't blame the guy that assaulted her but she blames 2 random bystanders just because they're were white men? Sounds fair.

[–][deleted] 1 point2 points3 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Then continues to say that she’s a strong independent woman that doesn’t need men in her life.

[–][deleted] 1 point2 points3 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

The fashion CEO is keen to stress she does not blame this man, who she desribes as being 6ft tall and of Southeast Asian descent.

She said she believes he needs medical help but added the incident was 'terrifying'.

'I remain more angry with those white middle class men who left me to it. As fathers, husbands and sons they should be ashamed of themselves.'

She's assuming that the two men who left the carriage were neurotypical because they're white men and therefore are expected to be her bulwark and her support. No laying down on the job for them! They must thrust themselves into the breach to rescue her no matter what might be going through their heads at the moment. But that poor misunderstood Six Foot One Attacker guy, well, he's not a white male, so therefore she doesn't blame him really. After all, he probably has "mental problems!" Not like those "middle class white men" who never ever have mental problems, no siree.

Nope, it's protecting someone from the consequences of their own bad decisions by sacrificing your own safety, for no other reason than that they have a vagina. Don't give a fuck what bullshit you spout, that doesn't change kid lol.

If someone comes out of nowhere and punches a girl in the face for no apparent reason, i'll step to help them out. I would also do the same for a guy.

So everyone should've just left the train because the dude might attack them? And where do you even get the idea that she wasn't already being attacked when they left?

What about the elderly people and children that were on the train, would you also expect them to just move away?

And you think what , most people just feel confident to even get up when there's someone 15-20cm taller and much larger than them shouting aggressive shit at them? Are you medically retarded?

Also staying in your spot is now being responsible for being beaten up? Good god, i fear the day anyone might put someone like you in a law making position. Jesus christ you people are completely deranged.

Except this had nothing to do with your perception of what knighting is or isn't. I don't give even half a shit about that, it'd to do with your retarded, illogical made up on the fly beliefs that fall apart under scrutiny.

Taking something to the extreme isn't a fallacy by default you unbelievable dumbass. It's how you prove if rules are solid or not, literally one of the basic steps in proving logical statements and mathematical formulas.

[–]McDray 0 points1 point2 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

I'll go against the grain on this one and say that I agree with her point that they could have helped her. It's not about feminism or being PC. It's about helping (if you can) when you see someone that is incapable of helping himself or herself. If it was a 90 year old man about to be attacked the same would be true.

That being said, maybe those two white, middle class guys were little bitches who knew that they would get the shit kicked out of them and they actually needed more protection than her. I don't know. I like to think that I would at least say something to distract the guy and help her get off the train.

When someone is being assaulted and threatened by someone much bigger and stronger than them decent people would intervene not leave and abandon them.

Sorry I’m lost on why it belongs here. She’s not wrong about expecting the other passengers assisting a woman (or any other person for that matter) imo. Is the words she chose to define the guys?

[–]Oma266 47 points48 points49 points 8 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Its not because she expected her fellow citizens to defend her. It belongs here because she expecting specifically the men to defend her because she was a woman. So it works twofold where it’s “You’re a male therefore its your job to protect” and “I’m a female so therefore I deserve to be protected even at the cost of your safety”

If she had just said she was disappointed that no one helped her it would be fair. But singling out the men in particular shows her entitlement.

Would I have helped, sure. Would I call someone else out because they don't want to risk it, probably not.

You just assuming a woman needs a mans help is pretty sexist.

[–]LeeHarveySnoswald -3 points-2 points-1 points 8 years ago (23 children) | Copy Link

  1. Not about need.

  2. Not about her being a woman

I would hold these guys to the same standard if it was a guy getting kicked by a crazy person.

Nice try though.

[–][deleted] 10 points11 points12 points 8 years ago (19 children) | Copy Link

Sure you would champ.

[–]LeeHarveySnoswald -1 points0 points1 point 8 years ago (18 children) | Copy Link

"I think it's hypocritical when people hold men and women to different standards"

"Oh well actually I agree, and will now clarify that I would hold them equal"

"Liar."

How convenient, it's almost as if you have a system where no matter what your narrative remains unchallenged.

Have fun in your circlejerk, sport.

[–][deleted] 10 points11 points12 points 8 years ago (17 children) | Copy Link

Soapbox all you want, we all know you’re full of shit.

[–]LeeHarveySnoswald -1 points0 points1 point 8 years ago (16 children) | Copy Link

"we all know"

"I assume based on literally nothing"

You guys are the definition of feels over reals.

[–][deleted] 5 points6 points7 points 8 years ago (15 children) | Copy Link

You’re the one getting shit on here bub lol

Try not to drown in your own hypocrisy now....

[–]claw09 5 points6 points7 points 8 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

As if anyone would give a shit if a group of women abandoned a man to fend for himself.

