Of the many sickening circlejerky things Reddit does, the impulsion to start off every post with "As a __________" is one of the more irritating ones.

Most of the piss off, truthfully, is that this is fine if you're making it known you actually have some kind of expertise that would benefit the discussion. If I start a thread looking for help on some problem I'm having with the wall outlets in my house, and you start your post with "As an electrical engineer...", excellent. I'm talking to someone who is qualified to help me.

"As a woman..." or "As a man..." is just bullshit. I'm not picking on girls, there's plenty of men who do the same thing. Anything you just happened to be (like a man or a woman or a lesbian or a brown-haired person or a Sagittarius) is not really something you should be championing. More to the point, neither is anything you can just say you are without having to earn any kind of accreditation. "As a liberal/As a conservative/As a feminist/As a fan/blah blah blah".

It's not the greatest crime but it does reveal a few flaws. "As a white middle-class liberal feminist I agree with you". So, if you were a black, low-class conservative good person, my points wouldn't be agreeable? And here I was thinking that an opinion was an opinion, full of merit or full of shit all on it's own, context-dependent on the circumstances at hand, not the speaker or the listener's personal biases, or any dumb shit they believe in the hopes of being a part of a group.

Yes.

This sub is a male space. That is why we have the RPW sub. Women who enter male spaces 99% of the time will expect their woman status to mean something. Whether it's attention, preferential treatment or the inane ego boost of "being in the boys club", it always has to be relevant that they are women. This modus operandi is a knee-jerk reaction and it's not some woman conspiracy or some silly shit, they don't accommodate to the environment, they expect the enviroment to accommodate them.

This is why this sub needs to stay male only. Even the least amount of female attention whoring changes the social dynamic of any medium. Also, what would they contribute ? They validate TRP with their actions, their words would be irrelevant here.

And all the cunty shills "pushing leniency" in this thread, I'm onto you, worms.

Same questions pop up in both TRP and Askmen (except for the more super beta questions or women posting questions about their men). Askmen consistently has terrible answers comparatively. Whats the difference?

Its the women! By their being allowed to be present and PERVASIVE in AskMen, it obviously became a white knighting mechanism.

Though sometimes you'll find a good answer in there, full of TRP wisdom, it will never be the top voted answer.

It seemed a bit brutal at first but the truth is that tolerance is a slippery slope. We allow women and feminized males to speak here, but we have to keep it on a short leash otherwise they'll overrun this sub. /r/menasrights and /r/askmen are great examples of what happens when too many women are tolerated in these male spaces. The spaces slowly become female spaces.

I hate it when people think that when they associate with a group that generally holds a certain position on a subject and they differ from that opinion, it somehow makes them MORE credible. Here are some common examples on this site and elsewhere of what I'm talking about:

"As a 49ers fan, I think the Seahawks are the best NFL team"

"As a Christian, I think the government should provide free contraception."

"As a Republican, I think the current health care bill should be passed."

"As a black man, I think that joke people are saying is racist, is actually pretty funny."

"As a woman, I think this part of RP theory is true."

Just because you should believe something based on the groups you associate with, and don't believe it, doesn't make your opinion more credible.

What this means isn't literally, no females browse the internet, it means that women don't get the values of their opinions skewed like they do in real life. Saying "As a female..." is a form of trying to get that back. So, we say "there are no women on the internet" to remind women that in text, your opinion is only as valuable as the words it's composed of, and if you say something idiotic, you will be treated like an idiot.
