When I saw this lady’s videos on my TikTok it really rubbed me the wrong way. I think it’s important to teach kids things like emotional intelligence and basic house tasks for them to be functional adults, regardless of their sex. But she’s not doing that for her boys, she’s doing that thinking on the comfort of an hypothetical future girlfriend.

She’s teaching them the world revolves around women, and that women should be catered to, and they should live thinking about women before themselves. This might not be her intention but it is what she is doing anyway, without realizing or caring about the consequences of this to her own sons.

Teaching a kid to be able to look after himself, have empathy, deal with his feelings constructively are all laudable efforts. Teaching him these things explicitly for the benefit of a hypothetical future wife rather than for him to be a well rounded human being is sick.

If it wasn't so disgustingly sexist there is a lot of good there. We all need to teach our sons to cook clean and care for the mental and physical health. So they don't go looking for a woman to do those things for them and they end up with some leach who is using them instead of loving them. Preparing a boy to be a good husband is not a bad thing, really. Boys SHOULD be taught proper skin treatment, how to clean up, and all of that, and the whole "write down your feelings so you can figure out how to deal with them" isn't the worst plan I've ever seen for teaching a young man to understand himself. It's an action oriented approach that might help teach him some of the life lessons he needs.

Hopefully, he is being taught appropriate skin care for men, appropriate ways to express emotions beyond just writing them down, how to properly dress himself, and so on as well.

Honestly, it's good for young men to be actually raised and taught how to live independently rather than ignored, which most mothers seem to do.

The criticism I have is it's couched in terms of "You do this for WOMEN, not because it's good for you as a person." And it's gonna be all taught in terms of "act like a woman and you'll be happy" rather than taught in a way that a boy will accept.
