I'd say men (and women) generally overestimate the attractiveness of women, which in a roundabout way amounts to the same outcome. I agree that (some) men would be better off with more self confidence.

However if you look at facial attractiveness ratings women really do find average men ugly, it's not just a problem of self confidence but that women have very harsh ratings for men and more positive ratings for women (and men largely mirror this rating other men lower and women higher on average).

If anything I’m pretty sure the research says men over estimate their attractiveness. So if anything is ugly men are even uglier than we first believed

I said in a previous discussion. I rate myself 2 out of 10. The r/truerateme gave me 4.5-5 out of 9.

I put a picture of mine on an online AI which doesn't ask any email address (looks.io does). It gave me an 8 out of 10 (minimum was 6.5 out of 10). Seriously, I have never been called cute or attractive by anyone but I am starting to doubt the AI.

Yeah this makes sense, very few people, men are included are actually ugly. I remember watching an incel documentary and thought most of the guys shown were fairly good looking so it seemed weird that they had issues.

I’d say most men are just average (around 5 foot 9, don’t workout consistently, decent to poor hygiene, skin and hair), so they just need to work on self-improving a lot… but don’t want to because they’re lazy and or don’t think they need to.

The reality is far too many men just take life for granted, and go along with their lives just getting by, with very minimal effort.

Majority of men sabotage themselves by not taking care of themselves. Fixing teeth, haircut, losing weight and working on your style can be helpful(not a silver bullet though).

The more I think about it, I probably know about an equal number of men who overestimate and underestimate their attractiveness. I don’t think there’s a strong trend one way or the other.

I’ve met some delulu mid men who have thought they’re super attractive before. These guys usually give off narcissist vibes. I’ve also met men who actually are attractive and think they’re average. Depends on the man, some underrate and some overrate.

Think of the average PPD poster: they sound defeated, have low self esteem, believe themselves to be bottom of the barrel in terms of worth and value. They believe they are too ugly, too short, too poor, too autistic, etc. If this was war and they were soldiers, those guys would have waived a white flag before they were even given uniforms and weapons.

Now you tell me something. Throughout human history, women have evolved to sense how a man feels about himself, because that was the only true indicator of a man's real status, because social status can certainly be faked. So when a woman senses the above about a man, and make no mistake, women can sense his low self worth through his body language and behavioral clues, why on god's green earth would she be attracted to someone like that?

True! I follow a lot of ‘looks advice’ subreddits and so many of the guys that post on there are literally hot, but they think they’re below average.

Lol I’m super attractive to most girls. I just bumped into two 21 and 25 year old girls with some balding uncle at some restaurant. They basically ignored the uncle and kept talking to me. One of them was actually a girl I flaked on for dinner with tonight.