In fact, most people would say that the women did the right thing protecting themselves and that the man should be content with simple "honor" instead of the women paying his medical bills.

[–]LeeHarveySnoswald -1 points0 points1 point 8 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

I would give a shit. I wouldn't say the men or the women had to go Batman on the assailant, but just moving into another car and wiping their hands of the situation? I'd call them cowards as well.

[–]claw09 3 points4 points5 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

I'll believe it when I see it.

[–]kellykebab -4 points-3 points-2 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

I believe that men should protect women in these kinds of situations. I can understand why she was frustrated. However, I don't understand why she made an issue out of every single person's ethnicity, gender, and general physical description. It's also ridiculous that she just completely excused her attacker's behavior due to "illness."

[–]mattgcreek -2 points-1 points0 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

I actually agree with her, it is cowardly for 2 men to walk away and leave a woman alone being attacked. This isn’t pussy pass denied shit, this is common decency. Same as seeing a smaller 14 year old boy being bullied by a grown man, you don’t walk away and let him get his ass kicked.

[+]TripleSkeet -53 points-52 points-51 points 8 years ago (77 children) | Copy Link

This sub is really starting to drop from an actual pussy pass sub to a women hating incel sub. Theres nothing PPD about this article. Nothing. This lady was attacked by a mentally ill man. The men on the tube with her shouldve helped her. They are cowards. Shes absolutely right. Whether they are white or not doesnt matter. Theres plenty of witnesses. They would not have been arrested for a hate crime. It doesnt make her a damsel in distress. She was a smaller person being attacked by a much larger, stronger person for no reason, and she needed help. And the men on the line did nothing.

You can sit here and crack jokes about her all you want. But not being able to get laid so you talk shit on women doesnt make you more of a man. Defending this kind of shit makes you a fucking pussy just like those guys were. Just like the scumbag pussies 50 years ago that allowed Kitty Genovese to be raped and murdered while screaming for help because they didnt want to get involved. Its disgusting.

Take your fucking incel tears somewhere else.

You sound a little sexist.....

So should two woman help a man if a mentally ill woman is attacking him?

[–]JesterNil[S] 29 points30 points31 points 8 years ago (37 children) | Copy Link

You seem....really confused.

[–]haircutcel 26 points27 points28 points 8 years ago (5 children) | Copy Link

Incel is just the new buzzword to describe people who post content they don’t like

[–]JesterNil[S] 20 points21 points22 points 8 years ago (4 children) | Copy Link

It’s a pretty shit one too. It’s easily disproved. I’m married and have a daughter lmao

[–][deleted] 21 points22 points23 points 8 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

I think it’s hysterical that’s their go to buzzword.

“Omg you guys are all just virgins”.....!

[–]JesterNil[S] 11 points12 points13 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

We warned them that “racist” had lost all meaning. They still couldn’t help themselves. This new word they picked to get out of any argument is even sillier tbh.

[–]MutinyGMV 1 point2 points3 points 8 years ago* (0 children) | Copy Link

It's the goto insult on reddit when they can't argue about facts, like the cunt who started this thread. He/she just throws blanket insults about some imaginary lack of sexual prowess because they know defending the bitch in the article is a losing battle lol.

Even if that whole paragraph they wrote was true, it doesn't make anyone's statements here WRONG. That's the most important part. I don't give a fuck what you call me, at the end of your whining I'm still right.

[–]TripleSkeet 0 points1 point2 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Because incels hate women. And I cant think of any other reason to show such hate for aa woman that was attacked for absolutely nothing, unless youre just mad that she called out two white guys as being pussies for it. Which still confuses me on why you would think she was in the wrong in any way. People keep saying shit like she deserved it or she got what she had coming yet not one guy in here can tell me why. Why did this woman deserve to be attacked by a larger man where nobody else would step in to help? Why?

[–]mightygooch7 points 8 years ago* [recovered] (1 child) | Copy Link

The Kitty Genovese story has been debunked. Michael from vsauce even talked about it in the youtube red series "mindfield". The story was circulated by police to make up for their poor response time to the scene of the crime. The incident is an example of information cascade rather than bystander effect. https://www.citylab.com/equity/2015/08/the-murder-of-kitty-genovese-and-the-myth-of-the-heartless-city/400622/

[–]TripleSkeet 0 points1 point2 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Good article. Very informative. But while it wasnt 37 the article actually mentions a half dozen eyewitnesses "that they could use" which means there was a minimum of 6 that didnt intervene. They also mention some people didnt intervene because they thought it was a lovers quarrel. So there were some people that witnessed it and didnt help. But besides that case, theres dozens of videos on sites like Worldstar Hip Hop of people being brutally assaulted in front of others while they stand by and do nothing. Its apathy at its best, cowardice at its worst.

