My girlfriend always put up a bit of make-up in the past. Once we were closer friends (before dating) we came to the topic of make-up. I told her I personally think make-up only looks good when it's only a small amount and no make-up makes a person look even better, since it's natural. (Generally I'm more attracted to full natural looking people) Once we started dating and always complimenting her when she has no make-up, she started to stop using make-up and ever since thanked me for accepting her natural looks and the money she saves

Naturally MRAs support women who want to choose their own style. We support freedom for men and women. However, we reject the absurd notation of the Patriarchy controlling all society.

Women have always dominated the control of fashion for men, but particularly for women. Its almost always women who judge other women on makeup, fashion, and styles. Just look who buys fashion magazines and the fashions. Although feminists claim they want to inspire women to be 'strong' and 'independent', in reality they constantly paint women as victims . So deny the colossal contributions women have made, and continue make in society. This is dishonest and degrading to both men and women. Everyone knows that women have much more choice in office fashion than men. 3/4 of all clothes are made for women because women love fashions. I'm not complaining about that, but feminists need to stop blaming men for actions of women.

This reminds me of way back when Gloria Steinem was the face of women's lib, we had the National Organization of Women, and there was Ms Magazine. Was that second wave feminism?

Back then they understood that by wearing sexy clothes and makeup they were sexualizing themselves and discouraged it. There was even a "burn your bra" movement.

there was a study where they collected data on when a male and female news anchor would come on air wearing the same thing. When the man would wear the same suit, no one would complain. When the woman would wear the same clothes people would call in and complain. Those people were women. Yet some how this is mens fault.

What's wild is she'll say "you don't know what it's like to be a woman" while, in the same breathe, say she knows exactly what men go through and how it's so much easier.

In reality it's one of those: Grass is always greener.

It only appears easier because we've gone through it for decades and when women go through it once time it's an atrocity to them. They simply aren't used to it.

I have seen men with preferences though. I've never heard a man say "I'm not going out if you're not going to put on makeup" but I have heard them say "you look prettier with X kind of makeup".

We see this regularly - someone is mad about a thing and they take it out on the person easiest to take it out on. Managers take it out on the more timid employees. Women take it out on men.

As others have said - women are in competition in other women.

My wife, for example, looks, to be frank, fairly unattractive with makeup. I'd rather her raw dog it. But if, for whatever reason, she wants to wear makeup I simply don't say anything because I don't care. Generally works out for me because she doesn't have to spend an hour putting on makeup. At most she worries about her hair. So from "let's go" to actually going - it's at most 15 minutes.

this is a thing that I, as a woman, struggle to comprehend about the culture. When women or anyone say to me: ''it sucks that women have to wear make up" I say ''but we don't. Unless you're like a model or an actress, you don't have to. No one is going to force you to wear make up.'' and then they say ''well yeah but if we don't wear makeup, men will criticize us.'' And I say "well, who cares what men think? They can die mad about it, right?" This is also my response when people talk about the burden of using more expensive products marketed toward women, wearing women's clothing, the high cost of women's undergarments, etc. You don't HAVE to do any of that. You can wear men's clothes. You can wear men's underwear. You can wear old spice deodorant and wash your hair with men's shampoo. You can even get a buzz cut. No one can stop you. Men might not like it. But isn't the whole idea of feminism that we should not care all that much what men say?

Most men I know have actually expressed they don’t prefer makeup, except maybe for special occasions. I really don’t think it’s men imposing this. I think it’s about women feeling good about themselves, and being competitive with other women.

But had you questioned a GF about dressing up sexy when going out without you, she'd scream at you about your male ego, and how women dress up for THEMSELVES, NOT for men.... Then when you ask why you should be the one always paying for dates, she'll switch it up to "I spend all this time and money on makeup and clothes to look good for you, THAT'S why you should pay". It's a no win argument, just a circular logic weapon.

Its all on women. Same thing about shoes. I had some couples over and the women were complaining about how easy it was for guys because they didn’t have to wear high heels or makeup. All of the guys agreed that they didn’t give a fuck about either and the women were wearing it to impress each other not the men.

Mostly women push other women to wear make up.

To be honest i find almost all makeup pretty ugly. I rather have a girl with a face filled with freckles. Then a caked-up doll look.

For me just more a turn of then on.

But i do get that men get attracted to a image of a women. Like if the first bunch of months you only see her always with a ton of make up on. You get attracted to that look of a women.

But 2 years or more in the relationship they get angry when yea state you like them more with makeup cause that's the vision of her you got attracted too.

But i dont give a damn about make up. I would much prefer village girls cause they just dont ware very little or not at all have make up on.

Wail in the more big city. Girls cake that shit on. Like they trying to plaster a wall. And i just always have found it so ugly. And maybe some guys love that shit. But most people i know kinda just see it as ugly.

But do go for those girls. Cause they seen them as easy targets to sleep easily with. Wail i never was into that.

But it is how i hear guys talk and think about makeup.

So I think it's a lot more of a push on women on each other. Then it is men giveing a damn about it.

Talking to your neighbor about makeup is so vapid. I don’t even understand what this has to do with men’s rights. Different religions and social norms have their own opinions on makeup, but if you really want to wear it, no one’s stopping you. If you don’t want to, no one’s stopping you. What if it’s your dream to be a makeup artist? What if you love doing costume makeup? What if you have sensitive skin or are vegan? Wearing makeup is a personal choice that’s literally meaningless at the end of the day when you sleep barefaced

They can choose to not wear make-up and have a men’s haircut and reject epilation. The only side-effect is that they will lose their privileges as women (getting smiles, acceptance, preferential treatment) and they will be as invisible as a man. Wonder why they don’t?
