Super common in low income areas. My job brings me into contact with a lot of them. I couldn’t fathom the actual stats, but the majority I’ve encountered are women.

They’re very common in the hood. People who just got out of prison are especially like this if they don’t have family or their family cut them off.

Its pretty common. You should really think of it as any situation where a woman puts more money into the relationship than the man, then you'll see how common it is.

And you'll notice the vast majority of these men are desirable, obviously.

i don’t know people who are “hobosexual” in that they would be literally homeless, but i do know people who live 10x more comfortably than they would be able to on their own because of their partner. i think that is pretty common.

I think it’s more common to go into a relationship honestly but stay in a dead relationship after losing feelings out of convenience. I have a female friend who’s been doing this for about 3 years now. She lives with her boyfriend’s parents but cheats all the time and openly admits to not being into her bf anymore.

As a social worker, I have seen this a lot. It happens with both genders, but mostly men who are in and out of prison and have no stable income.

This world is depressing. I can see this happening for sure. There is also the mentality some get that they can’t break up because they can’t afford to live separately which seems kind of similar, and is probably more common.

I have only met like 1 person who lived in public housing but she attracted the lowest user men you can think of. Mental health issues abound, for sure.

Very common especially in countries that only give housing to people on welfare if they have children.

Where I live a single mom collecting welfare was not allowed to live with a guy, technically he was not allowed to stay over. So their boyfriends would live with them but keep positions out of the house in case their worker came by.

I'm basing my knowledge on the '80-'90s and do not know the rules now, they are different of course depending on your location.

We have about 400 truly homeless people where I live today , but those numbers would be much larger if couch surfing/girlfriends homes were included.

I'm sure the women would rather meet a guy with a stable life and job instead, but again like attracts like.

I think it's only common in poor communities. Government housing is only given to women. So when you see a grown man living there, he's living in a woman's apartment.

It also says a lot about the women that only attract those kinds of men.

It's extremely common.A lot of men intentionally target single moms for this reason.They assume they are more desperate and easier.Same with fat women.

Some hobosexuals also go after successful and 'independent' women to have somewhere to stay.

Female hobosexuals exist as well but in some cases they are basically just your typical sugar baby.

A lot of people can't afford to pay bills alone and either got bad credit or a criminal record so screwing for a place to stay is the next best option especially if a family member won't let you stay with them.

In my younger years, it was pretty common for single moms on welfare to have a live-in boyfriend flying under radar. Usually he didn't work, and just lived off her welfare check, but sometimes he had a car, and at the very least provided protection and occasional childcare as well as serving up the D.

I imagine most of these guys would have been homeless, or living with Mommy and Daddy, otherwise.

Well, in ancient times, people generally lived with their parents and/or partner. And a big part about being a partner was contributing to the household.

Nowadays, it's theoretically possible for every adult to live by themselves, which only adds contrast to the hobosexuals who live like ancient people.

In the UK, it's definitely more associated with men, as single mothers here have access to community (council) housing.

Having lived in an area that had plenty of single mothers in community (council) housing, this was almost the norm for their relationships.

I worked with one guy, who actually built up a nice real estate portfolio doing this.

Of course some will for example prefer a partner with their own place rather than someone who lives with his parents or is renting a small room with three other dudes; yet there must be either initial attraction or there should be much more than just a place to live in order to attract pure gold diggers. Because if a woman is ready to (effectively) sell herself to have a roof and share the bed with someone she does not desire she might as well aim higher and find a guy with deep pocket, not only a house or apartment.
