I was the first one to make a move.
I take care of moths.
If someone's being rude or unfair to us, I'll be the one to speak up.
I almost exclusively initiate sex.

Not sure what else could fall under masculine gender roles...

I'm more highly educated?
I take care of the budget?

As a functioning adult woman, I did all of them when I was single. About the only one I don't do now is the checking on scary noises because a) I sleep like the dead so any serial killers would find me easy prey b) why deny him his fun. I don't know where you live but it's been years since anything like that happened here.

I'm mostly the one who kills things and deals with dead things. There's a rat in the house because next door has done renovations and displaced it and it is trying us out? I'm right onto making that an ex-rat.

There is a post on this sub earlier today that states women communicate covertly.

I'm super straightforward about rejecting dates, being unhappy in my relationships and coming up with solutions to fix it. The surprised looks in men's faces are rather entertaining. Makes me feel like a snowflake. Some men have even thanked me for telling them nicely that it's going nowhere after a first date. However, being straightforward in relationships wasn't always smooth sailing but I think it sped up the process of the inevitable break up. My hubby loves my honesty.

Im purple pill and more importantly - i am lesbian. Which means although i currently dont have a gf or live together with a woman someone of us will have to do all these things. There is no other way lol. I have always been more on the scientific side (i study maths) so i was always kind of interested in especially technical things. But there was a point when i was a teenager where i realized that telling my father "do this or that" will backfire bc i dont have a man who stereotypically can do it. So now i always ask my father to show me how if i dont know how to do something... Or i google bc lets be honest you find a guide to everything on the internet.

I (37F) do all the home DIY, product assembly and maintenance/repairs. My husband (39M) does all the cooking. This is definitely the best for everyone; otherwise we’d be eating frozen waffles off wobbly tables

I'm a beast at the gym.

I'm very, very direct. I can't stand indecisiveness and passive aggression. (I imagine people view this as manly due to the 'what do you want to eat?' meme)

It's not necessarily a 'manly' role just not traditionally feminine.. but I'm not maternal at all. I suck at taking care of people. I was truly out of my comfort zone when my boyfriend broke his ankle.

I don't cry when I'm upset, I demand that it's taken care of immediately and put to rest.

I am the planner and the one who mostly drives.

I'm also just all around pretty gross. v into fart jokes.

I am more conscious of finances and where our money is going.

I'm realizing my boyfriend is very useless as I type this...

But more seriously, no. I can't think of such a situation, mainly because I can't think of that many masculine jobs that show up in our lives, since we don't share a living space for more than a few weeks at a time.

I chased him relentlessly.

I take out the trash/recyclables.

Walk the dog.

I investigate noises in the night (but he does as well...and we take our dog with us as well).

I call/make all the house care related appointments (but I usually make them for when he will be home)

I always tell him how handsome/cute/attractive he is. (But idk if that would be considered "masculine" I think it's just something one should do for their partner)

I drive/navigate on road trips. He usually sleeps.

For a couple years I was the primary (and at times sole) breadwinner while he was unemployed/going back to school.

I do yard work, but I grew up in a family where that was the woman's job so it doesn't register as a "male gender role" to me. I didn't realize most people thought of it as such until coming to Reddit.

I'm the bread-winner. He is the stay at home husband who does the cooking and cleaning. (I do my own laundry, since he knows I'm particular about what gets washed when.) I give him an allowance and I pay all the bills.

He calls me the gross one, too. I hide kleenexes everywhere which drives him mad.

I don't go investigate the bumps in the night since he is usually awake and he is hyper vigilant from PTSD. And he does take care of bugs, since I'm a wuss. But I then have to clean up bug guts since he just kills it and smears it all over the place lol.

Im the martial artist - id definitely save the BF from intruders, and am the one who gets up to check on things in the night because he sleeps through anything anyway.. I’m the one with the high libido and the one who likes to have a cheeky grope when chilling around he house (he bats me away and calls me the horn dog).

On the other hand, he’s the cook (including baking cake!). He’s also the one that gets all emotional, and then annoyed when I try to ‘fix’ problems for him. He’s also quite shy, so I do stuff like make phone calls, speak to shop assistants and order food for us. He’s also the one that’s keen for kids, and wants to be the main parent.

Have technical certifications for work.
Worked in a shop, own steel toes and as a result still have toes.
Have metal working and woodworking skillz.
Rational decision maker.
Designated driver.
Trash remover.
I'm not a slob but I'm definitely comfortable with a just okay level of cleanliness rather than being totally spotless.
Outdoorsy as fuck.
Tall and built not short and squishy.
Anyone who can't treat me with respect can fuck right off.

I'm very intelligent and have an intp personality type, also get up in a technologically advanced megalopolis so my plan all along was too find a way to use the resources I had to survive in the environment that I found myself in. so typically masculine stuff is what I excel in regardless of my physical gender.

I have women friends who do more traditionally feminine work and social lives and it's clear to me that I would just suck if I had to live like that. That shit would stress me the fuck out.

I've had issues with men in the past feeling threatened by my tendencies. But I don't see the benefit in deliberately trying to take on roles that I'm not good at for the benefit of someone else's feelings.

My general thoughts on gendered roles is that gender is probably too gross a grouping to really understand how a person is going to behave and function in society if one is interested in performing and excelling rather than living hand to mouth and probably addicted to various substances, so gender becomes less and less useful as ones quality of life increases.

The only one I can think of (and this does not speak well of me) is that my husband is much more of a neat freak and talented housekeeper than I am. His closet is immaculate, with every hanger spaced equally apart and color coded. His drawers are organized and when he folds clothes it looks like he uses a folding board and works at the Gap. He will always be bothered by dirt and mess before I will. He will get any cleaning out of the way first thing whereas I will procrastinate. In other words, I am the slob. This is a gender reversal, as most relationships tend to be the other way, with the woman being more of the clean freak. I wouldn't say that I am objectively a slob, but that my husband is an extreme outlier among men and I am probably somewhat more relaxed in my standards than most women in my cohort. I've gotten better over time, but I'll never be Suzy Spotless like my mother was/is. (And yes, I'm a SAHM so it's doubly terrible that I am not the clean freak).

I pursued him romantically and for a long time in our relationship I pursued him sexually, and he actually asked me to tone it down because it was emasculating. It's very difficult for me to not pursue him, but it actually gets me laid more often so I can't complain.

I drive us everywhere because I love to drive.

I am currently the breadwinner, and pay for 100% of our cheaper fun activities (like the movies), and pay for the majority of more expensive fun (like skydiving or a Broadway trip).

As for bumps in the night, neither of us run out to investigate. If there’s legit someone in the house, hiding and calling the cops is the safest thing to do. I don’t want my partner to die because he thought he could win a fight with a criminal.

In my last and only relationship, i was the initiator, the protector, the providor and the physically stronger one. I also tended to holding the door open for him, slapping his butt and acting like an "emotional tampon". I prefered it like that.

I make a pretty good living and pay at least half our current HH expenses. I'm not afraid of investigating bumps in the night if I'm on location for work. I'm very masculine brained at work. At home, I try very hard to let that all go. I try to be as feminine and submissive as possible. Was Mrs.Boss in my previous marriage. Not a good look.