[–]FridKun 19 points20 points21 points 8 years ago (12 children) | Copy Link

mentally ill man

no.

They would not have been arrested for a hate crime.

You are not very familiar with current state of england.

for no reason

I would like a proof of that. She looks like a person who would attack someone and then play a victim.

[+]TripleSkeet -7 points-6 points-5 points 8 years ago (11 children) | Copy Link

She doesnt have to prove anything to you. The story is what it is. There are other witnesses, she wasnt alone. Familiar or not, they arent going to arrest people for a hate crime for defending this woman, youre spouting racist propaganda bullshit. And yea, according to her description the guy was mentally ill. Normal people dont just walk up to others on public transit and start screaming and assaulting them. It just kills you to see a person with a vagina actually have valid points huh?

[–]JesterNil[S] 18 points19 points20 points 8 years ago (7 children) | Copy Link

You have like, accidentally stumbled into the real issue here. Animals do that kind of thing, not people.

[–]Arch-username -4 points-3 points-2 points 8 years ago (6 children) | Copy Link

Oh I get it. He was brown. He's an animal. Your fear of non-whites and females is pitiful. This sub has turned to shit because of weakling little cunts like you.

[–]JesterNil[S] 7 points8 points9 points 8 years ago (5 children) | Copy Link

You’re the one who brought race into, not me kiddo. “Racist” means absolutely nothing, you libtards completely deluded it. As for your last point, sorry......I can’t hear you over the sound of all my war medals 👍🏻

[–]JesterNil[S] 1 point2 points3 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Yeah good call. They’re out in force today lol

[–]Arch-username -1 points0 points1 point 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Paras/SAS. Falklands, Belfast, Kuwait. Don't remember anyone in the Regiment being scared of women or brown people. Still, you Yanks work at a lower level don't you? Internet soldiering is easy isn't it? Easier at least than believing someone with your mental fragility could hack it in any recon force, even an American one.

[–]FridKun 11 points12 points13 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

She doesnt have to prove anything to you.

Neither I have to believe her.

according to her description the guy was mentally ill.

it's generic liberal BS defending "marginalized groups" commiting crimes.

Well Im assuming the other witnesses were also female. If thats the case they arent much help anyway. Im assuming those 2 guys she singled out were the only other males on the tube. If so, they deserve to be singled out.

[–]rarebat 2 points3 points4 points 8 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

She is defending the violent man who attacked her while berating the peaceful men who didn't. She is also being sexist, racist and hypocritical. That's what people here are reacting to, rather than "celebrating assault" as you claim. Are you brave enough to examine your own biases?

[–]TripleSkeet 0 points1 point2 points 8 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Was she really defending him? All she said was he was obviously mentally ill, which he sounds based on the story. I mean crazy people can be dangerous too. Saying he was mentally ill isnt exactly defending him.

[–]rarebat 2 points3 points4 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

She is showing sympathy and understanding of his mental illness, which is a noble thing to do. It's a shame she can't extend her sympathy to the innocent people who did not attack her.

She is rightly angry about being attacked, but that anger has nowhere to go because of the obvious illness of her attacker. So she lashes out at the easiest target who no-one will defend. It is completely unfair to those peaceful men, and the bigoted way she did it says a lot about her existing biases.

To instantly label people who object to this behaviour "incels" isn't too impressive.

[–]Razzal 5 points6 points7 points 8 years ago* (2 children) | Copy Link

While I do agree this does not really belong here, it is stupid to think that a random person in public has a responsibility to defend a stranger. People are so willing to offer up someone else's well-being when it costs them nothing.

[–]reidhershl 1 point2 points3 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Yet reddit condemns similar shit happening in China.

[–]TripleSkeet -2 points-1 points0 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

The responsibility? Maybe not. But I cant help but think lesser of a person that doesnt try to help another. Im not a faan of cowaardice, even if it is the best form of self preservation.

[–]FannyPackConnoisseur -2 points-1 points0 points 8 years ago* (0 children) | Copy Link

This place is such a red pill, incel stronghold I can smell the musky fedora and Mt dew from here. Im actually more sad for the guys on here than anything. It takes a tremendous amount of hurt to embrace some of the logic I'm seeing on this sub.

[–]fefuts -4 points-3 points-2 points 8 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Man... thanks. I thought I was the only one reading it that way. I got crazy downvoted for not hating that lady because she expected people to help people, disregarding the genre, but because the attacked is weaker than the attacker. Funny thing is that a bunch of comments says “fuck that racist bitch” but a lot of people agree on calling racist slurs the attacker, who seems not to be very well in his head.

[–]TripleSkeet -1 points0 points1 point 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Good to see another sane person in here. I dont know how shes racist. All she did was describe the attacker and describe the people that refused to help. I dont get it.
