Wow you just have so many excuses.

You're probably super lazy but expect women to do a million and one things to look nice for your gender.

I've seen short men with women and no they aren't rich (another excuse you would've no doubt said).

Wearing make-up hudes flaws. Why would you want a woman who is a 4 then puts on make-up to make herself look like a 7? When you wake up in the morning next to her, you're gonna see a 4, not a 7 because she doesn't have make-up on. When ya'll have kids, if her genes are more dominant that yours, the kids will come out looking like her, a 4.

Did you hear about that asian man that supposedly sued his wife because their kids came out ugly? Well she was ugly, got plastic surgery, found a man, got married, had kids and guess what? The children came out ugly because even though the mother got plastic surgery, she's still ugly because of her genes.

Make-up, like plastic surgery and other artificial ways women make themselves up to look attractive to the male gender, are fake. NOT REAL.

P.S. I am not saying it's wrong to not be with women who don't wear make-up, I like make-up on women too, just know that it's FAKE and not all men like make-up.

Well you could make the same argument about men. Why do they go to the gym? If they never left their house, do you think they would try to get six pack abs?

Yes some people care about what other people think of them. But the women I know wear make-up for themselves, not men or other women.

How can you say the majority of men give their attention to women who wear make-up when you don't know the majority of men? Unless you're talking about your experience then fine. But don't stereotype men.

In my original comment I meant that African-American men and Hispanic men are different from White men. These men are different in what they like in women. Whute men and Asian men tend to go for women who are really skinny, feminine, exc. African American men and Hispanic men tend to like women who are fiesty, "ghetto", "meat on her bones", exc.

It all depends on your status in society. Rich men tend to be White and their women are almost always White and beautiful. When African-American men become rich, they tend to marry white women who are more feminine and beautiful.

In other countries, men may find tall women attractive, pale skin attractive, dark skin attractive, exc. It all depends on their culture. Not all women adhere to what westeners think is beautiful and not all men take the bait.

There is no "should" in biology, there is only what exists and what helps organisms continue to exist. Should a female moose mate with a male moose with small antlers, just because the male can't control how large his rack is? They are judged on the same level because they affect attraction in equal measure. A fat woman turns off men like a short man turns off women. Nonetheless, a woman's responsibility to give her potential future children a good life through her mate choices is a responsibility that she alone bears for them. Nobody else in the world really cares if she makes them miserable by dealing them a shitty hand. Oh I mean they might say they care, but like with so many things they'll be thinking of something else in five minutes and not providing any help. Men don't care, they'll fuck, impregnate her even if they are a spectacularly bad choice. She owes nothing to any man she has not made an arrangement with. Also, if she is monogamous (like most people are) in choosing one man she chooses not to have the others. She's going to disappoint millions of guys of all sorts (short, tall, black, white, cute, ugly etc) whatever she does. Her vagina is not a charity and she is not a public facility that must make itself available to Short Justice Warriors for the fulfillment of their Short Justice Agenda any more than she is obliged to make herself available to the Black Pride movement or the incels or Disability Action or men who can't dance or aspies who can't social.

One day she risks holding in her arms and having sole responsibility for a helpless new human being... all in a big bad world that suddenly she's got even less power to change. Of course if she's pretty enough to have abundant options she's going to use that pretty to safeguard the social wellbeing for that potential new human.

I don't care what women decide to discriminate on when it comes to casual sex. Won't touch short dudes? Makes sense. Bit reluctant to let a black guy near you? Yeah I can see that, raising a biracial kid alone as a white woman is a minefield. No apsies? I've got a few aspie tendencies myself and yet I won't say she shouldn't.

Because ultimately, fair treatment for short/black/aspie/busted face people is a multifactorial thing involving many people, but the wellbeing of her kids is a matter on which the responsibility comes straight back to her and chances are when she calls for help she'll hear crickets.

Sexual attraction has nothing to with whether or not something is within one's control. Men tend to be less attracted to obese women, women are not attracted to shorter than average men. Simple as that. The fact that one can be changed while the other can't is irrelevant to all this.

Also from a reproductive pov, it makes sense for women to not be attracted to short men precisely because it is not something within the man's control (and is highly determined by his genes). While it makes less sense for a man to not be attracted to obese women (because as you said it is something within her control and is less hereditary).

Remember that when it comes to mate selection, only inborn, non-acquired traits counts (so for example, large boobs gotten through implants will obviously not be genetically transmitted to the kid)

Plus? Now that you are thinner, exercise shouldn't be as difficult to achieve. So you can help your "slower metabolism" a lot by getting off your ass and walking. I can tell it works, because since I've gone work from home full time I've struggled keeping weight off, and I know beyond all doubt its because I no longer have the long haul to/from the parking garage to the office, and I need to get out and move more. If I do that, I can continue eating what I am today and LOSE weight. Once I get back to where I am more comfortable, I can cut back on the exercise and/or what I'm eating. But its been interesting to see where my body situates itself based on my caloric input and exercise. At my age, I can't fudge it much, meaning it takes very little to cause weight gain, and a good bit more to get it back off after the fact. I have to watch what I eat fairly carefully if I don't want to move my ass much, but can get away with more "cheating" if I'm exercising regularly. Of course that makes sense, but its interesting that its MUCH easier to get fat than for me to get thin at this point.

