With Online Dating, women often will only swipe right on men who are "their type". If she comes across 100 profiles, and she is attracted to 10 of them, she will only swipe right on 2 of them because of those 10, only 2 are "her type".

Yet, women will so often meet a guy in person who is "not their usual type", but his personality matches what she is looking for and she finds him attractive enough, and she will date/sleep with him. In my last relationship, she told me several times that I wasn't her type and in the past she has only dated tall guys who were her type, but she gave me a chance because of my confidence and personality, and I won her over.

If you "approach" 100 attractive women in OLD, you might only be "the type" of 5 of those women. You then have to be lucky enough for your profile to rise to the top of their stack while they're on the app, and then they have to swipe right on you based on both your looks (just cause you're her type doesn't mean she finds you attractive) and your profile descriptions, and you need to be "tall enough" for them. Then to date her, once you meet you need to also have a personality match/chemistry. If you swipe right on 100 women that you find truly attractive/would marry based on looks alone, I'd put the odds of dating one of those 100 women at way less than 1%. Most men need to swipe right on hundreds of women (including swiping right on women they wouldn't marry based on looks) just to get a date.

If you approach those same exact 100 attractive single women in person, you might have a "personality match" with 25 of those women, and if you have confidence she will give you a chance. Her "type" no longer matters. Of those 25 women who you have a personality match with, maybe 5 of them will find you attractive (physically attractive enough + good enough personality + good enough job and status).

By focusing on approaching women in real life, your odds of dating a woman you are attracted to go from less than 0.25% , to 5%.

These are all random odds that I just made up, but it proves the point.

Focus on meeting women in person, especially at venues where you would inherently share things in common with anyone you meet, and "the numbers game" has much, much higher odds.
