For one, i don't think there is a MALE epidemic as women in increasing numbers are lonely as well. It is a social issue affecting everyone due to recent changes in society and technology over the years. It may be affect some people more than others but that is bigger than gender.

Secondly, people casually make fun of it or weaponize it as people often bring it up when they don't like what a man or a group of men do. "See?!, this is why there is a loneliness epidemic You don't do XYZ. If you did what I want you to do, maybe you'd have somebody" So even if it was a real issue heavily impacting, people made it a meme anyway.

This particular topic isn't the only time things like this happen. Also, im not saying all women or only women do it. Men ALSO make fun of other men and their issues.

I'm not saying men have a heap of valid issues that eclipse everyone elses. I am saying, the way people go about those issues is often dismissive in one way or another. Whether they are valid or not.

I will say though, men also need to put in effort in thoughtfully and reasonably conveying their grievances because even i can acknowledge when some talking points are actually crazy or takes the conversation left.
