We simply overestimate how good looking most women are. That's all there is to it.

Part of the problem of course is that many women let themselves go, so every skinny girl looks like a supermodel these days because we're so thirsty.

Second part is that average women buy into the male thirst and think themselves hotter than they are, often rejecting average men.

Women who ask things like this generally have no idea what "average" means, since they rate 85% of men as below average. Of course you think all these "below average" men are with much prettier partners. Also, women tend to spend a lot of time/effort on makeup which drastically alters how they look. If men/women wore the same amount of makeup (none) you'd be shocked at how much better the men would look in comparison.

I always see posts like this, but never see it in reality.

All the good looking women I know are dating model looking men. They seriously all look like they stepped out of a catalogue.

Maybe in the Amish community or something you can see good looking women with average men, but in the major metro center where I live good looking women always have a 6’2” greek god in tow.

We need to end this lie that women are less shallow than men, it simply isn’t true. I know lots of guys dating plain and frumpy women beneath their looks level. I know of zero women doing the same. Even most of the massive fat girls I know are dating fit guys who are facially much more attractive than they are.

Women are significantly more shallow than men where looks are concerned.

You have no basis for your observations. Attraction is subjective, your idea of an average man, and your idea of a beautiful woman is radically different from either her’s or his.

And you have no idea of his or her wealth, or potential wealth or if that is a motivating force. You also can’t know their pasts, futures, or vectors in life.

Maybe he’s a poor college student awaiting a huge trust fund. Maybe she’s tired of club promoters and PUA guys and want someone “safe”. Maybe they have personality quirks or sex fetishes this one person scratches the itch of.

"beautiful women" by design should be rare, yet you use "plenty" and "beautiful women" in the same sentence. I don't think you know what that means. The only conclusion is: these were perfectly average women.

I have definitely seen this. To counter some claims from others that this does not happen. I actually spent a lot of time paying attention to couples for this very reason. Instead of just taking the whatever pill version as the truth. I wanted to see with my own eyes what was happening.

I found that good looking women were more likely to be with "inferior" males than vice versa. Good looking guys almost always had good looking women. The contrasts I saw usually had the female as the more attractive partner despite what some "female hypergamy" guys would have you believe.

Honestly though I saw way more couples that were matched than those that were contrasted. In most cases there isn't a huge difference in looks.

There's a few things that people often don't consider.

1) What you find attractive may be different from what the woman finds attractive. So while you might see her partner as this "average male". She may truly be attracted to him.

2) You don't know what they looked like when they hooked up. Maybe they've been together 10 years and the guy gained a ton of weight (just an example).

3) There is racial and ethnic preferences. Most of these are general averages that are hard to assign to any individual. However most black women will prefer black guys. Despite what the black pillers say most Asian women will prefer Asian men. Most Russian women will prefer Russian Slavic men. Etc etc etc. This plays a huge role as well.

4) Women who have low self esteem have a low self evaluation. They might look gorgeous to you but they don't see it when they look in the mirror. For this reason dating an "average" guy seems perfectly reasonable since they are "average" themselves. Some even think they are ugly despite being gorgeous to any other observer. Anxiety is a very weird phenomenon. Body dysmorphia can affect people of all looks levels.

Because LTRs are based more on personality, shared values, hobbies, interests, traits that don’t involve your height or face. I’m 5’6 with plain features and getting LTRs has always been easy for me, with casual sex being impossible. Just have some interests, be well groomed and dress well, and don’t act like an absolute incel in public and you’re good to go.

Settling is innate to LTR selection. Most LTRs will involve women who are more attractive than men, it works the reverse in STRs.

It's only the 9s\10s where it's mostly only beautiful people matching with each other. And even then, it's not entirely uncommon to see a male 9 with a 6.5. Because she only needs to pass the boner test.

I'd argue what you're observing are men who are only slightly more attractive than the median, but still averagish. A male 7 isn't going to stand out that much, he's going to look normal even if he's attractive. And well, as I said, he's going to be pairing with a woman slightly more attractive. 7\8.

EDIT: Adding this preface... It is not common at all to see an average guy as a whole with a beautiful woman. "Average" meaning average looking AND average stature, average income, average lifestyle, etc. Women often knowingly misrepresent the point when they make goofy ass statements as above.

I don't see many real life examples of this. But part of it is just luck, the guy found a girl who cares about looks less than the majority of the population and cares a lot about his personality. There's always exceptions to rules like "You shouldn't go out of your league." Another part of it is that attraction is not 100% objective, maybe the girl actually thinks that the guy is attractive even though other girls don't. But besides those things, any other instance of what you're describing is probably due to the guy being wealthy and the girl being a gold digger.