I'm a solid 40lbs over my goal weight, which I achieved two years ago before I quit smoking cigarettes. No, I'm not blaming the smokes for my weight gain, I clearly slacked off on my diet AND exercise. However, I've found it interesting that my body has settled where it has considering my lack of effort currently. I certainly must have improved my metabolism to some extent, because without exercising I'd have expected to keep on climbing back up, but just modifying my diet has kept me here, and I've not even been really anal about the diet.

So with a bit of exercise right now, my 46 year old ass could probably get away with a bit of shitty eating, and a bit of moderate exercise, and still be in better shape than 80% of my age peers. Hell, as it stands I'm probably still better off than 40% of the 40-something guys around me, and I'm not trying all that hard. In my case, I've put weight back on, but I can easily see why it happened, and it is my own fault. I didn't stick with my changed eating habits enough, and I began working from home mostly full-time and did NOT step up exercise to compensate for not getting up off my ass two times a day to walk to my car. (I didn't park close because I'm cheap, so I had a haul twice a day.)

Look at what did work, from the bottom of said article:

When we looked at our weight loss patients who had lost weight and kept it off we noticed several important factors:

(1) They cooked.

While over 85% of patients did not cook before (defined as cooking the majority of their meals) – those who were successful found success in the kitchen. Some had “cooked” before, several were even trained as a chefs but had gone into other work.

(2) Their tastes changed.

When drilling down on the 15% who had cooked before what they ate changed. The meals they had eaten prior to surgery were completely different five years after surgery. Few of them had soda or other sugary drinks more than once a week.

(3) None were following classic “diets.”

Not a single one of them were “protein first” or “vegetarian” or defined themselves by a diet. Most were enjoying a wider variety of foods than they had before. For many of them it was liberating, “I free so much of my brain up because I don’t think about dieting anymore.” Remarkably, the average number of salads per week was less than one.

(4) They exercised.

77% of them engaged in some activity – although for the majority of them this meant a long walk five to six times daily.

Long term weight loss is difficult – but from what we can determine, it does involve some delicious changes. Getting out of the restaurant and into the kitchen being one of them.

This is all common sense stuff! Make your own food, and it's healthier than the prepared stuff from restaurants, and WAY healthier than prepackaged crap.

Changing "your tastes" is LITERALLY what a diet is. You eat different foods and your body acclimates to them. I was eating a bunch of crap 2 years ago. I realized I was getting fat, so I started by cutting volume. Then I cut sugary drinks and alcohol. Then I started replacing shitty food with real protein and vegetables. 2 years on, I've lost over 50 lbs and it's still dropping. I wasn't obese - but I was at the very top end of "overweight" by BMI. I don't even think about what I eat anymore - it's all autopilot. I don't eat salads - maybe one every 2-3 weeks. Literally my only incremental change in my eating right now is to cut back on snacking, as I have a tendency to devour an apple, banana, and a bowl of grapes at night. So I've been doing "no snack" days for 5 days a week and have lost 3 more pounds in 2 weeks. Exercise is also key - you have to find something you enjoy doing. I love to lift weights. My wife loves to swim and run.

Will it stay off for 5+ years? I don't know. I'm almost 2 years in and still making progress. I feel great. The biggest hurdle has been finding healthy foods my kids will eat, because making 2 different types of meals sucks, plus I want them to learn to eat healthy now, so they can avoid this entire topic when they are adults.

Sure. Doesn't mean we're all on the same playing field. Some of us have dramatically better metabolisms than others, some of us are not inclined to overeat due to genetics etc.

I would need some sources on "genetics" or "metabolism" controlling people's weight. All the information I've found has shown the exact opposite:

Results. Total energy expenditure and resting metabolic rate in the subjects with diet resistance (group 1) were within 5 percent of the predicted values for body composition, and there was no significant difference between groups 1 and 2 in the thermic effects of food and exercise. [bolded for emphasis]

In other words your metabolic rate can be predicted within 5 percent of it's actual value and there is no such thing as a "faster metabolism" or genetic predispostion or pseudo-scientific bullshit that tries to explain away the simple fact that people that eat less weigh less, and people who eat more weight more.

I had an Itallian grandmother who lived through WWII, and weighed 90 pounds her whole life because she ate very little. She commented once on fat people complaining how fat they are to me, saying there were no fat people in Auschwitz.

