You should have brought up post nut clarity to develop your theme more. Sex is one of those weird things that can be dull at times and transcendent at others. I get saying "you are just under the influence of brain chemicals", but that doesn't mean some of the experiences you have, and their intensity, aren't valid. You have shared something, to a greater or lesser degree, with another person. That's not necessarily trivial. It could be viewed as a radical kind of acceptance of another person, or it could be a perfunctory act. Like other forms of communication, it can convey a lot or nothing.

Not sure I agree or fully understand this part of your post. You don't say till death do us part for sex. You do it for love. If you're doing it for sex, it's going to be one painful journey and a lie.

By the point where people make the commitment, the sex is a by-product of the full relationship where both parties have agreed to take things further and to get married and have kids possibly. Unfortunately it reads like someone who doesn't have much experience with this field.

If you hold this view about sex (that it's stupid), you're on a slippery slope to saying most human experiences are stupid. This just isn't a human way to think.

For example, by your reasoning: eating steak and lobster (or whatever your favorite food) is stupid. Besides it tasting good, you would have little interest in it. You could instead just eat oatmeal and take multivitamins.

Or, listening to (insert your favorite music) is stupid: besides it bringing you some joy...well, without the joy it's just sounds in the air.

Or, spraying on your favorite perfume is stupid: besides the perfume smelling good and bringing olfactory euphoria, it's just stink molecules in the air.

Your statement that sex is kind of stupid would make sense if it were androids talking about their sex lives. But, if you're talking about the human experience, your statement is kind of stupid.

i don't believe men are a slave to their biology; that's a cop out. men are a slave to socialisation which has made them believe their comfort and security lies in women - that women exist for that reason, to be the carers of them. they certainly don't look to men for that, which is why so many are friendless and their dominant focus is women who can fulfill that need. many men don't know how to connect with women tho except through sex, so that's why they chase it specifically.

Without having your hunger satiated when you eat, you probably would have no interest in food. So why even eat? Let's just put starvation to the side for a second and look at it objectively.

If it weren't for that pesky biological programming that makes you get tired, you probably wouldn't need to sleep. So what's the point in sleeping?

You bring up love. But doesn't love have a lot to do with serotonin and oxytocin pathways? If we didn't have those parts of our brain, we wouldn't feel love in the way we do. I mean when it comes down to it, everything in life is pretty stupid and pointless, if that’s how you look at it. Sex in itself isn’t any more “stupid” than anything else. That’s how we reproduce, with a bonus of (hopefully) being enjoyable and intimate.

Now the stupid part is the way some men get about sex. They attach way too much value to it and let their self-worth get wrapped up in it, and it becomes some weird status and control game rather than a pleasurable experience or a way to make babies. Like if you read how some pickup artists talk about sex, you’ll be left wondering if they even enjoy it or if it’s just the notches on the bedpost making them feel better about themselves. Or how some men are totally obsessed and emotional about how their girlfriend won’t let them stick their peepee where she poops from, or take an ice bath and pretend to be dead while he wears a clown suit and slaps her in the face with a fresh-caught salmon. Because surely, she did all that with Chad in college. That is when people (usually men) get stupid about sex, imo.

You don’t have to do what’s best for your life and happiness. You can suffer and die instead. But, if you can choose to do so and not if you can’t, you do have to choose to pursue romance with someone who shares your highest values for what’s best for your life and happiness.

If this is how you personally feel? Cause maybe you're asexual, people who are ace have little to no interest in sex. And that's completely valid.

But man...for me, sex is the best. It's fun, it's pleasurable, it's a hell of a workout, and it's often a key way to connect with my partner. If I'm having a bad day, sex makes it better. If I'm feeling sad, sex cheers me up. If I'm having a great day, sex is the best way to end it. Hell, nothing else to do? Sex!

And trying to say something like "take away the chemicals that are tied to pleasure and sex isn't that big of a deal" is sort of silly. Take away what makes food tasty and eating is just for survival. Take away joy or creativity and there's no point in making art. If winning didn't feel good, we wouldn't compete. Yes, take away a key component of something and that thing is no longer whatever it was.
