How much do/can a woman who says they hate men or complain about men as a whole or say they’re anti “man” actually like or care about their male friends

If she genuinely hates men then chances are she does not have male friends. Like, she may hang out in mixed gender groups, but her actual friends are female. She would consider those men as acquaintances.

I would imagine those who legitimately hate a group do not have friends who are apart of that group. So if a woman legitimately hates men, there probably aren't any men she will be around in a friendship setting, maybe family if she has to.

Now just vent hating, grifting, influencer hating, they probably have close male friends and just don't get what they're doing is idiotic or how it effects others

I don't think very much. I'm cautious of men I don't know, moreso than women I don't know. But I couldn't imagine saying I hate men or complaining as if there is something fundamentally wrong with their gender because it might hurt their feelings. I'm not going to say "don't worry, you're one of the good ones". They don't bitch about women collectively in front of me. I wouldn't be friends with someone who did.

I can know the statistics. I can know common attitudes. But I'd never be anti man because I love the men in my life and really just genuinely want what's best for everyone, whatever that is, with some notable exclusions obviously.

I care a lot about my male friends because they are still human beings at the end of the day. They are deeply flawed, but I don’t see those flaws as being completely their fault. They were born and raised under patriarchal norms and continue to struggle because of that despite having rejected those systems. Those flaws are enough to prevent me from wanting to have any kind of romantic relationship with any of them at any point. But I will still do anything I can to help them out if needed.

Case in point, one of my male friends currently lives with me and I am a caregiver to him. He is unable to work due to end stage renal failure, blindness, and a necrotic wound on his foot. I donated one of my kidneys to him 9 years ago, but it recently failed. He is staunchly leftist but still has a lot of issues stemming from the patriarchal structures he was raised under.

When I first saw this post, I kind of rolled my eyes, as it seemed pretty hyperbolic.

But somewhere in the last bit I was reminded of a post from a friend or friendly acquaintance, talking about how she felt like she was trying to hold two realities in her head at the same time - that she had many lovely men and boys in her life, and that men in a more generic and societal sense were pretty ominous and negative force. (That last bit isn't her words, but my best try and conveying what I remember of the sense of her words. It's something I read in passing.)

And that part I get. I usually try to think mostly in terms of the actual men and boys in my actual life, and the lost souls who post here, and keep, say, politics and such in another box as much as possible as a pro-sanity thing. But I've been somewhat haunted be the sense that Epstein seemed to cater to men in power pretty generically. And while men in power might be more likely to be psychopaths, I'm pretty sure that most of the men who partied with Epstein were not. Do we have any evidence of men saying "no" to him? (Heavens knows I haven't plowed through the files.) How many men would have said no to an invitation to his island, were it presented right? How many would have just not asked questions about the young and pretty girls there? (But would have fucked them if they could?) I suspect that most, even if they were a bit disturbed by things, would have at least not made any waves. And this is just one highly ominous data set among many - the political assaults on women's rights bother me a lot more.

It really compromises their ability to care for their male friends/family. They are often cruel to all the men in their lives, even the ones that bend over backwards to try not to trigger them. It’s incredibly tragic. Women in my community are actively trying to repair the damage hateful women have done, and it’s really sad how badly needed our work is.

Majority of women described as hating men simply engage in basic feminist analysis. I think there’s an issue of gender bias in these discussions where the bar to consider a woman a misandrist is extremely low but a man could literally assault women and men would claim he’s not misogynistic. Your original question isn’t really answerable due to this dynamic.

I partake in some if the male "hate" comedy and media online and irl, and my male friends are fine. Because they understand the type of men I am talking about. I don't always agree, but it is nice to have some outlet for my frustration with dating and the patriarchy without having to police my tone and word choices to make men not feel personally victimized. Because im not trying to complain to men. Im trying to complain to other women who understand and thus I can be a little more crass

Just like when my black friends talk about their frustrations with white people, I understand they mean those white people. I don't feel offended cuz its like, I cannot understand what type of bullshit white people pull on them.

I don't mind that because I get what they mean. When you are opressed by a group of people it can become too difficult to deal with and sometimes we express it in inflammatory ways put of pure emotion and we don't always have the capacity to say "some men" "not all men but these men who do this'

And same with black people. Sometimes they just need to vent about white people and I don't care to police them and say "wait a minute. Its not all white people."

Cuz i know its not all white people. They know its not all white people. But they deal with racism and micro aggressions a lot more than I see it happening. Cuz often times white folk don't do it around other people, so they can feel safe being racist

And thats the same as these sexist men

And my guy friends don't feel insulted when my girl friends and I just vent about men or make jokes.

Like white people can't season their food jokes, but for men.

It is a more complex thing and most of us don't actually hate men

We hate the society in which causes men to act in sexist and harmful and annoying ways to us with 0 to little repercussions.

But sometimes in heated and emotional states that is too much to explain and annunciate.

Like when you stub your toe and go "ouch"

And someone asks if you are ok. You don't have the words to answer cuz you are still in pain. And not answering is considered normal.

In situations where it is us mentally hitting our pinky toes, our words and how we express this pain aren't always going to be well articulated or thought out or gentle or kind because we are at a heightened emotional state

And everyone goes through things like this. Men too

When they go "women like bad guys" "women don't like"

"Why are women like-"

I can assume in good faith yall know not all women are the same. But in those moments of frustration, you aren't thinking about having to preface which type of women you mean and that you don't mean "all women"

Means she doesn't really hate men and just hates the way things are. I can say "I hate men" to really mean "I hate the fact I'm not considered an equal to men" or to say "I'm jealous of men", without actually hating men.

Some women also don't see good men as men, as avocado said. Maybe for them, "real" men means the ones they hate, and the good ones are just males but not men.
