What are your thoughts on slut shaming?

Outside of this weird corner of the internet it seems to me that in real life it's actually women who do the most "slut shaming" by insulting each other using words like slut, whore, etc while men just enjoy the easy sex.

The only exception to this is men who can't get laid even from the sluts, hence why more men here don't like them.

In what context, in regards to a non dating scenario, I couldn't care less.

However in terms of relationships, a person can have whatever views they like. If someone rejected or broke up with me because they thought my feet were too big, they can do so.

I don't care what others do with their lives and don't care what judgments people make about it. You're never going to please everyone. So-called "sluts" should be able to sleep around if they want, but they have to accept the possibility that it will result in a smaller portion of men who want relationships with them after that phase is over.

The problem is that women don't want to be judged on ANYTHING!

So judging a woman and saying I don't want to be with you IS shaming.

Men and women are different. Men can have lots of sex with lots of different women without having emotional baggage.

Women usually have sex with lots of different guys BECAUSE she has emotional baggage. They are trying to fill some kind of weird emotional hole or daddy issues or any number of fucked up things.

While not bulletproof, it's a strong indicator that something isn't right. Vet properly.

Sleeping around is risky, that's a fact. I'm just not a fan of that. I really value safety and security a lot. I don't really understand people who take risks for temporary gains like that. I don't want to befriend someone or get to know someone who's just going to make me worry everyday.

If someone makes what I consider to be a bad life decision, I'm going to end up trusting their judgement just a little bit less each time. If that makes me a slut-shamer.... well... I dunno.

I do not understand the concept of slut-shaming as proposed here, but.

To force someone to not wear a certain way is wrong. And to spread lies about someone is also wrong.

But advice the risks about how they wear for certain objectives isn't. Nor your chosen behaviors give you the right to restrict the behavior of others.

Some women think that you should be free to do everything, without consequences.

You can choose to do whatever you want, but there is consequences on real life, namely, people's judgement and behavior. Liking it or not. To oppose how others behave because of your own chosen behavior, is to restrict those other's freedom, in benefit of yours.

Sure, you can correct mistaken supposition of others but you cannot forcibly change peoples behavior just because of your feelings, but you can ask, kindly.

You can ask them to change it, but if they will change is up to them to decide, not you, even less the government.

Example: imagine a man that wears a panda mask all day long, 24/7, he pays his taxes, does his work, does the laundry, amd take a shower, always with this panda mask.

Some people think he is a disgusting mad man, but he ask for them to not judge the book by the cover and he shows he is a normal man like any other... just with a panda mask.

He has all the rights to do it, right? And everyone else has the right to not deal with the guy with a strange, constant panda mask right? None here is right, or wrong, both chose a behavior and acted on it.

Now, people must not lie and say he is mad. As he is perfectly sane (except the panda mask). But if you do not lie nor force him into anything, you are free to not deal with him also.

This is the real world. You have your freedoms, and others have theirs. One should mot affect the other.

That said, no one can shame you for someone you aren't already ashamed of. Treat slut shamers the same way you would treat any asshole, bully, or busybody. Mock and/or ignore. You'll never be able to please everyone. Just do whatever you want and try not to be a dick and you're golden.

I'm against slut-shaming.

Slut-shaming is mostly something women do to each other, to regulate the pussy cartel and keep the market price of sex high. They use it both to increase women's bargaining power vs. men and restrain intrasexual competition over men.

Does that mean men should be absolutely indifferent to partner n-count? No, at least not when there seems to be a correlation between high levels of promiscuity and the propensity to cheat or divorce, and men stand to bear substantial costs from these things. I think if the exit costs men faced in marriage/relationships were a lot lower, there wouldn't be much of a rational reason to care about a partner's n-count however.

So I don't support slut-shaming. Since women do it the most I tend to think of it as a kind of toxic femininity.

It's not about shaming sluts, it's about having a problem with sluts who don't give the men they're currently with the same treatment they gave to men in their past whilst remaining committed. If you are a woman who is/was a slut, give your man the best sex you can give unless he specifically asks you not to. Also, don't be in a relationship with a man whom you are not very sexually attracted to and where he finds you very sexually attractive, unless he doesn't mind getting scraps/low quality sex.

I dont like to use the term slut or whore unless i really do intend to insult someone. I like to say that a person is being "sexually self destructive". The difference to me is that saying slut can be offensive in that "you are bad" kind of way. But saying that someone is being sexually self destructive kinda connotes that they are turning themselves into a victim in a way. That they are in some way inflicting harm or danger unto themselves. But if someone you say that to says "no im not, everything i do is safe sane and consensual" then the issue is resolved. Sex it up! Slut as a term shames you for a number and maybe for your prowess. Sexually self destructive as a term just warns you to take care of yourself. But ofcourse im up for improvement on the idea.

I don't think there's to much slut shaming - I think there's so much relationship-shaming. I've met a lot of girls who feel like if they get in a relationship they're doing something horribly "wrong" and if they want to have kids their's something bad or wrong about them or something. It's absurd.

It's a bad thing and can lead to serious self-esteem damage. There's nothing immoral at all about having a high number of sex partners, though you can't complain if a man isn't attracted to that. The common argument is that it's easier for women to get sex, which is obviously true, but doing something that's easy isn't wrong.

Interestingly, this gets way more attention than men who are shamed for having too *few* sex partners. Feminists love to call their opponents virgins while being the ones to shout the loudest about slut shaming. They tend to justify the latter because "slut shaming can make people skeptical of a reported rape"...yeah, like a virgin man reporting that a woman raped him would be taken with the utmost seriousness.

BQ: Happening at all is too often, since it's inherently bad.

Thoughts:

-It’s more prevalent among women statistically then men despite it often being perceived to be the opposite

-Am economist might say that sex is a commodity and the greater it’s availability/ease to obtain the lessor its value. Now contrast this with the saying that “women are the gatekeepers of sex and men are the gatekeepers of commitment”. The implication is that things like sex workers and general promiscuity among women decrease the value of sex for the entire female collective (decreased bargaining power)
