We all know that men wouldn't dare hold on their virginity even if it cost them their own lives, they would accept any offer.

Isn't that precisely the reason why male virginity is demonized in the first place? There's an assumption that most men are primarily motivated by sex. If all men are primarily motivated by sex, men that aren't successful at losing their virginity have something wrong with them.

The reason why this doesn't make sense is because there is a legitimate differential in how much each gender values sex. I'm not saying this is how it should be, but it's definitely how it is.

I was a late bloomer and every women I ever had romantic reciprocation from rejected me as soon as they learned I was a virgin. Like complete shift in behavior. Sorry lady, but my lived experience is that women treat you sub human. It didn't matter the amazing dates we had, it didn't matter that we talked all night every night. It didn't matter. Because as soon as they heard still a virgin they all left. This wasn't just one or two experiences. This was almost a dozen before I learned i had to lie.

I have never seen a woman say they wanted a virgin. Some say they don't care. Most are turned off by it. Especially as you get older. Society does put value on men that can get sex. So if you can't you are seen as a loser.

There are billions of women on the planet. The relevant question is not whether a woman exists whose first choice in a partner would be a male virgin (particularly at an older age), but rather what percentage of women this would be globally, or at least in the Western world where most people on this sub seem to be from.

Additionally, it would be interesting to understand if particular characteristics of a person make them more likely to want a virgin.

That’s really all there is we can say for sure without more data and studies on female preferences on this area.

Anecdotally, I live in the UK and just turned 30, but have always been extremely social and extroverted. Throughout my teenage years, 20’s and even now, I regularly go out to bars and clubbing, and have countless male and female friends.

Full disclosure, I am a virgin myself, but I’m pretty open about it to my friends. On the whole, the vast majority of my female friends and girls I’ve met randomly have been very kind and understanding about it, but at the same time, they are bewildered.

Perhaps it’s the kind of girls I hang around with, who are very sexually open, confident and outgoing, but most of them quite literally cannot wrap their heads around how a person can remain a virgin into their 30’s.

For them, having sex and relationships is as normal as eating cereal. And I would say that most of the guys I know also find it baffling.

I get the sense that most of the girls I know would definitely not date a guy who was a 30 year old virgin, certainly not as their first choice. Some may be able to look past it if they like you in other ways.

But it certainly comes across as weird to most people I know and although they are generally kind about it, there’s a big difference between that and actually dating you.

Most of my friends, male and female, think I’m a closeted gay at this point and so does my sister :D

Where do you come from OP? Perhaps you have a very different type of friend group or come from a different culture where it is more normal to be sexually inexperienced?

What age demographic are you and did you go clubbing and out to bars much as a young adult?

I think certain subcultures of people will find it virginity more strange than others :)

I take it I'm the only virgin here in their 30s or older. I feel like being a virgin is a blessing in disguise because I'm a homebody introvert and people with outgoing hobbies and social circles are completely exhausting. Even if I didn't have medical issues which discourage me from sexual activity I still would have issues finding women.

About 4 or 5 years ago, I was on the dating app Plenty of Fish. A woman matched me, her bio said something about wanting a hookup. We talked a bit and it was going alright. I mentioned that I'm a virgin and she said that's cool with her.

This is so off base, it must be rage bait. Women want men who other women want. Men who have social proof with other women. That's why women don't want virgins. No woman wants to be the first test case. It would be a form of settling, which we know women don't want to do.

Male virgins past a certain age are failures. That is just a fact. Unless they are implicitly staying virgins for religious or other reasons. Which is fairly rare nowadays.

Now whether women will lose interest upon learning that you are a virgin. Not in my experience. I was a virgin at 19 and there was a ton of women wanting to "teach you how it's done boy". Didn't really seem to deter them all that much. So that much we agree with.

if you are approaching 30 and you are a virgin - a man or a woman - you objectively fucked up, and the reason why I say this is because there is a time for everything. At 30, you've missed the window of opportunity to socialize with a lot of single, available people, you don’t know how you are in a relationship and what you want, and if you are on a date with someone they expect you to be way past your exploration stage.

If I am on a date with someone and they tell me they are a virgin, and they are in their late 20s, it’s a sign that they are undersocialized. This will come with a baggage of weird behaviors, I promise.

I don't think women all care about virginity so much as they care about the baggage attached to it. They're already very picky as it is, and for good reason, so it kind of makes sense that they'd select for a guy who's going to offer them something like sexual satisfaction, as opposed to somebody who they believe can't. Sure, some later-in-life virgins could put in the effort to learn and be good people. But just like many workplaces won't hire someone who has zero experience to speak to what they have to offer, many women aren't interested in gambling with someone who hasn't the experience to know if it'll work out or not.
