That's my child so I will give her the benefit of the doubt. Unless I have a strong reason to not believe her, like she has been a pathological liar growing up or I can sense something is off. If that's the case, I still wouldn't flat out accuse her of lying about it on the off change my judgment is wrong.
I would push her to pursue a criminal case and pay for the legal fees and also any therapy she would need as a result from it. If she doesn't want to do any of that then 🤷‍♂️. I prob wouldn't say anything publicly though.

It's a little hard for me to imagine the situation for my daughter, but I have a younger sister with a big age difference and a lot of nieces, so I'll take this situation.

By default, I would believe them, because I know their personalities well enough to evaluate whether they are lying or not. But I would still try to collect more evidence of what happened, trying not to cause even more trauma to the victims due to pressure on my part.

2.If all this is true and my loved ones were indeed subjected to SA, then I will have two options. I will of course support the victim in everything and will keep her safe.

And there are two options for my actions against the rapist:

-if what happened really SA is a full-fledged rape and infliction of mental and physical trauma on my loved ones, then I will support them physically, financially and if they want to try to legally resolve the case in court.

-if the victim was subject to SA but does not want to press charges in court, then I will provide all my moral and financial support to the victim, but I will also secondary try to cause maximum damage to the rapist (depending on the severity of SA, from simply disseminating information about the rapist or to physical actions against the rapist), and at the same time my loved ones should not know anything about this so that it does not cause them harm.

Unless she was a known pathological liar, I would believe her.
Even if I doubted her, I'd still stand by her externally, because families stick together.

It would depend on my daughter, who she was, and what her history of behavior was.

I have an actual real-life version I can use, though: I grew up with a sister who was borderline; she lied constantly and often changed her story based on what affect she wanted to have on people. She had no conscience about who she hurt.

She's also incredibly reckless, naïve and trusting of new people.

She's said she's been raped before.

The thing is - it's entirely possible it's true it happened. She's careless and often puts herself in dangerous situations, so it's entirely possible she's been hurt by someone she thought she could trust.

But it's also entirely possible she's making it up because she's bored.

What do I do about it? If she wanted to pursue a trial, I'd have supported her. But she didn't want to pursue any legal action - so instead, I excused myself and left, because it's dangerous to give her too much sympathy, or else she keeps wanting more.

That's the full amount of "support" she received, because of her past history - I listened when she told me about it, asked if she intended to press charges, then I left.

Based on the image of the daughter I have in my head I would fully support them. But we don't live in the idealistic world, so It is going to be highly dependent on their personality and past actions.

If my daughter accused some celebrity she’s never met before of SAing her, then probably not.

Otherwise yes. I’ll believe her and give her all the support she needs, including paying for counselling etc.

I don’t need to pay for legal services, if she wants to pursue legal action then SA is a criminal offence and the state will prosecute if there is sufficient evidence. I literally cannot pay the prosecutor because that is corruption and is illegal.

I don't have a daughter (I have a son), but if I did, I would believe her, since I would have taught her to be an honest and upright person, and my wife would have too.

Women who say that they would believe their son's accuser over their own son are admitting that they suck at instilling values in even their own children.

I'd definitely outwardly support her and pay her legal services. I'd also remind myself that I don't know the future, I don't know what happened, I don't know everything and anything is possible. But I also don't have daughter or a kid right now, and my guess is that really being in that situation is going to be whole lot different than I imagine it to be here.

Very, very unhappy. Because either my daughter is a victim of a very bad crime, or she is a liar who accuses someone of committing a very bad crime, and in both cases, it is very sad for a parent.

Their history of lying, and also an analysis of the information I have about the circumstances.

I don't know. It all depends on 1 and a series of situations, the question is too abstract and it would take too long to answer. My actions could range from disowning her as a daughter, to taking the law into my own hands against the accused.

I would fully believe and support my daughter but want any punishment that he gets to be with strong evidence. I will hate his guts regardless but I can hate someone and think they're entitled to fair due process.

The reality is that DAs have decided that when it comes to crimes that are hard to prove, we must prosecute with much less evidence for these crimes, which is why we have a massive false accusation epidemic. There are middle ground solutions for cases where a rape is alleged but has poor evidence. For instance, no contact orders or restraining orders.

We have a two tiered system for evidence where crimes that beget physical evidence get a fair trial and those that don't become a shouting match determined by who the jury believes.

Conflicted unless I have proofs suggesting otherwise, I can't judge. The factors deciding the judgement would be proofs like is she entitled? what her friends have to say? Does she lie to get what she wants? Her body language would also tell if she is lying or was assaulted, I know how trauma looks like.