The link you posted here says the same as mine (mine saying values are predictable within 5%, the article within 5-8%). The first source it cites:

Total daily energy expenditure varies several-fold in humans, not due to variation in resting metabolic rate, diet-induced thermogenesis, or exercise thermogenesis, but rather, due to variations in nonexercise activity.

The nonexercise activity is a pretty broad stroke, which I interpret as being vague (since it wasn't studied in the study cited), but handwaving why weight changes as "it's magic/genetics/environment" means at best it's unstudied and at worst you leave people to draw their own conclusions from no information.

The article you linked goes on to say that these differences are negligible and offset by moderate exercise. You wanting your own conclusions that people can't lose or gain weight doesn't make it so.

There is a lot of science that indicates that predisposition to put on weight is biological/body type is biological.

I used to believe that, too, along with various bullshit like, "I'm tall so I carry the weight well" and "my blood work isn't actually in the danger zone." That kind of denial is understandable in your 20s, because 20 year olds have to really work to be unhealthy. In your 30s it begins to have more consequences, and in your 40s you start spending more time in emergency rooms with older relatives. Watching people have heart attacks is no fun. Wondering why a relative's feet are turning purple is a bit freaky, too, because that can end in amputation. Sooner or later, most people are either going to eat the way their doctor tells them to eat, or they're going wind up dealing with nasty chronic illness much younger than necessary.

What I realized is that I control my weight to within a pound or two. If I want to lose 5 pounds per month, I just eat 500 calories under my TDEE every day and I lose 5 pounds. If I want to put on muscle, I eat more than I want to eat (which can be disgusting if it's lean protein) and I lift heavy.

Sure, appetite varies between people, and so does metabolism, though not very much. So you just make some adjustments to what you eat to compensate.

If you wanted to gain 10 pounds of muscle, you could do it, body type and metabolism be damned. It would require work and discipline. Like virtually every lifter, you'd have to eat more than you wanted to eat. You'd have to work hard and consistently. And if you wanted to keep it, you couldn't ever stop.

But lots of people pay this price. For many older people, it's the difference between being strong and healthy, or being sick or dead.

But I do think that there is an underestimated genetic component to this that is very real -- and that once you've been overweight, it's very hard to ''lose'' that weight.

I suspect that for most people who've been overweight (and actually for most people who've been underweight enough to have an 8-pack at some point), they're going to have a lifelong tendency to want to overeat. I always maintained my weight effortlessly until a year where I only had access to 3 meals a day and I got ripped without trying. Ever since then, I've had a tendency to gain 5 pounds a year if I eat naturally. Unfortunately, 5 pounds a year for 20 years adds up!

But I've reached the point where I can't ignore the consequences. I have a choice: I can eat "naturally," and I'll get old and fat and sick. Or I can track what I eat and go to the gym, and I'll be stronger now than I was as a teenage athlete. Aging fucking sucks. With self discipline, many people can remain "sorta hotish" into their 50s, and at least fit and presentable into their 60s. And I've known people who take care of themselves who are still mobile and independent in their 90s.

So I've accepted that I'm probably going to have to track what I eat for the rest of my life. It's not actually too bad, and it provides enough data that I can usually adjust what I eat to avoid feeling either too hungry or disgustingly gorged. A lot of people in this world live with much nastier disabilities and chronic conditions, and they would be thankful to only spend 10 minutes a day keeping track of what they eat.

I've lost 7kg in a week and a half -- that's 15lbs! Really close to 15% of my overall body weight, which is pretty terrifying.

That is really scary and I wish you the best of luck. Have you looked into the nutritional and psychological tricks that bodybuilders use when bulking? I'm entirely serious when I say that they know a fair bit about eating more than any sane person wants to eat. Maybe it wouldn't help in your case, but as you say, that's a terrifying rate of weight loss. :-(

Men can become taller with surgery. It's expensive, but ya'll still have that option.

Are you talking about the massively expensive surgery where they saw your leg bones in half followed by months of being confined to a bed for very painful healing?

Even if an extra two inches of height was worth all the pain/suffering/awkwardness of adjusting to a new leg length, as well as the inherent risk of any surgery, not 1 in 1000 men could both afford the surgery and afford to not work for months while they recovered.

You didn't want her when she was fat, you don't deserve her when she's skinny.

That's one of the reasons why I'm losing weight. To get a girlfriend.

When I was at my heaviest I never told anyone I liked women. I always told people I was straight and 99% of the people I hung around with are straight. So since I knew a few lesbians, I was never asked out by one. Probably because I was fat, I wouldn't know. We hardly talked so I can't say for sure if they would've liked me.

I'm losing weight to get a girlfriend because, like I said, I don't like fat women either so I'm trying to fix myself up so that I can be with a woman that is on my level.
