I can't link it since it's a huffington post article, but apparently, people are calling Sander's sexist or misogynist because he said rape is a serious crime and needs to have police involvement in all cases. Apparently, there is backlash from some feminists saying police can't solve the problem.

However, there are a number of sources which suggest college handling of rape is often not effective, and rapists themselves don't get punished, most cases are swept under the rug.

What I don't get here is that, if a girl was raped, and reports it to the school, what's wrong with law enforcement getting involved? It sounds very fishy to me why a girl wouldn't want police to investigate. If somebody mugs me, I will call the police. I don't have proof I was mugged, but they still believe me and investigate it.
