More and more these days if feminists call you a misogynist that simply means you're speaking rationally and logically.

Rape is a criminal matter.

We have an entire arm of the government dedicated to addressing criminal matters.

It isn't the department of education.

Feminism isn't so much a coherent movement as it is a rhetorical toolkit for policing male behaviour.

The more feminist a man is, the more vulnerable he is to this kind of manipulation. And the more prominent he is, the more tempting a target he makes.

And the more vulnerable he to manipulation, the more women subconsciously hate him for being weak and unmasculine.

Bernie Sander is correct on this issue, but he would be a disaster as president, because he has no cojones. You cannot trust cowards, because they are loyal only to whoever bullied them last.

Rape and assault is rape and assault. Whether it takes place on campus or on a dark street. And if a student rapes a fellow student, that has got to be understood to be a very serious crime. It has got to get outside of the school and have a police investigation. And that has to take place. Too many schools are seeing this as 'well it’s a student issue, let’s deal with it.' I disagree with that. It is a crime and it has to be treated as a serious crime. And you are seeing now the real horror of many women who have been assaulted or raped, sitting in a classroom alongside somebody who raped them. Rape is a very, very serious crime and it has to be prosecuted. It has to be dealt with.

Why feminists are salty:

Advocates, higher education officials and sexual assault survivor-activists have routinely opposed bills proposing to send all cases to police, citing a distrust in the criminal justice system and data showing that prosecutors rarely bring charges in campus rape cases. Fewer than 10 percent of rape cases reported to police result in criminal charges against an accused perpetrator, according to one 2012 study.

Rape is a felony that can be punished with life imprisonment. Because of this, it has to meet a criminal burden of proof that is "beyond a reasonable doubt." Prosecutors don't prosecute cases that are he said she saids that have no other evidence and this level of proof because they will lose.

Apparently, feminists would rather spare the feelings of one woman who had to be in a class with her alleged rapist by kicking him out of school using a lesser burdern of proof, rather than put a rapist away to protect other women.

The problem with a lower burden of proof and getting kicked out of college is that of incentives. A woman can falsely accuse a man of rape, get her out of his life, ruin his life, get bumped up a spot in the victim hierarchy, get a ridiculous amount of attention and community support, and suffer no stigma (except maybe from RPers).

I love Bernie on this issue, because he is white knighting so hard that the feminists are mad at him. "Rape culture" is middle class white women weaponizing regret for petty ends in a world where actual, provable rape will get the rapist anally raped in jail for life.

A judge could never be as objective and fair as a college tribunal. In Guantanamo bay they also implemented tribunals for this very reason. Normal courts wouldn't accept 99% of the evidence, confessions and testimonies. That's why we need objective and fair college tribunals. Guantanamo proofed that they are useful.

The reason why feminists want rape accusers to be able to choose whether colleges or law enforcement are the ones that investigate/prosecute rape cases is because it allows women with flimsy (or even false) evidence to punish men easier. Colleges are under enormous pressure from the federal government to take all rape accusations as true (even if they aren't). Colleges do not have the best interest of anyone in mind other than their brand. So if someone is accused, especially if it becomes a media spectacle, it's in their best interest to kick them out.

As Congressman Polis once said, it's better for 10 innocent men accused of rape to be kicked out of college just to get that 1 guilty man out.

When people try to circumvent due process, it's for a reason. There is no reason to oppose police involvement in a rape case unless the accusation is false.

I believe it should be required by law. If reporting it to the school can result in punishment of any sort, actual paid investigators should do the heavy lifting of proof, not some random people paid by the school.

I'm supporting a different candidate, but I agree about this. The concept of my school intervening in a criminal matter in ANY way makes me more angry than anything else I've heard of. Campus police should not be accepted by Americans and I really can't imagine why they have been. If I call for police, I want the REAL goddamn police.

Ok, so surprise surprise, someone from TRP was dishonest. Yeah, I know, it shocked me too. Anyway I decided to read the post and a lot of it more has to do with the idea that rape cases have issues actually going through to prosecution and that being the big reason. There's basically distrust.

The thought is Sanders maybe misinformed and people don't think he's a misogynist, at least in the article. So yes, attacking a straw man, typical red pill nonsense.

That being said, I'm still more on the ship of going to the police and I feel if more people went to the police it might make it better for other women to come forward as well. I feel universities have really screwed the pooch on these issues and shown their total incompetence.

It goes back to what I've always said about rape being a very complicated topic.

Does anybody recall the time when the railing hue and cry from the feminist movement was that the police ignore rape complaints, don't take them seriously, and blame the accusers for their fate? On this view the police were the backbone of the patriarchy. Maybe they are? But is Bernie Sanders? I really want to sympathize with these people fighting for the way rape cases are prosecuted, because it is difficult to collect evidence outside the notoriously unreliable eyewitness testimony. But the solution is not to establish a posture of presumption of guilt.

Sanders is right: all cases must be sent to the police and - when sufficient evidence has been gathered - a prosecution is made against the accused, who can defend themselves in a court of fucking law.

Yeah, criminal court takes a while, but it is fair.

Apparently, there is backlash from some feminists saying police can't solve the problem. However, there are a number of sources which suggest college handling of rape is often not effective, and rapists themselves don't get punished, most cases are swept under the rug.

Because its easier to lobby for campuses to punish the accused with as little evidence as possible than to lobby for law enforcement to do the same.

When colleges handle rape claims the deck is largely stacked against the accused.

The accuser gets anonymity, representation at any hearings, victim support services, the ability to limit the movement of the accused on campus at her whim, and the latitude to talk about the accused in any way she wishes.

On the other hand the accused is specifically denied representstion at hearings (cant even being his own), is denied the chance to bring up evidence, may be limited in where he can go on campus, etc.....

Simply put despite how bad colleges handle rape cases feminists know that its easiser to manipilate how rape cases are handled by colleges than by police.

AKA since its harder to stack the deck against men when law enforcement handles rape cases it is misogynistic to push for law enforcement to handle rape cases instead of colleges handling them.

*Of course all feminists arent like that.

Rape victims don't want to deal with a trial, so they would rather just report to the school who will punish the person with no trial and keep it on the down-low. Rape trials can be pretty shitty, especially if there is no real physical evidence that the sex wasn't mutual. It's a good defense strategy to smear the victim.

i think there are instances of police offices failing to take the crime and victims seriously... but ultimately i think law enforcement involvement could be a great thing if they treated cases with the seriousness and gravity that they deserve. i haven't read the article you're referring to but that sounds like a shame, that backlash against his statements.
