I’ve been wondering what the dating scene, various men’s issues etc would look like if porn wasn’t an easily accessible as it is today.

Let’s say if we took it back to 80s where they only had saucy magazines and if you wanted to watch a video you’d have to go into a store and buy it, no OF, nothing free, no porn depicting violence or easily accessible.

My thoughts are:

  • men would have fewer insecurities, so many’s mens insecurities come from seeing porn stars way better endowed and don’t realise that what they’re packing is perfectly fine. Women are also made to be insecure only seeing ‘perfect’ bodies and thinking they’re ugly/wrong for not looking the women who literally get naked for a living.

  • less expectations around sex, there’s so many studies about men being desensitised by porn and needing something more and more extreme. A lot of women also feel they need to be into very rough sex in order to be ‘good’ in bed. Vanilla sex doesn’t seem to do it for a lot of people anymore.

No k*nk shaming btw, whatever floats your boat!

A couple of my male friends said they’ve stopped watching porn, or the porn they now watch is very infrequent and pretty vanilla and they say it’s hugely improved their mental health. How has porn impacted your life, if at all?

Some studies I found interesting:
